Yesterday I made a post about the Brazil Crew bonuses and I stated that the Lockpick bonus didn't work (1). Thanks to my reader comments, I can see that it actually does. Who knew that a green border around a dropped loot item indicates that you got two of them? I made a mistake of assuming the drop would actually show 2 loot items or tell you that you got two of them.
This is why Italy and Las Vegas are way better on the information side of things. You are told what drops and the quantity.
Now that I know a green border indicates 2 loot items, I tried my Lockpick bonus again and left nothing to assumptions. I documented before and after images directly from my inventory and I was happy with the results. Prior to activating my Lockpick bonus, I selected a job that drops a consumable item that I had zero of.
I then activated my Lockpick bonus.
Before
After
I did 20 jobs and saw the green border which isn't present when the Lockpick bonus is inactive. The image of the mafia member selected to be your Lockpick will also appear above the "Do Job" button during each job that counts towards the bonus.
In addition to the consumable item, I also got 2 Freighters which is a high end loot item.
I noticed that the collection items that dropped do not have the green border so you don't get double. That's not a big deal since these things drop like flies and you can only hold 5 of each in your collection inventory.Double the loot also counts towards building parts. Too bad I never got any parts that I could actually use for my Brazil properties.
While doing jobs in which the Lockpick is activated, there is a progress bar. It's yellow in the beginning and turns red when the bonus is about to expire.
When it's all over, a timer will appear indicating the time in which you can reactivate it.
No for the moment of truth. Here are the before and after images from my inventory of the Satchel Charge and the Freighter. I did 20 jobs and got 40 Satchel Charges so this is proof the Lockpick bonus works. Sorry I didn't know about this green border earlier. I was mad when I thought I didn't get double loot and I'm sure many other players were as well. This is why this type of information should be readily available in the game and the players shouldn't be left trying to figure it out on their own.

Does the 'Embargo Net' actually do anything now?
ReplyDeleteThey removed the +10% bonus income from its description page...
Good Post and also good job on copy-righting ( watermark) your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe important trick is to not activate your Lockpick and Strategist at the same time: you get double mastery and double loot, meaning you get the same number of loot drops!
ReplyDeleteUse Lockpick to farm Gas Cans, Button Cameras, Satchel Charges, Radio Phones and Local Informants, then use the Strategist where you need to spend them. That way you'll need half as many.
Note also that mastery percentages do not appear to decrease with each level of mastery, although the energy required does increase to egregious levels!
Wow i just assumed it was giving me 2 never really tracked it. Now I know if it actually is doing what its supposed to.
ReplyDeleteyup2. Z need to show the info better. instead of green shadow, why not a picture of 2? that would make more sense than green shadow of who-knows-what-is-that?
