The Official Mafia Wars Blog is back at it with This & Next Week. They haven't posted one of these in a while and I was thinking they were done. If you watched Mafia Wars Live or read my recap, this is all old news. I'll skip the "This Week" items and just cover the "Bug Fixes" and "Next Week".
This Week's Major Bug Fixes
We investigated multiple load and game feed issues this week and continue to implement fixes as we determine the reasons behind them. We appreciate your patience while we adjust to recent social network changes.
TRANSLATION: Don't let the title fool you, we didn't fix jack. We don't know what in the hell is going on and can't figure it out. All blame should be directed at Facebook. We kind of like the fact that players are quitting for things out of our control for a change. This is just what we've been waiting for to explain away our rapidly decreasing player statistics. We can't ever find Facebook Live Chat so we sent an email to Facebook Customer Support and are still waiting for a reply. We hope they compensate us for our inconvenience and stop taking 30% of our profits. We will threaten to quit if they don't take care of us.
Coming Next Week
Henchmen Conversion
Henchmen will truly become a 5th item type in Mafia Wars and will carry new weight in fighting calculations.
TRANSLATION: Now you will need to get 5,010 of the best loot items instead of 4,008. Good luck that! We love pulling the loot refresh stunt the day after you get there. It makes us laugh.
Daily Take Extension
You'll soon receive new rewards for playing more than 7 days in a row!
TRANSLATION: We have to do something about our dropping daily player numbers. Bribing you to play more then 7 days in a row with rewards is how we plan to take care of the problem. We could listen to your feedback and make game changes so you want to play everyday but that's too much work.
Expansion Of Giftable Loot
We'll be increasing the level of giftable loot!
TRANSLATION: Rather than make top items giftable so the trading community will come back to life, we are just going to increase the current giftable limit of 65/65 to 85/85. We hope you don't notice that 85/85 is just as crappy due to our never ending loot refreshes.
Family Battle Tweaks
Family Battles will receive some improvements.
TRANSLATION: We listened to the Informant Podcast and are going to use the ideas that Pistol Pete and Chainsaw Chester came up with. Why didn't we think of these to begin with? At least we didn't need to pay anybody.
New NYC Property
We'll be releasing the 4th new time-limited upgradable New York property.
TRANSLATION: Spam is the new ice. These property upgrade things are awesome in generating a large number of posts. Since Facebook screwed up the news feeds, we need to get more content out and this is our number one. Expect them every week. Maybe we will require you to equip all 501 of your mafia with a property. Those Henchmen can't be sleeping on the streets.

ReplyDelete@Tyler, I should care about this because? I don't know what kind of cherry bubble you've been living in but if you haven't noticed the game is going south really fast. I hardly enjoy it anymore and I've lost thousands of fans because they quit playing Mafia Wars. If Zynga would provide non-depressing things to write about then maybe I could shove a ray of sunshine up your ass.

@MW Lootlady, I think that you just made a contradictory sentence. First you say that you don't care about me leaving, but then you bring up the point of thousands of your fans leaving. Don't you think that if you were more optimistic, you could make others look at the game in a way that will make them keep playing?

Reason being why I wouldn't care about you leaving (which obviously you aren't) is thousands have already left because they quit the game so why would it phase me in the slightest that someone chooses to leave because I'm not cheery enough. Good luck one finding anybody who is. If you do, I doubt they would bother explaining things the way they are. It's not my job to influence player retention or attract new players. If Zynga can't do that on their own then why should I even try. From now until the games dies or I decide to quit, I will tell it like it is and if people don't like it they can leave and I could care less. This really isn't a fan popularity contest and collecting fans isn't why I do it.

I visit at least every other day to get the scoop on the game as you provide some of the best if not the best run down on the happenings going on and we all take the good with the bad and lord knows there do seem to be a lot more of the bad going on right now. It is almost as if they (Zynga) are trying to kill the game without coming right out and saying game over....
