Boss Fight Walkthrough: Carlo The Coach

Share:

As mentioned in the By The Bookie Walkthrough, there is a Boss Fight tied into the latest Secret District. A second Home Page banner was created to highlight this and we learned the identity of the Boss. He is simply called Carlo The Coach and is probably up to no good!

Each level of mastery has it’s own Boss Fight which is located at the bottom of the By The Bookie Job Page.

To learn more about the Boss Fight, click on the yellow help mark.

boss7

Carlo The Coach is set up very similar to the way Roughouse Rafael and Kassina Kunoichi were but with a few twists.

boss9

To initiate the fight, click on the yellow “Fight” button tab located at the bottom right of the window. Right away you should notice the main difference between this Boss Fight and the ones of the past. There is a “Attack” button and we can use stamina in addition to Ammo items.

boss10

At first this looks wonderful but there is a catch. Each attack will cost 5 stamina points more than the one before it. The experience/stamina ratios look good but I couldn’t spot a pattern. I suspect the decrease as levels or stamina used increase.

boss11

I used the Secret District Boss Fighter to get a better log of the experience/stamina ratios. This one is from my main account and 1.49 is nothing to be excited about.

boss15

I used a stamina account and got the following. I’m not sure if your personal strength makes a difference or if the more stamina you use, the lower the ratio will be. This log was from the Ruby Level Boss Fight and shows 56,735 stamina was used and gave a horrible experience ratio of 1.09.

boss16

Like with the Family Boss Fights, you do damage to the Boss with each stamina attack but in this fight, the Boss does damage back.

boss13

When you run out of health, all you need to do is heal as you normally would. Attack by other players while you are doing the Boss Fight will bring your health down.

boss14

The 4 Ammo items you can use in this Boss Fight are Crack of the Bat, Knife Slash, Knuckles Punch and Odds in Favor. How to acquire each type of Ammo item is shown below.

boss17

The first three Ammo items drop while doing fights, jobs and robs. Once you have 50 items, they will no longer drop so you need to use them up if you want more.

Odds in Favor don’t appear to have a limit of how many you can store. You can collect 250 a day from Free Gifts, farm them from the job “Rough Up Silva So He Accepts Your Terms” or ask your mafia for them.

Each item does a range of damage. Zynga doesn’t provide the ranges but you can get an idea by attacking the boss with each item.

Using 4 Ammo items in a specific order is what Zynga refers to as combos. When you first enter the fight on the Bronze Level, you are given 1 Ammo combination and told you have to do 25% and 50% damage to the boss before they will unlock. There is also the option to unlock the codes early by using reward points and it is easy to unlock them on the Bronze Level. Don’t buy into their trap, this would be the equivalent of spending reward points to peek at Juliana’s cards in Mafia Poker.

All three combos are shown below.  The third one will do the most damage so that is the one you want to focus on using.

bfcombos

Zynga also gives the option to buy and use a combo for 3 reward points. This is a waste of reward points as well because the ammo items are not hard to get. If you purchase one, it automatically performs the combo on the boss.

boss6

Like with the individual Ammo items, the amount of damage done when using a combo is in a range. The damage will not appear over the boss, so to check and see how much damage you did, you need to look at the combo located underneath the fight. I did one of each and my results are shown below.

Green  Combo

Range: +50-+150boss28

Yellow Combo

Range: +100-+120boss27

Red Combo

Range: +200-+600boss26

Carl The Coach starts out with 2,500 health on the Bronze Level and increases to 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 for the Silver, Gold and Ruby Levels. In order to fight him on each level, you must also complete the corresponding level of By The Bookie. You can only fight him one time per level.

boss23

When you knock Carlo The Coach down to 0 health, the fight is over and you are rewarded the mastery item.

If you finish a level in By The Bookie, you won’t get the popup for your mastery item until you defeat the Boss. In situations in which you finish the jobs before defeating the Boss, you will get one popup with both the mastery item and the Boss Fight item. A district level is not considered mastered unless the Boss has been defeated.

boss25

Once you defeat the Carlo The Coach you can’t fight him again until you reach the next level of mastery in By The Bookie. A red X will appear over Carlos image and the Fight tab will remain shadowed.

  1. Hi Jen, I think your calculations are wrong regarding the stamina:experience ratios. In your image above the '+13xp' was for the 5 stamina attack and not the 10 stamina attack, making it a ratio of 2.6. If you then redo the rest you will see that the ratio actually falls randomly between 2.0 and 2.5 (the 2.6 for 5 stamina was due to rounding up).

I don't have access to try the secret district boss fight or check the code, but i think it may be tracking incorrectly as well.

    I just completed the silver mastery with stamina only and got the following results... 5/13, 10/23, 15/34, 20/41, 25/53, 30/65, 35/77, 40/87, 45/98, 50/119, 55/130, 60/145, 65/157, 70/150, 75/186, 80/161, 85/193, 90/225,

    Total: 855/1957 (2.29)

    1. Jen does do a great job, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to wait for a walkthrough before diving into anything new. But it's still good to point out errors so the information is as good as possible.

  6. this was a good event in spite of the annoying bandits, though as usual zynga takes one step forward and 2 steps back, the ice season has been cut down in time by a day giving 6 days to get 1,000 kills, and I am sure many noticed that when you ask for crew it now triggers a spam post rather then directly sending to others ZMC's, you can still do that, but you will need to play around to do so.

  7. Anyone else notice that Carlo the Coach looks like Marc Summers from the TV shows "Unwrapped" and (way back when) "Double Dare" kids game show?

  8. thank you. I have finished him off through the ruby level, but I did not know if he would regenerate if I spent 2 days taking him from 20,000 to 0. Would he have regenerated if I had left the fight and returned 10 hours later?
