"New" Energy Pack Review

Share:

I still have the new but now old Mini Energy Packs on my main account. I expect them to be snatched away at anytime so I went ahead and used all of the ones I could.  I suggest you do the same if you still have them.
My energy account has the old but now new Energy Packs so I was able to see how they work. For now you can only use one a day and it will be equivalent to 125% of your total energy. When they are finished "working diligently" the Energy packs will go from a 23 to a 8 hour timer.
Believe it or not, we still have to beg for these. It won't be as bad as the Mini Pack system because we can keep 5 in the queue. When you click on the "Ask" button, a Facebook request form will be generated. This is a nice feature that they started to roll out with the Mini Energy Packs. I guess they weren't planning on nerfing them so quickly.
What seems odd is that if you already used your "Energy Pack" for the day, you get a notification telling you so when you send your mafia members Energy Packs. Bill Johnson got the first one and I got the second one. The message that Bill got at least tells him that the recipient was sent energy. I'm just left wondering.
There are two ways to send energy to your mafia, click on the ask button and you will see the new Energy Pack request page. I can't stand request pages because they are so slow.
A faster and easier way to send you mafia Energy packs is to go to your My Mafia page and filter by friends who need energy.
Once you do that, all your mafia members stored in your My Mafia page will show up with a "Send Energy" button.
Simply click the button and your mafia who need energy will be taken care of. It's a really fast process. If you want to send to specific player, just use the search bar.
Personally, I like the bigger packs, but I need a lot of experience to reach the next level. The Mini Packs never helped me because I never took the time to ask for them. The new/old system should be easier. I do understand that the majority of players liked the concept of the Mini Packs and got used to asking for them. I don't think Zynga was ever told that players didn't like the Mini Packs because they hated to use their energy 1/6th at a time. This truly demonstrates a disconnect between what the players tell Zynga and what action they take. The really sad thing is that there were some players who never got the Mini Packs so they didn't get a chance to formulate an opinion about them. I'm sure there is more behind this swift action to take Mini Packs away than meets the eye. As far as I see it, it's a nerf being justified by player feedback that was misinterpreted.

  2. I agree that it sucks in a way for those who never even got to form their own opinion.. but then again, maybe it's easier that they didn't have to start converting over to the new system? Who knows.. all I know is that I am tired of the changes that aren't helping us in any way, and they don't seem to care. And like everyone else I feel like they don't care as long as we are still buyin them RPs. They have so many things that they need to fix as it is.. wish they would just concentrate on that for awhile.. rather than bring in all the Spam events and new ideas... Oh, and I'm STILL waiting on the Crack The Safe junk.. Argh!

  3. Same for me - it's easy to create that link and I actually never had a problem getting my 6 packs a day. I still have them, and really hate to have to return to the old system again. The packs helped me to double my daily levelling, when used wisely. I hardly wasted energy or stamina when levelling. Even with 3 x 125% energy daily, this won't'be possible. I just means that a lot energy will be wasted again. There are only few in my Mafia that are happy about this change, so my guess is, that most of the players would prefer to keep the Mini Packs. Why don't I get rid of the feeling that Zynga is on the edge of skipping this game? They seem to take every opportunity they get to p*** off the community.

  4. As a level 800+ player with around 2000 energy I found the mini packs fairly useful in 'controling' energy in order to level. After levelling up I would use all possible energy and stamina. This would leave me requiring full energy to level up (approx). If however I used my toolbar boost or collect a mission boost of xp's it would mean I would waste my full energy pack to level up as not all would be used. Therefore the mini packs allowed me to use 2/3 at a time in order to level up enabling me to play smarter. If all the enrgy/stamina pick ups are used well then the mini packs helped me to level up around 10 times a day whereas now I will be fortunate to level up 3/4 times and pssibly NOT even have the opportunity to use the full pack in the time that i am playing. Im sure others would agree with me, no matter what the level.

  5. They didn't ask those of us who really liked the new packs. I always waste so much of the energy with the larger packs, I was able to level up at least twice more a day with the smaller packs. Oh well, easy come, easy go.

  8. OK Jen - as a PAC member pls explain to us how you are effectively having input into the game - Z are paying lip service and you clowns with a freebie weekend are colluding in it - if the players and PAC are being ignored why bother just resign

  9. Q: How long is the timer for the Energy Pack?
A: The Energy Pack has an "8 hour timer". After you use an Energy Pack, you must wait 8 hours until you can use your next one.

    zyngas not listening!!!!
    i may now QUIT!!!!
    BS!!!!!!

  10. I always just need a little more energy to level so I love the mini-packs because I just need one or two to level. This means that with the mini-boost from the toolbar and the property in Brazil, I can level 6-7 times a day. Too bad Zynga continues to exhibit the worst customer service I have seen in this industry. It just doesn't seem to listen and continue to make the same stupid mistakes over and over.

They are leaving the door wide open for someone else to lore the loyal players away with a better game and customer service.

  11. heres my theory, with the minis you got a mystery bag back and if you say, for example, went to someones gift link archive you could click on every old one they had and get a mystery bag. so doing this, you click on the mini pack, then on any item, i used mystery bags. since i had high end italy loot on my wish list, i got tons of em in just a couple days. so imo they may have nerfed this cause of people exploiting this to get italy loot. granted you can do the same with just accepting mystery bags, this way was a lot faster. just my 2 cents :D

  13. The mini-s were the best! I don't need much more than 25% to end up leveling after spending my energy and stamina.. so its all pointless to have such a massive boost.. who are they catering to here? full blown fighter accounts?

  14. The new energy packs blows. Zynga f**k up this up as usual. Mini's was the best. It allowed me to level about 8 times a day. Full energy pack are nothing but a waste!

  15. This is getting sad and ridiculous at the same time. Just when we were getting used to the new mini packs and liking it for the flexibility, they had to listen to a very small bunch of players and switch them around. What was the problem with getting them from your mafia? Hardly anyone I know complains about it, it always has to do with some fk up player who makes the most noise. Make arrangements with your friends or use your alternate accounts to send a bunch.. it is that simple! What is the point of giving a huge boost every 8 hours when most of it goes to waste? Seriously, it looks like Zynga is finding ways to piss off loyal players

Did you just refer to the Lady that runs this extremely informative blog, someone who spends an incredible amount of time helping others...as a clown???

Are you out of you're vulcan mind!

  17. Yes, Indeed Zynga make's another blunder, I agree with Jen there is more to this than meet's the eye. Over the next couple day's when they see the drastic drop in gameplay, maybe they will regroup and make a better decision. But then this game was never about us, it's about the money .. rp's but then if all the player's that play the game for free stop or lose interest, then the spender's won't have anyone to play with :)

  18. I don't agree with calling names, but I question the effectiveness of the PAC itself and whether they do speak for everyone else. It is admirable that some players take it upon themselves the extra burden of representing the community and to speak up on issues and we all appreciate that. But time and time again, we have seen how 'useful' any input turns out, especially coming from people who are not working for Zynga in the first place. We have issued boycott threats before, but it didn't work. They will listen a little bit and threw some bones to chew for awhile, but at the end of the day, they will do anything they please regardless of any constructive feedback given by the community. So the whole concept of the PAC is rendered ineffective and questionable.

The mini energy pack system works well for many players that I know of, and it was a welcome change to the game. The only issue that bothered us was that we had to save some requests for the energy packs and hope our friends respond in time. But somehow Zynga decides to switch it back to the old system because another group of players didn't like it. If the PAC is in favor of the old system, do the rest get represented if they prefer the new one? What do we do next?

  19. Mini's the best?? With all the begging and spam, it was the worst idea by zyn-goons. Good thing big energy packs are back..w/ an 8 hr timer! Fighter accounts FTW!

  20. I just posted a comment awhile ago and now it is gone. All I did was ask how useful the PAC is. I never realized censorship is present on this blog too. Good night.

  21. @JM, sometimes comments end up in the spam section and I have to approve them before they are posted. I don't censor unless racist or harmful comments are made. The PAC was not in favor of the old system. Obviously we aren't being listened to on many points but we don't run their business so we can't force them to do what we suggest. We don't represent our personal desires and try to push what the community as a whole would want. Effectiveness of the PAC is something that can't be measured on one thing. Most forget Zynga is a business and they have reasons for doing things that we are and never will be aware of. Mafia Wars is just a small part of Zynga so maybe they are sick of the community and want to fail?? Nobody knows.
