Brazil 3X & Chicago 2X Mastery

Share:

TOKO of the Mafia Wars Collector's site found some interesting banner images in the Zynga servers. It looks like we will soon be seeing 3X Mastery in Brazil and 2X Mastery in Chicago.
A few days ago I posted images of 3 new Special Event loot items which were added to the inventory(1). We weren't sure what these items were for at the time. Yesterday, 3X Mastery was offered in Italy and we learned where the Barb Dagger could be acquired (1).
Now it's easy to figure out the other two items. The Standing Jet Ski will be the item that drops in Brazil. This item will help many players so I imagine there will be a lot of participation. Considering the best experience/energy ratio in the game is in Brazil, there will be many Standing Jet Skis to be had. That is unless the new fight loot contains a attack weapon with higher stats.
The Stray Pistol will be the item that drops in Chicago. The Barb Dagger shown above is the loot item for the Italy Event and it is also an attack. The Stray Pistol is +1 higher so if you are doing jobs in Italy just to get Barb Daggers, I would stop and wait for next week.
The Official Mafia Wars Blog posted that there will be "Double Mastery" in Brazil "Next Week" (1). The banner image says 3X but the blog post says double. As a past contributing writer for the Official Mafia Wars Blog, I can assure you that what they give you to go off of doesn't always match what you see in game. If I had to choose, I would go with the banner image as being the correct amount of mastery. Overall I think this is great for players who are unable to master these destinations due to the extremely high energy costs and feel that this is a step in the right direction for the cause of player retention.

  2. I get the feeling that Zynga is trying to keep the few members still playing mafia wars by giving us a few "bones". Ummm, that is only going to last for a little while before they screw things up again.

  3. This is a total WTF. These cities are no where near old enough to offer 3x or 2x. This really smells of Zynga winding down the game.

  4. The bad part about these double and triple mastery events is that they do not give that in the money area, only on the mastery itself. When you get to the districts/sections near the end, you don't have the money to buy the needed items for the job. Makes it kind of hard to finish if you can't come up with the money. In addition, because Italian, Brazilian, and Chicago consumables are not sharable to our mafia via the in game gifting, we can't even share our leftovers to people who could really use all those smart phones, cooked books, etc..

Another thing, low energy accounts such as people who really only play the game for fighting and have low energy, should not even try to go past the first mastery levels on each district of Brazil or Chicago, simply because if your doing missions, you can keep that energy use low and not have to worry about coming up with 810 energy points per click on a mission job.

So while they are good for trying to get some extra skill points, I wouldn't look at it as a try to finish the city itself.

Just some tips that I've learned over the last year. All my cities are finished, so these double and triple mastery events hold no real interest for me, but those who haven't finished cities, keep in mind that your probably better off not finishing them.
