A few days ago, I posted a Mafia Wars profile and asked players to comment with their ideas of why some strong players were losing (1). I did so because I was helping someone figure it out and didn't have the answers to his questions about it. I should have added a question mark to the title Fishy Account. I appreciate those who gave helpful and insightful answers. For those who took this as an opportunity to anonymously criticize me, all I can say is that you read the post first.
Did I said this player cheated? No, I said it was a possibility that it could be an injected account.
Did I say I was really strong and was shocked I lost? No, the player I was helping didn't want his identity and stats to be posted so I attacked him myself to get a screen shot.
Was I pissed off that I lost? Not at all, I lose all the time and it doesn't really bother me.
Do I claim to be a Mafia Wars guru? Never. I like to read and write. If I was a guru and knew all the answers, there wouldn't be a need for me to post any links on this blog.
Are my skills where they should be since I'm a Platinum Level player? No, I like helping and explaining concepts to players. It takes a lot of Reward Points to verify and test things as well as and completing events in a timely fashion. I thank all who donate as it helps with the cost of doing this.
If I get annoyed at the idiots who post anonymously, why do I allow it? This is because it would deter those who have useful things to say from commenting.
Do I carefully plan out each post I make and throughly edit them before publishing? Hell no, I don't have time. Everything I do is in my free time. I enjoy it and treat it more like a hobby. As the months have evolved, I find I have less and less time. Once making blog posts about Mafia Wars isn't fun anymore or I decide to go back into the work force, I will just stop doing it. Comments like these make me question if it's even worth the effort.

ReplyDeleteI think for the most part you have hoards of lurking fans who don't make the effort to say thanks for all you do. Its like being in customer service, everyone complains, but the happy ones often don't take the time to submit a compliment. Just human nature I guess. I'm in sales, so I know much of what the world says just has to roll off of my back. Rest assured you are on the right track. Much appreciated but under complimented! Having to censor every word you wrote would be no fun.

You shouldn't really question your work as it means the world to must players that read your blog.......Hhmmmmm, lets see what we were missing, if you gave up. Tips & hints, Shortcuts to the gameplay, walktrough to part in game - like bangkok mission(Thanks for that by the way, A player that love the game and .......OHH yes, a nice voice on the Informant podcast.

ReplyDeletedo you think that people might be annoyed that instead of disseminating info you are using it for other purposes. if that player was so curious about the person that whipped his azz maybe he should take it to zynga not attempt to out them here. just my thoughts though this is like the second time you did this, last time you effed up with the guy that took you off the hitlist. this sure is turning out to be more of a shame mw player blog. nothing personal just telling you how i read some of this stuff.

his robbing success rate is way too high for someone that put all their skill pts in energy/stamina/def... btw, i consider it a low chance that he just repeatedly robbed a weak target when you look at his 9-0 count
his fight stats look seem too low for a stamina acct.. looks more like an extra account created for kicks.. perfect recipe for someone to try injecting points.. if zynga bans the acct would he really care?
I'll admit it - I can't be bothered to do the math, so I appreciate the discussion. I'm always curious about some of the players I encounter. Keep asking questions!
