Property Upgrade Strategy

It seems every time Zynga releases a new Limited Time Upgrade Property, something changes with the way the upgrade requests work. Other than a bug affecting the individual part requests (it was fixed), things appear to be the same with the Cage Fight Arena as they were with the Hangar. Whenever I post my “Any Part” requests/links, my inbox becomes populated with messages asking me how I able to make multiple posts. It involves a bug on Zynga’s end. This bug has been around for quite sometime and we have gotten many questions about it on the fan page. I will outline the method I use to do this. There are probably more efficient ways but this one works best for me and I don’t need to download or install anything I’m not already using on my computer. If this glitch gets fixed, don’t blame me. I'm not the first to post about it.



For review, there are 2 different types of upgrade part requests. The “Any Part” request is located on the Home Page and you can generate a request once every 8 hours.

The request will allow 6 of your mafia members to send you a part and then it will will no longer work. The parts you receive are selected in order from left to right of what you need. If you have enough Plexiglass parts to upgrade but still need Treated Lumber, you will get Treated Lumber. Once you have enough Treated Lumber, you will be given Galvanized Steel. If you have enough parts to get to the next level but 6 members haven’t helped you, there is carry over of parts to the next level.

When your mafia members click on your request, they will get one of 5 different message. As long as you need parts, 6 other players haven’t clicked on your request and they haven’t clicked on 10 Any Part requests in the past 8 hours, you will get a part. Once 6 players have successfully given you a part, the feed will expire and players will either get the “All reward from this feed have been claimed” or the “This feed has expired” message.

The “Individual Part” requests are located on the Property Upgrade Page. You can select which part you want your mafia members to send you by clicking the “Ask for More” button located under the part you desire. Most select the last one because the “Any Part” request fills the first two. Some may argue that the second item is better because you need more of them but I don’t like to get the same part from both requests and find the third item is the best.


Unlike the Any Part request, Individual requests do not expire until a new one is made. They are put on hold if you have enough to upgrade to the next level but as many of your mafia members as you need parts can send you one. Once you upgrade, the request will be active again.

When your mafia members click on your Individual Part request, they will either give you a part, be told you have enough parts or if you click on a old request be told it expired. If you already clicked on 10 Individual Part links in the past 8 hours, you will get the "You have already sent 10 parts today" message. It’s interesting that Any Part request say “You gave your friend Whatever part” but Individual Part requests say “Your Friend just received: Whatever Part”.

Now that we know how these requests work, you can use strategy on how you request them. It’s not a good idea to post both requests at the same time unless you are at a higher level and your Any Part requests will be used for the first or second item. You want to post your Individual Part request once your Any Part request has expired. Since I always choose the third item, I wait until the first item is full to post my Individual Part request.

There are a few tricks you can use to maximize on the number of parts you can receive in the 8 hours between upgrades. As long as your “Ask” button is visible on the Home Page, you can make multiple Any Part requests. To do so, open as many new windows/tabs as you want requests.

Normally, I keep it at 10 as this seems to be a manageable number. Some players get excessive and can open up as many as 50! Make sure each tab is on the Home Page of Mafia Wars.

Now go to your Spockholm Toolbar and select the Mission Crew Link Spocklet. You can also grab the drag and drop version here but then you will need to unframe each window. It's important to note that Team Spockholm created this script to generate a Any Part request as the game intends. It was not created for the purpose of taking advantage of the glitch.

Click on the Mission Crew Link on each window and ensure the following box is present.

Now click on the “Any Part” button in each window. Do NOT publish anything until you get them all open and see your spockon.me link and the “Post to wall” option.

This part is optional, but it makes opening your links with alternate accounts easier. Go to “Update Status” and paste your spockon.me links for each request.

Now you can generate each request. I find this works best if you allow auto-posting. Just click on the “Post to wall” link.
If you gave Zynga permission to post to your wall, a checkmark will appear and the link will say “Posted to wall”. I find all requests will make it to your wall if you use auto-posting.
If you haven’t allowed permission, a request will be generated and you need to click on “Share”.

With out auto-posting, only 10 requests will make it to your wall and you will get error messages after that. The links will still work.

When you are all finished, your wall will look ridiculous and those who don’t play Mafia Wars will probably unfriend you. You don’t have to post all your requests and can just use the spockon.me links if you saved or posted them. Each request will give you 6 parts as long as that many players click on them.

Many utilize their alternate accounts to get more parts. Each account can successfully click on 11 of your requests. The cap notification states 10 but it’s actually 11. Opening all these requests from another account can be a pain in the ass but there are tools to make it easier. I find the RapidLinkr is an easy way to open up multiple links. Just go to http://www.rapidlinkr.com/ and paste your links into the box.

Click on “Submit Links” and it will remove any text that is not part of a link.

You will now get a window that has all your links formatted correctly. Now just click “Open Links” and wait for all your windows to load. You will then have 11 more parts in your main accounts Property Upgrade Page. Do this for each alternate account you own to quickly upgrade your property.

Once all of your Any Part requests have been clicked on my 6 players, you have to wait 8 hours to make more. In the meantime, you can use your Individual Part request. If you want to get it back into the news feeds, just find it on your wall, right click and copy the link address.

Go to a url shortening service like tinyurl.com and create a tiny url to post in your news feeds.

Don't forget you can collect 4 parts per day from the news feeds. The cap message says 3 but you can get 4. Zynga doesn't make it easy to determine the limits of their requests because what actually happens is different than what the notifications say. You can send 11 Any Part requests and 11 Individual Part requests every 8 hours and accept 4 bonus parts from the news feeds. You are told in game that you can help 10 for each type of request and that 3 is maximum number of rewards.

You can see by my Stream Scanner results that I got 4 parts. I have verified this in the past as well as the helping limits.
