For many players, the Mission Crew Link bookmarklet was the answer to dealing with the annoying Limited Time Upgrade Properties. You could generate a post as soon as your old post was expired. A few hours ago, Paula Andres made this post on the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page and stated that the Mission Crew Link was returning an error message. I checked it out on an alternate account and found things were working as they should. A few hours later, I saw more players state the same thing. I went to a different account and generated my Mission Crew Link. The first time around, everything worked as it should. I was able to post my request to the wall.
When I made the post above, I had 0 parts and needed 11 for the next upgrade.
I waited until I got 6 parts from the post above to make a second post via the Mission Crew Link.
I ran the Mission Crew Link again and everything came up as expected.
As soon as I clicked on "Any Part", I got a popup message that states "Please go to the home page and run again.".
This message was not added by Team Spockholm and Martin said on the Spockholm Forums "My first guess is Zynga enforcing the 8 hour timer.". Eike confirmed this and told me there is no going back. We will be now be limited to 8 hours between any part requests.
If you run the Mission Crew Link now, you will get an updated message from Team Spockholm.
This won't affect players who have already fully upgraded their Botanical Garden. There are a little under 3 and a half days left to upgrade.
The Botanical Gardens required a total of 292 parts to fully upgrade. You can generate a any part request and a individual part request once every 8 hours. You will get 6 parts for the any part request (less if you are on a level that requires less than 6 parts to upgrade). Individual part requests yield enough parts to upgrade to the next level. It will take much longer to upgrade the next property which we should see on Thursday or possibly next week. I don't know the name yet but it is Christmas themed. The irony of it all is there will be much less property spam going around the news feeds .

damn zynga restrictions
ReplyDeleteGreat Work dude.
ReplyDeleteThey are doing exactly what the players want. Reducing spam. You all should be happy.
ReplyDeleteThere's still a way around it, but it's a pain, and it means super-spam. I have a mini account I use to send parts to my main account. The limit per day for "Any Part" is listed as 5 parts, but it's actually 6. Plus the specific part = 7. So your mini account (and any single user for that matter) can send you seven a day.
ReplyDeleteSo here's the trick. Open 6 browser windows to the main mafia wars page where you can see the "Ask" button for property parts. Make sure ALL 6 WINDOWS have this visible. Click on ask on the first window and allow the popup to appear (this will not work if you've allowed Zynga to post as you). DO NOT CLICK ON THE POPUP YET! Do this for each of the 6 browser windows, until each has the popup window listed. Now go through each browser window and post each message.
I've used this trick for many of the limited time properties, but I used to stagger posting so that I didn't super-spam the feed. The reason I super-spam now is because Zynga periodically "refreshes" the screen, forcing you to lose the part request popup that was waiting. I really liked Spockholm's request because I could do it ad nauseum and not worry about spamming too badly. Guess those days are over. Wonder when they'll figure out and plug THIS hole as well...
Zynga just killed limited time properties.
ReplyDeleteLET JUST QUIT THIS BS GAME.
ReplyDeleteTHE NEW CM IS SHIT!!!!!
F*** and F*** and F*** Zynga those F***'s..sorry i just had to get that off my chest.....
ReplyDeleteQUIT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had two tabs open to the MW homepage and was able to post the request both times, even with it set to have Zynga post as me.
ReplyDeleteBloody hell. The latest is nearly impossible to complete. It would be easier if they let us click on more than 10 posts. People will quit over this next "property".
ReplyDeleteAs far as i can tell these properties are just designed to screw us out of reward points. How many new properties do i need that give me 3 or 4 a/d points a day? There is nothing new in these except the loot and we all know how fast that is outdated. I just cant figure out why i need anymore of the new properties updated to level 10, when the limit to collect is 5 properties. The other problem I see with these limited time properties is what is someone who starts playing today supposed to do use reward points? Way to go zynga, want to know why there arent any new players? Take a look at what you are doing to the game from the perspective of a new player.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. I was always relying on that. Darn. So much for doing these properties. They've turned to crap. I'm only on level 8 and I need 22 of the 64. That's ridiculous. They should lift the 5 a day limit. I am not going to use my RPs for this. So much for getting past level 4 in the next property. Damn you Zynga for taking the fun out of this game!
ReplyDeleteAs of this morning I see that they've also broken the City Crew and Energy Pack links.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that now only the Mastery Boost links are still working, perhaps because they still haven't fixed the problem with many/most people not being able to send them in-game (bug with the popup to send them not showing any names to send to).
In general I have no problem with them forcing the game to run as designed, however, I do think that they need to seriously reevaluate the timers and requirements as a result.
First of all, ELIMINATE ALL 8 HOUR TIMERS. The typical player simply is not and is not going to be able to maximize the benefit of them.
For illustration, the devs should consider what it would be like for them to be required to log into Facebook and click a couple of buttons every 8 hours to receive their daily salary, with their pay and benefits being reduced by 1/3 for each one they miss.
The absolute minimum should be a 12 hour timer, however, "per day" limits based on the local 24 hour clock are actually preferable to either, as they give each player the opportunity to maximize their enjoyment of the game even if they're unable to log on and play multiple times per day.
The title of this post should be "Zynga *fixes* exploit used by Any Part Mission Crew Gift Request." They didn't break anything, they simply plugged a hole.

ReplyDeleteI have played this game 2 years. Seen it all and done it all. There is always a way around Z. We just need to find it.

ReplyDeletehopefully the next property will be as useless as some where before, so i just don't need to bother about upgrading it...
OOOOR...
the gift collecter will be able to convert useless crap to upgrade parts, one day... THAT'S what i'd call "AAAAWESOME"!!! *clapclapclap* :-D

truthfully, they may be helping us. The only reason to upgrade to level 10 is to get the family rewards. But, unless there are super families that collect all the family points for icing and not properties, this won't limit most families since people have trouble getting the 150 ices per day, not the property points. Just my anonymous take.
