At the end of October, we were told via Mafia Wars Live that there would be a feature implemented that would combat the problem of icing players with high health values who used auto healers (1).
At the end of last month, it was unofficially announced that a heal gradient was implemented (1). Ever since then, there have been quite a few images of accounts with heal timers exceeding the minimum of 40 seconds. The minimum amount of time a player who has fully mastered New York can heal is once every 60 seconds. If they have a ruby NGO Mask (from Brazil), it's 40 seconds. The image below is from a high level player with a Ruby Level NGO Mask and you can see the heal timer is almost at 2 minutes.
If you don't manually heal, you may never notice the heal gradient. What we do know is that your heal timer will increase if you are healing frequently. What we don't know is how many heals does it take to trigger and maintain the heal gradient. The max timer I've seen is the one Ng captured above at 1:59 seconds. If Zynga is going to make a major change like this, they should really give us more information about it. Instead players who notice timers above what the game rules dictate are left confused or think they have a bug.

I first noticed this last Thursday. I was doing the last Boss Fight Mission in Brazil. The timer gradually increased to the 2 min. mark, stayed there for a while, then it went back down and started over.
ReplyDeleteI think it (the time to heal again) increases when you are healing without getting iced. And it resets when you are iced.
ReplyDeleteMeans if you can normally heal in 40 sec, when you heal again it increases to 45sec, if you heal again it goes to 50sec, then 55sec and so on....
Any idea what effect the Distillery bonus has on this? I understand that it only lasts until the next levelup (or ice/kill) and then is gone for another 8 hours. It has been quite entertaining watching a big fish try to swim through my 45K of bonus boosted health.

ReplyDeleteI noticed that the heal timer doesn't increase if I get iced (or ice myself). So my guess is that if you allow your health to drop below 20 than you'll still be able to heal every 40 seconds.
ReplyDeleteIn my family battle it did seem to have some longer times between heals but it also got where I couldn't even pay rp and get healed to 1005

ReplyDeletethe timer script is sweet, but it should work even harder.
there are too many work-arounds, as stated above...
Perhaps they should make an achievement for this!
