Smokin' Double Barrels

Share:

The Weapons Depot event is called Smokin' Double Barrels.  It's located on your home page and will last for 7 days.  There is an ever present timer so you will always know how much longer it will last.
Right away, you will get the pop up telling you all about it.  You get the option to ask for Gun Barrels which is the special part needed to craft the exclusive limited time items and you get bonus construction parts.  Each player will get enough to upgrade their Weapons Depot one level.  I'm not sure how many constructions parts players who are already fully upgraded get but it shouldn't matter since they don't need them.
Generate a feed post by clicking "Ask for Gun Barrels" so your mafia members can send them to you.  When they do, they will get one too.  You can send ans receive a maximum of ten each day from the news feeds.
Gun Barrels can also be sent and received as free gifts.  Look for them on the free gift page and in your gift requests.
This means they can be found on the Link-a-Nator and Get-a-Nator too!
Don't let the home page box confuse you if you haven't gotten enough gun barrels yet to craft a weapon.  You need 8 to craft the and 6 for the Lock and Stock. The home page keeps track of how many you have and counts down for you.  As the number of Gun Barrels you own increases, the number under the weapons will decrease until you have the required amount.
It also lets you know how much time is left before you can craft your next weapon.  This is a great feature and I wish it was permanent and included the Chop Shop, Armory and the Port.
When you go to your New York property page, you will notice it says "New Items" above the Weapons Depot.
When you build the two limited time items, you can generate more posts for the news feeds.  Players can click on these to get more Gun Barrels and they will count towards the 10 per day limit.
Those are the first and last of limited time loot items I will be buying.  This will all make sense when I explain the best part of this event.  I told you yesterday that the crafting timer for the Weapons Depot would be cut in half.  What I didn't expect was that the cost to speed up the timer was also cut in half.  Gone in 60 Hours was the last event similar to this one but it involved the Chop Shop and it still cost 12 Reward Points to speed up the timer even though the timer was reduced to 12 hours.
This is huge because now it will cost you even less Reward Points to get skill points added to your character. I should clarify something that is always mentioned anytime someone states that it's much better to spend Reward Points on skill points than energy and stamina refills.  Someone always says that an energy refill will level you up and you will get +5 skill points so it's better to buy the energy refill. This is still not true no matter how anyone wants to spin it.  It's way more fun to buy the energy refill so you can keep playing but in the long run your character will benefit much more by using Reward Points for skill points.  Maybe this example will make thing more clear.  Player A buys energy refills with his Reward Points and Player B buys skill points.  Player A will get to level 1,000 faster but when Player B get there, he will have a much better character.  All Player A did was waste Reward Points to get the same +5 skill points that Player B will get for free. A skill point is more valuable because it lasts forever.  I'm sure there are others who can explain this better than me but there are so many who will always disagree with this concept.  My answer to the question below is hell yes! For the duration of this event, I will use every Reward Point I have to buy skills for my character.
I've been working on increasing my attack skills so I'll be focusing on the Pair of Stun Knuckles which will add +6 to my attack score.  This will cost 1 Reward Point per skill point which is a great deal considering it normally costs 14 Reward Points for 4 skill points in the Marketplace.
Here are all the skill enhancing abilities to choose from during this event.
If you want the limited time weapons just to have them in your inventory but would rather craft other weapons, use Stream Helper by Team Spockholm (1) to collect them for you.  All those players who got the free construction parts to upgrade their Weapons Depots will be doing so now. Bossy Don was lucky and got 3 of each (1).

I didn't get any on my run but might try again.  She only completed 47 searches and I did 580.  All the bonuses have either dried up or Zynga took the limited time weapons off the menu.  Because I now own 40 Blazing Santokus, I think Zynga is responsible.

  1. going with stun knuckles is great in all but will cost you the normal amount of weapon parts and special parts. If you want to consume LESS inventory go with the +5 cheaper route...:-)
    Thanks, Patterson.

  2. there is but one timeline problem with your logic, you said "Player A will get to level 1,000 faster but when Player B get there, he will have a much better character." that is absolutely positively true, but, by the time Player B gets to level 1000, Player A will likely be by level 2000+ at which his character will be most probably stronger than Player B's character, even though at the same level he would not have been stronger.
your logic implied that after level 1000 Player A's character doesn't get stronger and waits for Player B to level up, which he does not, instead he levels up even more and the gap between the players becomes greater and greater, when Player B will be by his 2000th level, Player A will likely be 5000+.
your logic would be true if there was a definite level, like in most MMORPG's, for example level 1500, than it would not be about who reached the level first, but instead about how he placed his skillpoints and how many he wasted on energy and stamina in compared to attack and defense.
still, 1 skillpoint for 1 RP during this event is the best value you are ever going to get for your RP's, so now is the time to use them.

  3. @Anonymous, this is why I added "there are so many who will always disagree with this concept". The pace at which someone will get there is not that much faster as you outline. My Player A and Player B example was to grasp the concept and maybe 1,000 isn't the level I should have chosen. Level means nothing in the game and everybody will get +5 skill points no matter when they do. Strategic players will have more skill points in the long run because they didn't buy into your theory that is the more popular one.

  4. @Anonymous

Welcome to Player A and Player B
Both receive 500RP by levelling up to level 1000...

Player A buys 50 energy refills and gets to level 1050 (0 points in front)

Player B buys 250 energy points points and stays at level 1000

Player A and Player B Keep playing, time passes and Player A gets to level 2000

Player A has got ANOTHER 1000RP and bought Another 50 Energy refiles and levelled up 50 times and is now level 2050 (still 0 point in front)

Player B hasn't got to level 2000 as they WHERE 50 levels behind Player A but they have caught up 10 levels as those extra 250 skill points have made a difference
Level 1960 ONLY 480 RP to spend and buys ANOTHER 240 skill points (now 490 Skill points in front of the other player)

Much time passes and Player A gets to level 5K
They got ANOTHER 1500RP they bought 150 Energy Refills and levelled up a extra 150 times
they are now Level 5150 (still 0 skill points ahead)

Player B mean while with all their extra skill points has been levelling like crazy and has ALSO caught up to Player A and made level 5K
They ALSO got another 1520RP in the catch up
with these RP they bought MORE skill points and scored another 760 skill points ON TOP of the 490 they already have they NOW have 1250 skill points MORE then Player A and have caught up to player A

From here on Player B falls behind
Player A is the Winner Hands DOWN!

Now these Vaules have been INCRESED to make a point, REALLY between extra RP that you get via, lucky stash, customer support, zynga, mystery bags, red mystery bags, secret drops, and any other method to get RP player B catches up MUCH faster
really 2 identical accounts, should break even around level 1500 (as long as they arent serial levellers)

  5. ZYNGA NERF ALERT- it now costs 12 RP to rebuild the weapons, instead of the previous 6.. i'm so pissed since i bot points for this very reason..

regarding the skill point argument: everyone has valid reasons but it basically depends on each one's purpose of the game.... those who want to be the highest level should listen to bossy don... but if you want to be tough, you should put the pts into A/D.... personally, i take little solace into being a level 3K energy acct that gets tossed around by a a lvl 600 figher
