The Loyalty Program Shut Down Event is now active. The banner on the Home Page has changed. The timer now reflects when the event will end instead of when it will begin and the “Learn More” button changed to “Go to Marketplace”.

When you arrive to the Marketplace, you will find your Loyalty Status box has changed to the one below. The fine print will make more sense once you start buying the items: *Prices vary according to number of items sold.”

There are 10 new items that you can purchase with your Loyalty Points. There is one attack and one defense item for each of the 5 categories. Each item except the Henchmen initially costs 1,500 Loyalty Points and Henchman start out at 3,000. If you have less than 1,500 Loyalty Points, the cost will be your remaining balance. I’m really disappointed because I hoped the items that were added to the inventory a few days ago were for a Fight Club update (1). Maybe we will get lucky and Zynga will move them to the Fight Club once this event is over. That’s a stretch but it could happen!
Weapons
Armors
Vehicles
When you purchase each item, you are congratulated and the “Purchase another for XXXX Loyalty Points” button is doubled. If you purchase one of each, all items except Henchmen will cost 3,000 Loyalty Points and Henchmen will cost 6,000. If have enough Loyalty Points to buy a third item, the cost goes up to 9,000 Loyalty Points. If you have less than 1,500 Loyalty Points or get below that number, Zynga reduces the prices of all items except ones you previously purchased and the Henchmen to your remaining balance. This way you won’t be left with unused Loyalty Points.
If you don’t want to deal with a bunch of clicking (not that many of us will be able to buy much), there is a Spocklet called the Loyalty Program Buyer that works just like the Marketplace Buyer. It wasn’t registering the number of Loyalty Points owned so it probably needs an update and will be fixed once team Spockholm gets online.
You will also notice that your profile no longer contains the Loyalty Program Status Icon.
Money will be saved for those who cared about their status as you will no longer need to worry about maintaining it. Gone are those “You’re A Rock Star” popups that many of us had fun with.
The Loyalty Program Status icon has also been removed from the Buy Reward Points Page and you no longer get Loyalty Points when you make purchases.
There are no longer ways to get Loyalty Points so the ones you have are the only ones you can use. The Loyalty Points we got for in game functions are no longer available. You can see when helping with job, Loyalty Points are no longer awarded.
The same applies to Free Gifts.
Zynga didn’t do much for their loyal players who spend money on the game. It’s a well known fact that they don’t care about existing players and this is more verification (1). If there wasn’t a cost gradient, players may have felt their loyalty and money was more appreciated. It kind of made me feel the same way as the 100 reward points I received for being a member of the PAC (1). Sometimes a simple thank you makes people feel more appreciated. Rewards place a value on the loyalty or service you provided and based on these rewards that value is low.
The cost also depends on the points you have left..I already spent mine so was able to buy a chest buster for 501 points that I had left.
ReplyDeleteDid you read the post? That is explained. The last item will cost the remaining balance of your loyalty points except for the henchmen.
Deletei have bought Stack Pistol 127 67 for 975 Loyalty Points, was the last one ;)
ReplyDeleteOnce your purchases take you under the 3000LP threshold, you are offered one last purchase for the balance of your LP. So you will actually get 1 good deal... excepting, of course, the fact that the best defensive item disappears. Zynga'd to the end.
ReplyDeleteFunnier still, my alt got the splash popup for gaining gold level 85 bare minutes before everything disappeared.
Well, as someone playing less then a year who used a lot of loyalty points buying NY parts early on I did not have much to work with, was able to buy both animals and the offense vehicle, Arika, cant complain, considering how useless loyalty points were prior to today. Just wish zynga thought about the lower players and offered us a way to amass them in bulk during this event
ReplyDeleteIf they had added these items earlier or did any kind of any kind update to this loyalty program. We would not be looking at a shutdown today.I guess the loyalty isn't reciprocated.
ReplyDeleteso this is how they show us gratitude, we spent money on there game, and earned L-points, but they force us to spend it and double the cost of each item. I feel like shit, wasting my time playing a game i enjoy. thanks for nothing Zynga
ReplyDeleteAmazing Zynga logic, the price doubles after you buy an item - we are rewarding your loyalty one last time by shafting you one last time. We've got your money, now f*ck off!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think the items offered are junk... soon to be outdated... I was holding on to my points for when I hit the last, Special level, to get the harbinger... but, alas, here I go to burn up what I have..Your loyalty points: 111,006... Thanks for all you do!!!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER OPTION......Open several tabs to get multiple items at intial cost. I tried this on an item and it worked in two tabs for the cost of 1500 LP.
ReplyDeleteYeah I felt short changed but when you get down to your last points even if it 1 loyaty point you can get an item for it it will zero you out
ReplyDeleteSo... in the loyalty program's final act, Zynga goes out of its way to flip off the people with the most points. Feeling more like a battered wife every day.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we still playing? Oh, yeah, the addiction. I wonder if we could file a class action suit like the ones against the tobacco companies?
I want to sue Zynga for giving me carpal tunnel

ReplyDeleteI'm not finding the "doubling" to be true. I have several accounts with more than 500k loyalty points on them and have already seen costs of 30000 loyalty points on a small account of 275k loyalty points.
Zynga is doing MUCH more than doubling and the rate is not constant. One item may double while the item directly below it will triple.
BTW, I could not find a Loyalty Program Buyer in any of the Spock BMs.
My view is Zynga did the final act of the loyalty program up just right! A big splash by having a special customized price for each customer, one designed to bring insulting of the loyal customer "just so perfectly" up to the next level. Who needs a Loyalty Program Buyer script.... the loyal customers $50,000 dollars worth of loyalty point are gone in under 30 seconds; quick and easy.
ReplyDeleteanyone ever think that price may just might reset in 24hrs all iems might go back to 1500 (3000 for henchmen)since theres 16 days prob worth waiting to see
ReplyDeleteThe people who spend money on the game already got what they paid for, or they'd be crying like little babies to customer services. Suck it up, crybabies!
ReplyDeleteyoure all cry babies for a soon to be inactive item lol
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping they would add italy village parts to the list so that those of us who want the achievements could finish building our villages.
ReplyDeletewill there be new items added?
ReplyDeleteWith My 187,000 (Dis)Loyalty Points, I purchased the following:
ReplyDelete3 Stack Pistol
4 Chest Burster
4 Stud Punchers
3 Layered Armor Torso
3 Arika
3 Black
3 Serval
3 Eastern Coral Snake
3 Rocks
3 Max
My Mafia Attack increased by 366 and my Mafia Defense increased by 380... :)
At the end, I noticed that some items (henchmen) were no longer available.... :(

"It kind of made me feel the same way as the 100 reward points I received for being a member of the PAC (1). Sometimes a simple thank you makes people feel more appreciated."
ReplyDeleteJen - It's funny that you mention this because there have been scientific studies that have been conducted that prove this very premise (and the studies are easily replicable). When money (or a monetary reward) becomes involved, it "shorts out" the sense of self-worth that one might have acquired had they just received a "thank you." The idea behind this occurring is that a "thank you" has no value more than the value given to it by the receiver (which can be any and all value), whereas the value of money is relatively constant. A "thank you" provides a sense of self-worth and altruism, but money is just money and means something wholly different to the receiver.
