Mafia Wars is constantly changing and one place that remains the same is the Marketplace. Zynga should take a look, revamp it and eliminate player confusion. For starters, the left column contains 3 items with a ‘New’ label but Daniela’s Deal, Trader Goh’s Pawn Shop, Collectable Stat Cards and the Fight Club have been around for years. The ‘Earn Reward Points’ feature doesn’t work and has also been there for years. With all these inconsistencies, how are we supposed to believe there is actually a ‘Deal’ on Limited Edition Loot?
The ‘Recommended For You’ feature on the front page is a joke. Why would anyone purchase old loot when they can get new loot for the same price? If Zynga wants us to buy older Limited Edition loot then they should lower the price.
The Bill Collector and the Asian Tapir were recommended for me but right above these items are better items in the same categories and they improve both my attack and defense score for the same price! These are the types of offerings that make players feel that Zynga thinks we are idiots.
Eventually, if you can scroll that far the items do become cheaper but why would anyone buy items that aren’t even useful? It’s actually sad that items with stats of 189/117 are going for the same price as items with stats of 309/246!
Perhaps the worst deception in the Marketplace is the Treasure Chest Key. Players without the Treasure Chests to open will get nothing for their key purchases and this is a long time bug Zynga could fix by just removing the feature [1]. There is no way to get new Treasure Chests and unless Zynga makes them giftable again, the popup which doesn’t work properly is the only option.
They haven’t updated the loot since October of 2012 and there are no ‘special items’ to be found.
Zynga should also use the Marketplace and not the home page to sell their stuff. Players who do spend money know where it is and players who don’t get annoyed with the constant popups and home page banners. Of the 12 banners I currently have on my home page, 9 of them are offering me gimmicks that I have no plans of ever purchasing.
