Here is the latest and greatest rumor to hit the news feeds and skype in a town near you. Once again, the most ridiculous things spread like wild fire in the Mafia Wars community. Read it for yourself. Zynga has enough going on with the Fight Module to even consider doing something this drastic.

 Is this true???Is this true??? Please tell me its just a stupid rumor being passed and that Zynga is not even remotely considering this. If you do then you will lose more fighters because it would prevent me from playing with my friends who put much more money into the game than I would ever dream of doing which would mean I would leave the game too. Not to mention I don't know how the clans would have wars or mocks if we couldn't share links.  This is what is being passed around: Due to a high level of complaints and departures of players from Mafia Wars. We have decided to level the playing field. We will be eliminating the rivals feature in fighting as well as players being able to copy other players links and posting them. We are also going to devise a way to separate players according to how much money they spend on purchasing reward points and loot. Stay tuned as more changes are coming When I asked for confirmation as to where it came from I got this: Sorry came from customer support: A friend received this from Zynga passed it to me, Ive read a copy of a conversation from one of ours with Zynga support who confirmed it. Here is part of her conversation, I removed her name. Jacob Z.: , let me tell you that the new formant of fights and other thins have been receiving a lot of complaints. Jacob Z.: That's why you received that message, that new Format will be removed for a while, while our Developers work on improve on it. m: so we wont be able to copy n post others links? m : im in a clan and all the clans in mafia wars relay on this feture m : i can assure u, clans keep me interested in mafia wars and without it, i can assure u i will not be playing this game for long Jacob Z.: Well, I am not sure about that. Jacob Z.: The problem with that is that there were a lot of players over attacked. Jacob Z.: And there were a lot of complaints regarding to this. Jacob Z.: We just want to make your gaming more enjoyable. m : over attacked probably means they were sittin on a lower player or in a war with their clan which is expected in clans m : well i can assure u it will not be enjoyable without that feature Jacob Z.: But I definitely forward your suggestion, because I really want to make your game more enjoyable. |

How much money they spend on PURCHASING REWARD POINTS?? Where do the majority of players fit into this model i wonder? I for one haven't spent a single red cent purchasing reward points or loot, and have no intention of ever spending anything, ever!!

I hope CM is on target regarding the whole rumor, although I can certainly see where Zynga would consider doing this. After all, they listened to the whiners and started giving XP for LOSING fights - but failed to increase the XP for WINNING to at least be commensurate with returns from robbing.

Actually, I have a suggestion that if I could get to Zynga (and if they could implement) believe would help solve the inequity created by awarding XP to "losers", the lower-than-robbing return, and also potentially reduce the complaints about "bullying".
ReplyDeleteIt's actually quite simple - base fighting returns on difficulty - if you beat an opponent within, say, no more than 20% less strength than you have (total A/D, not counting boosts), you get 5x rewards. If they have more than 20% lower strength but no more than 40% less, you get 4x rewards. More than 40% lower to 60% lower, you get 3x rewards. More than 60% lower to 80% lower, you get 2x rewards. Over 80% lower, you get 1x - the same as they would get when attacking you and losing.
Would at least somewhat discourage the "monsters" from sitting on the "babies" quite as much, and also encourage a bit more risk taking in choosing targets from the fight screen.
