Zynga is on a bug fix kick today but unfortunately they are fixing the ones that were advantageous to the players. This is bad news for some but to many it’s welcomed. Not all players have multiple accounts or manipulate scripts to gain unfair advantages. This round of bug fixes also demonstrates that the developers are capable of patching holes in the code and should be viewed as a positive sign of things to come.
For a short time, Zynga was trying to keep us informed of what bugs were fixed. We saw a series of posts on the Official Mafia Wars Blog called “Recent Bug Fixes” [1], [2], [3] . Like most things Zynga starts, there was no follow through and the last post of this type was on February 7th. The last time anything was updated on the Known and Resolved Issues Pages of the Forums was February 9th [1], [2] . Either there were no identifiable bugs and nothing has been fixed for almost a month or somebody is doing a bad job with the updates. If they can’t keep up with the Known and Resolved Issue threads, they should be removed.
Four bugs appreciated by many players were fixed today. Access to the Port was removed from the back code and this shouldn’t surprise anybody [1]. The Property Manager was updated and the Port has been removed.
It is no longer possible to send multiple gifts to the same person by using Facebook ID#s [1] . Although this was helpful, it had the potential for abuse. In the past some players reported receiving multiple useless gifts from the same player and this was bumping gifts that were wanted out of the ZMC. As we have seen many times, there are children in this game who like to terrorize people they don’t like and this tactic has been used.
The property request glitches were also fixed [1], [2]. Zynga let these go a very long time and I’ve been surprised with each new property that they still worked. You can still make multiple requests but only one will work. I’m not sure how anyone will be able to get to Level 15 of their Limited Time Properties without these glitches but those who don’t have the time or the minis are probably glad the playing field is more leveled. If Zynga doesn’t adjust the number of parts needed or increase the number of players who can help, I’ll probably join the boycott and not upgrade the next property.
Zynga also removed the ability to send the consumable item for the next Secret District [1]. If you attempt to send Vintage Lighters to your mafia, you will be directed to the Blue Mystery Bag Send Page.
What Zynga hasn’t done anything about was a exploit that created an extremely unbalanced playing field and took money away from their own pockets [1]. Many players were able to acquire 20 of each and every loot item in the inventory (to include unreleased items) everyday for over a month. They were also able to collect 20 of each Collectable Stat Card per day and got the skill points that went along with them. There haven’t been any rollbacks and we see profiles reported on the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page almost daily.

ReplyDeleteThe Gift Blaster works as intended. We can no longer manipulate it to do what it's not. Zynga's rules are you can only send one gift to each mafia member every 24 hours.

ReplyDeleteWhat's not cool is how selective they are with fixing things. Such as not rolling back accounts known to have cheated, server issues during the weekend, etc.
What's also not cool are the required crew/parts/gifts/etc. needed to participate in events. For London, 500 crew and 500 jack o'lights??? At least with the jack o'lights, you can post every 8 hours, and you can get one by clicking on a feed. But the crew??? That's ridiculous. A lot of players don't have a large mafia. It would take forever to collect all 500. They need to reduce the number of crew for that, and the number of property parts needed for the limited time properties.
I guess this is their way of forcing us to spend money. I think this may really be the final nail in the coffin for the game or my playing time.

If you're going to fix anything, fix Autoheal so that it autoheals you after you die and not set at settings to keep you from ever dying.

ReplyDeleteThere are some things that players know that they'll tell each other about - quietly - but when you post it on your blog, Zynga sees it, fixes it, and we lose out.
That was not posted on this blog until others started asking about it on the fan page. It was also posted elsewhere as one script writer in the community took Spockholm script, manipulated it and called it the Property Hack. I'm sure you saw the link on players requests who used it. That was months before I posted anything about it. Don't blame me, blame the ones who used the exploit to try to further their own sites with it. I don't really need help in that area and only post about these things once the questions start coming.

what I've found intriguing is the number of people who used the exploit to gET multiple parts...that was worth the extra effort. You couldf do the same thing on the upgrade posts to GIVE extra parts to your mafia. I saw very few people doing that, even if they were posting multiple requests for begs. I usually do give a click, get a click and can usually get my property up to level 11 or 12. If I see someone getting tons of clicks, and know they have minis helping them, I skip those posts. I send to the people that I know both need the clicks and have the capacity to return them.

DeleteThere is no guarantee that clicking someone else's posts in the home feeds, will get you a click back.. ..The best way to handle it, in my opinion, is to have organization in your families.. ..assign members to other members to click there posts, making sure each member gets maximum clicks on each post.. ..no haphazardly clicking just who you see post, but click those you are assigned to's posts. If 10 help clicks is the max, and 5 clicks on a post is max, then groups of 11 members will be the way to go. I haven't accurately calculated it, just estimated, based on what I remember from the last property on part requirements for each level.. ..but, Zynga appears to have it set up to allow us to fully upgrade within the allotted time, if, we post for help every 8 hours on the button, and get maximum clicks on those posts. I won't bore you with the math, but that is how it appears.. ..so, it is possible, if you are anal about your game, and get maximum clicks on every post.

Also, to the original poster.. ..Zynga has employees playing this game, too.. ..they see what we see, multiple posts by the same person in their home feeds.. ..so, it is a little shallow to blame Jennifer, or anyone else, for Zynga finding out about these "types" of glitches.. ..their employees find out about them, the same way we do.. ..seeing them posted by our mafia in the feeds. The only way to keep them from seeing it, would be to post only to specific individuals whom you trust.. ..if you post it to all of your friends, then you could be accused of exposing these glitches to Zynga, just like you are trying to say Jennifer is.. ..a pretty shallow, and not a very well thought out, accusation, in my opinion.
Zynga fix the reset of sending gifts... problem we will encounter is there no validation that you already send a gift to a person since if you check his/her name is always available on the list that you can send, zynga should remove if you already send a gift... actually that was the bug of multiple gifts.... there are limit and if you reach the limit you will be reset and can send multiple...

that will never happen. Too many people send me message about every little glitch. If they stop doing that then someone who was told by someone will tell me. I know many more that I haven't posted. If they don't tell me, they usually tell someone who loves to post about them on fan pages or their own news feeds. You would be surprised by what I learn from simply reading my feeds. Rule of thumb is if you know about a glitch and tell one person who promises to keep a secret, you pretty much just told 100 people.
DeleteDid you get yourself further leveled with the glitch when you found it then had you not. So what you did not finish, you would not be as far along had you never found it. Be happy with what you got and quit bitching and blaming. You want to blame anyone blame your crew for lack of support. DeleteI've seen people whine about scripts, but the simplest task of cut-n-paste is beyond some players comprehension. Its called learning, making simple tasks easier to do. I'm sorry if you feel that its cheating, Lets take this to the real world, driving a car could be called cheating, because people who walk may not have a car, or the skill set to drive. A computer is for repetitive tasks, Now you say its cheating when you do 1,000 clicks when another player can do the same task with 10 clicks? To me it sounds like progress in the right direction.

Those that multiposted actually did more good than harm. Firstly, by clicking our own posts 600 times we allowed those 600 clicks to help others. Secondly, I used my main account to help as many as Zynga would allow every 8 hours without asking for anything in return as I didn't beg from one part. That is hardworking in my book or maybe I'm missing something?
I feel I ask my mafia for enough help. I spam them daily for everything. This was one thing I could do myself and provide help to others also. As soon as I was built I'd use my minis to help as many others as I could.
If the bollocks above wants to tell me I'm not hardworking, feel free but I doubt they clicked and helped as many as I have over recent builds and would have continued to do so had this particular glitch not been fixed. I'll miss it and doubt I'll complete a 15 level build unless Zynga reduce the amount of parts, increase the time limits or Spockholm find a way round the fix. Either way it's going to be a nightmare and the rubbish above is going to realise how few clicks are out there when we're all back begging again. We've already built up huge loyalty in our mafia by helping so many but asking for nothing in return. I have no doubt when the next build arrives we will receive many clicks as a result, whether they will be enough, time will tell but this was one glitch that helped more than folks realise.

ReplyDeleteOne of the "glitches" you can count on them NOT fixing are those for the "Buy" placards. Let me explain....the "buy" box for 3 Stat cards for 42 RP's is strategically placed behind the “refresh” box for the spinning revolvers. So when your game freezes up (a rarity I know!) and you select the refresh or close button. The game conveniently unfreezes on this box. Seeing how there’s no confirmation for the buy, this is rarely noticed. When I wrote to them complaining about this, I was basically told “too bad!”. Be alert for this!!!

DeleteI've had the exact same problem, but each time I've written to them about it, it's been fixed. I've gotten my RP's back and they left the cards in my account. Usually they are horrible about helping me out, but with this problem, it's been easy to get it fixed.

The Devs at ZYNGA likely know about most but when the manager sees it in a public post, then he has to turn his droid off and leave the jumpy castle to get them to do something about it so when the manager's manager reads it from poolside on his iPhone the first manager can say he did something about it.

Its funny how the ones that piss and moan are the ones that need to use the scripts and cheat to play the game.They need to rely on credit cards and exploits to play the game because they lack in not only social skills,but the skills required to play the game.
ReplyDeleteThat's a little harsh. I use scripts to make things easier, like Loose Slots as it helps 20 of my mafia daily try to get an achievement I've had for ages. I don't need to do it. I get over 100 gifts a day so I don't need it for my family progress, I do it to help others because I work, I have a family, I have a social life and as much as I'd love to I can't play 24 hours a day.

I don't use a credit card as I can't afford to and I do have social skills, I'm a funeral director I'd be out of work if I wasn't good with people. I also understand the game and have the necessary skills, I've never fought using a script, I choose to fight manually it's a part of the game I enjoy. I'm IT savvy but I didn't use the glitch to grab 20 of the top end loot daily, I knew how to, I chose not to, Many chose to and there appears to be no roll back. Everything in my stats I got by hardwork.
But think about this. I have a team mate that that had a motorbike accident and is now quadriplegic. He operates his computer with a stick in his mouth. Before scripts he couldn't fight and I doubt he'd be playing today. Is he a cheat because he's unable to use his limbs? Fight scripts and others are what have kept him playing! He's no cheat!!!

ReplyDeleteAll you had to do was look and see what people were posting to know there was a glitch...I saw a number of my mafia posting multiple links so I figured there was a way. A simple google search and I got a lot of info. I think it is great that info is posted here so we can all take advantage until zynga frees up their resources to fix the bug. If you all don't think zynga knows you are nuts. Knowing and caring are two different things and I bet they love all the chatter.

ReplyDeleteThis game is supposed to be SOCIAL. Not spam people into oblivion so you can finish each property to level 15 with items that will be obsolete in a few months. If you aren't building for stats, you are wasting your time. Not greedily ask for parts and not return them.
I click on the posts of people who click on mine and likewise when I click a parts request I'd like one back. You help me, I will go out of my way to help you and more than repay the favor.
These Level 15 properties are impossible to complete without buying the parts or being greedy. I choose neither.
Zynga fixes stuff all the time, and to assume that Jen has some sort of special power is complete BS. Don't like it? Leave the page and find something better. YOU WON'T! Jen and her team are the best.

When a great deal comes up for stocks or shares and a broker tells his clients, do his clients then go back and complain to the broker when the price of these shares increase due to his publicity of the fact that they were cheap and would make a profit? No they don't.
But people on here it would seem do. Ridiculous.
There are also far too many extremes being stated. People that use scripts are cheaters. No! They are people taking advantage of the situation. Not that i am saying its right but it also isnt wrong - it just is. You want to talk about cheaters then look at those that you may know who are cheating the benefit system and whose "cheating" actually hurts someone.
To those who say scripts are suppose to be used or they wouldnt be here. grow up! From that line of thinking everyone should be a stoner because cannabis exists. Everyone should always wear clothes because they exist. Nah i thought not. Also if they were supposed to be used then Zynga would have mad ethe game with them already included.
Its just a case of seeing the other person's point of view without necessarily agreeing with it (or disagreeing). Just a simple case of understanding where they are coming from.
This is no-ones fault. On reading through the above i want my ice cream and jelly cos i have obviously walked in on a toddlers party and i just dont feel like i have had the same fun as everyone else.
Grrrrrr! Life = important. Game = GAME. If people took this much care about racism, rape, murder, bullying then the world would be a much better place. Instead people spend their energy bitching about a game instead of the injustice in the world.
