The Informant Podcast: April Fools Day Shockers

It's hard to believe we have done 50 episodes of the Informant Podcast. We are approaching the 100,000 download milestone and will have a big celebration. We couldn't have done it without all of our listeners! Since the show aired on April Fools Day, there were some shenanigans by our very own Pistol Pete. Always the jokers, Team Spockholm played a joke on their fans by offering a too good to be true bookmarklet called the Daily Collector v0.41 beta. It claimed to collect old fanblast bonuses. You could click on it as many times as you wanted and you would get a fake reward.

The fans and admin of Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page had some fun as well. Arvind became the antithesis of Trader Goh and Adeline got us all excited to think that high end fighting loot was giftable!

Karan posted Zynga RewardVilles joke in which a free toaster was offered to every new account and you had a chance to win 100 slices of bread.

Aaron was the first to Rick Roll us by posting a link that claimed to be for free Reward Points. Da Irish Kid explained to me that Rick Rolling is a prank web surfers play on each other. The goal is to trick your friends into clicking on a link and the link takes you to a video of the Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up". If you don't believe me, read all about it here.

Cerulean Master, Super Moderator, had a good one for some unsuspecting Mafia Wars players. I got the following private message.

April Fools Day Oops, sorry, no warnings or infractions given.

I think my April Fools joke got lost in a sea of posts about new events (1). I didn't even get one LOL! Maybe I'm just not funny.

However, it is quickly offset by some other news he received that he keeps a secret for most of the show. Meanwhile, he discusses the new Boss Fight Spocklet that is going to be released. As well as the Spockon.me service for shortening MW URL’s that Team Spockholm should be incorporating in Link-a-Nator, Get-A-Nator, and Bagman Mugger. Jen is back and covers all the new stuff that is being released. There is an April Fool Day event is the Beat the Devs, a recommendation by the PAC group. Chester talks about the Merger and deep rooted Family history in the Mafia Wars game. He also talks about how much the game has changed and specifically how Red Icing has changed.
