501 for 12,525 Reward Points

Share:

I forgot to post about the 2 new Limited Edition Loot items available in the Marketplace. They are Terminator vs Rambo featured items and cost 25 Reward Points each. It looks like the creative loot people got lazy and didn't come up with any clever sayings for these items. All they say is "Terminator vs Rambo". How boring is that?
Back in November, I told you about the drop down tab that was added to buy Marketplace loot in bulk (1). The most items you could buy at once was 25.
Sometime between now and then, a 501 option was added. Now you can buy 501 of the items you want in one click. Check out the Confirmed Match shown above. For just 12,525 Reward Points, you can have the best defensive armor score in the game.
Lets break that down. If you don't use wire transfers to buy Reward Points and they aren't on sale, the best deal is 1,000 Reward Points for $200.
You would have to make this purchase 13 times to have enough Reward Points to purchase 501 of the Good Luck shown above. That comes out to $2,600.00. 25 Reward Points x 501 is exactly 12,525. Zynga can't even offer some type of discount for buying these items in bulk!
Obviously one would wait for discounts or use the wire transfer program but at 40% off this would cost about $1,500. If you want all of your attack and defense categories to include the best loot items, it would cost about $20,000 if you bought Reward Points at the regular price. If you were business savvy and waited for a sale, it would be around $12,000. There must be a demand for this type of purchase or they wouldn't have bothered adding the 501 option to the drop bar. This is kind of a rip off to the players who would utilize it because they wouldn't need exactly 501 of each item. Look at the Harbinger that anybody buying these items in bulk would already own. What makes this set up even worse is that Zynga adds new loot to the Marketplace at a very fast rate. If a player spends $12,000 because he or she wants to have the best of everything, they are probably going to do it again when new loot items come out. Is Zynga taking advantage of these players? They really should offer some type of compensation in the form of a discount or buy back program when the best loot items are replaced with better ones in the Marketplace.

  2. Great perspective! lol when you put it in those terms, it makes it seem ludicrous that the option was even added. Do people ever really buy that much?

  4. Dear Jen.
Of course Zynga takes their responibility to buy back those high cost-items. You know it as much as I do that you have their own little store inside the game, and since they picked up their employee in Shanghai, he works in the shop for nearly no cost for Zynga. Of Course, yes, I'm talking about the dear Trader Goh's Pawn Shop! Good discount for your old stuff that has become worthless for you! :)

  5. I think the idea of a buy-back is a brilliant idea. Not even for RP (which they would never give away, god forbid) but for the opportunity to trade for the new marketplace items. Maybe trade 2 old ones for a new one, or some sort of credit system. I would especially like to trade in some of the crate items I got way back. They are less than useless now.

  6. wow 20 000, I don't come from a third world country, but that is a lot of money, for that you can buy a new car...imagine either a new car or good MW loot (which would last about a year or so)...if somebody has that kind of money readily available to just give away for a few pixels, I don't understand why they would play MW and not spend their whole days somewhere on a sunny riviera...
