Yesterday we were offered a 60% Game Card redemption bonus in the Marketplace. The offer was good for 24 hours (1). After doing the math, I determined it was a much better deal than the 60% discount offered for direct purchases from the Marketplace.
I received an email alerting me that my eCard was delivered at 1:37 in the afternoon.
I had a second email that said I could "Claim your eCard".
When I clicked on the "Claim your eCard" link, I was directed to another page with a "Claim" button on the bottom.
I clicked on the "Claim" button and was given the bad news that "Your pin will be sent to you in 12-24 hours". I was quite furious because the whole point of purchasing a eCard was to take advantage of the redemption bonus. At no time before the purchase was I told there would be a wait period. I feel this was done intentionally so the eCard would arrive after the bonus was gone.
I contacted billing was told that "At this point your eCard is in the screening queue". Screening queue my ass! I replied asking for a full refund and haven't heard back.
Zynga needs to stop taking advantage of their paying customers. I purchase a lot of Reward Points for blog posts explaining features and updates that Zynga doesn't even take the time to do. I'm probably the weakest Platinum Level player out there. It's been pointed out by my haters that I don't know the game because of this. Instead of fighting, blogging became my addiction.
If I knew this was going to happen, I would have purchased Reward Points from the Marketplace at 60% off. If I ever do get that eCard, it's too late to get any additional savings. One thing I can be certain about is I will never purchase an eCard again and I recommend that others do the same. It's too much of a hassle dealing with the follow up when the card doesn't arrive.

Same here! Buy RP to do blogging and speedup Mission :D
ReplyDeleteIf you want to buy, buy game cards from online retailers.. i did it twice.. one for 10$ and 1 for 5$.. this was just a test... they give the code immediately..
ReplyDeleteIt happen to me before Christmas. The comment by zynga thereafter was that you missed the 60% offer when I received the code 12 hrs later. What a ass-xxxx they are! Made me feel like a sucker to fall into their trap.
ReplyDeleteI too had the same issue with the delay at christmas.. i read ur blog bout the 30% off promo for the cards then using it on the 50% discount/ purchased the ecard at 6am.. got the same series as u of emails.. and got the code that night 1158 zynga time.. i called billing and told them and they went ahead and comp'd me the rps i should have gotten.. i just had to send them a screen shot of the "sale" prices
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me over the Christmas promotion. I posted here about it but my comments never appeared. Hope not too many got burned because I feel bad I wasn't able to warn about this problem.
ReplyDeletei did the same 2 weeks ago when they had the 60% off and then they said sorry it was rejected and your money will be refunded in 10 working days ..still no money back
ReplyDeleteI bought my husband an ecard before xmas, and he never got his rw until yesterday...so he never got his 60% off that day....
ReplyDeleteI got lucky, I bought the e-card in the AM and a hour and a half later I got the link to get my pin. I got to take advantage of the 60% so my $50 csard was 768RP
ReplyDeleteI got ripped off too. Just got off the phone with billing support and because they say it can take 12-24 hours to get this email (bunch of crap...it is electronic and should be generated immediately) that I did receive the email (18 hours later) and that they can't honor the 60% off reward sale. As a courtesy they said they can give me an additional 100 RPs...I told them I wanted a refund and they said they can't do that.
ReplyDeleteThey are supposedly escalating this to a higher level. I told them that if they can't honor my refund that I'll contest it with my credit card company as a bait and switch as I had ALWAYS gotten my PINs immediately...noti n 12-24 hours which puts you AFTER the sale. I call BULLSHIT on you Zygna...Fraud and deception.
Similar thing happened at w/the Christmas ecards ( not able to redeem once codes were sent, codes sent late, etc.). Get ahold of billing support (1- 800-762-2530) and make then honor the 60%.
ReplyDeleteThis is the exact method used for all ecard purchases and has been since they started selling ecards again. The problem with this system is that most are not buying ecards as gifts in the first place but as gifts for themselves. So the whole get the email to "claim the reward" is senseless. They should just send the code upon purchase. Paypal users have an additional delay as well.
ReplyDeleteAlong time ago, after Best Buy and I forget now who else stopped selling ecards because of the initialization of FB credits in the game, I didn't know who I was going to buy ecards from. Your site told me about walmart.com and I've been buying them there ever since. Two weeks ago when they offered the discount not only on the ecard purchase from Zynga itself, but the ingame redemption of 60% off, I tood advantage of that offer and purchase a few via paypal and when I saw the delay occurring because of the paypal used for payment and the "claim the reward" email I then tried with the credit card and within minute the code appeared in my email directly. So at this point I believe the problem occurs because of paying with paypal which makes absolutely no sense to me as paying with paypal should be just as good as using a credit card.
Either or, if they are going to offer 60% off for redemptions, they need to give people the additional time to cash in on that with the codes being sent via the delay of there own ecard system.
=did a paypal request a refund when this happened last time (the sstep before a dispute), got my $ back & wont be buying anymore. zynga can bite me
ReplyDeleteI quit purchasing anything from Zynga when the "Declare War" loot was stolen from our accounts awhile back. With all of the bullshit as of late in MW, I am not playing the game with the fervor that I once did. Instead I play Pot Farm. I enjoy it much more............just an option.
ReplyDeleteI got lucky, I bought a card when I saw the post on here with the 30% discount code and warning we would be able to redeem for a substantial bonus, I actually got my pin in time but it did take a lot longer than I thought. Ecodes are normally pretty much instant, or no longer than 10-15 minutes, something smells fishy about this to me...
ReplyDeleteFirst time I purchased an ecard, got the PIN immediately so was not hesitant to buy one for this promotion. However, this time I got the msg about getting my PIN in 12-24hr. AUGH.
ReplyDeleteI called the 800-762-2530 billing number they give & the lady was very pleasant. Didn't walk away with a PIN number though. I explained to her that if it took that long, the promotion would be over & it would have been a waste of money. She said that quite often these things do not take that 12-24 hr window and sent me a follow-up email that I could use if needed. ugh.
Not only did I not get a PIN immediately, in the follow-up email that was supposed to contain the PIN number from the Buy eCards site, when I clicked on it instead it contained a blank box. Yes. I was disgusted and just NOW looked. Now I'm *really* disgusted. ugh. Apparently I'm gonna have to follow-up MORE just to GET the ecard. *great* huh. More hassle.
If I could just go buy a card, I would. Buying an ecard online is the only option given where I live. This truly sucks. Talk about feeling like a bait & switch situation. Worse? I bought a couple as gifts for people & they've had the very same problem. Really great gift huh. Here ~ have a pile of hassle... and good luck on ever cashing in on your supposed gift ecard. Way to go Zynga.
i know this sucks, one could combat this if one is planning on playing for a while, purchase an e-card prior to a major us holiday, save the pin, and then when zinga major sale begins, you can input your pin. Not exactly timely gratificatin.
