{P.I.F.} Pay It Forward {P.I.F.}

Share:

There is a really cool Mafia Wars group called Pay It Forward {P.I.F.}.  {P.I.F.} is all about helping others and encouraging members to do the same.  One thing many of us like about Mafia Wars is we get many opportunities to help other players.  Most do so because it makes them feel good and not because they expect something in return.  {P.I.F.} is a place you can donate the loot you don't need anymore and give it to players who do.  It's more personalized than just randomly dumping it to your mafia.  This is also a great place to go if you don't feel ready to trade on the big trading sites.  {P.I.F.} is set up very similar to a trading site.  The wall is used to offer the items you want to give and is monitored 24/7 by the friendly admin.  {P.I.F.} is for both new and experienced players.  Remember the movie Pay It Forward? A little boy brings a simple idea to life.  He taught others to do favors and random acts of kindness for people without asking for anything in return.  The people you help should in turn do the same for somebody else and so on and so on.  Just like the movie, {P.I.F.} brings this philosophy to Mafia Wars and in some cases, real life.
To get started, go to the {P.I.F.} link above and explore the site.  Sai Yadlapalli, a {P.I.F.} admin did an wonderful job organizing the site.  It's obvious that he knows a thing or two about computers because all of the pages look great and are easy to use.  The first thing you will notice is that {P.I.F.} is not just a group, they are a family.  The following is the overview found in the Information Section.
"We are a peaceful family, intent on helping each other and having fun. All levels are welcome on {P.I.F}. A community where excess of loot lying in inventory is sent to people who can use them to fight, defend and enjoy the game more."/{P.I.F.} Overview
To show that {P.I.F.} is indeed a family, here is the tag of Richard Latham who is one of the Admin.  You don't need to tag yourself to be a part of this family but the option is there if you want to show other Mafia Wars players that you support this cause.
The {P.I.F.} Welcome Page is one of the best I've seen on Facebook.  You will find all kinds of great information to help you integrate into the group, learn how to use the Mafia Wars helping tools, and keep up with the game.
The {P.I.F.} Wall is where all the action takes place but you will see the information box in the left column contains links to help you navigate.
The most important thing to read is the Guidelines Section.  Here you will find all the admin and rules for the site.  Just like with trading, Pay It Forwarding must be regulated.  Because of this, there are rules that must be followed.  Before you can post to give or comment to receive loot, you must have at least 4 of the Admin as friends.
While you are waiting for the Admin to accept your friend requests, read the rules so you will know what you can and can not do.  Don't worry if you do something wrong in the beginning because the admin and other players will help you get it right.  It's also a good idea to make sure you know how to use Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator.  This is will help you and the Admin determine what loot you do and don't need.  Click HERE for my instruction guide.
If you need more mafia members, they have an Add Me Section.  Like they say, {P.I.F.}ers Make Good Mafia.
There is also an external {P.I.F.} Website.
The {P.I.F.} Website is where you will find The Wall Of Shame which resembles a Scammer List set up by many trading sites.  The people who make it onto the Wall of Shame are those who do not follow the rules and try to take advantage of the generosity of others.  Many of these people don't even need the loot but take and use it to trade for even better loot.
The Admins who determine that someone is not in need of loot are known as The Banhammers.  I wasn't familiar with this term so I looked it up on the Urban Dictionary
Banhammer
Fictional weapon wielded by administrators on a computer game server. Used as slang referring to someone being restricted from joining servers.
"Lol, you just showed him!"
"Yea, nice job wielding your banhammer!"
I spoke with  Richard Latham and could tell he was very passionate about {P.I.F.} and it what it represents.
"We are a group of fairly accomplished MW players who have paid their dues and want to help newer players through the early levels of the game. We do not allow trades on our site, but simply give people the loot and consumables they need to progress.  We think we are a great compliment to the trading world. We have some accomplished traders on the admin team .  Overall we are trying to put a little fun into an already fun game."/Richard Latham, {P.I.F.} Admin

After the admin accepted my friend requests, I was eager to participate and offer some of my extra loot to players who could use it to increase their overall attack and defense scores.  I was a little nervous because I remembered what it was like the first time I attempted to trade.  Even though I read all the rules, I somehow managed to break most of them and got booted from a few trading sites.  The Admin were all very helpful and made me feel welcomed.  I enjoyed the experience and made some new friends.  Two of those friends are Manpreet Singh Kohli and Fred.  It made me feel good to know I was helping them to be stronger and they were both very nice.  I asked them to tell me something about their experiences with {P.I.F.}.
An amazing thing happened on the {P.I.F.} Wall today.  John Darkblade has a 7 year old son who is in dire need of a Kidney.  In a true display of selflessness, Stephen Brown offered his own.  This takes the {P.I.F.} philosophy way past Mafia Wars and loot.  Words can't describe the significance of what this act means to a young child and his family.  It proves that the bonds we have with each other are real and explains why we continue to play a game that causes us stress, confusion, and work.  The social aspect is what really keeps really us addicted.  To read this heartfelt and inspiring post, click HERE.  I wish the best for John and Stephen and hope they know that their story demonstrates the good in people and will inspire many to Pay It Forward.
"I am at a total loss for words.  When we began {P.I.F.} we simply wanted people to see the good in others without thinking what they may receive or how they may benefit.  I have come to realize John and Stephen that this site does go beyond MW.  I see a bond between so many people on here. We are a family and a community in ever sense of the word.", Char Wilson, {P.I.F.} Admin

  1. Thank you for an extensive review of {P.I.F}. I can notice the time you invested in collecting the content. My deepest gratitude for being a part of {P.I.F} and getting word out on us. The heroic and inspiring gesture of Stephen has put me at loss of words.

I remain truly touched by events yesterday.

    Regards,
    Sai,
    {P.I.F} Admin.

  4. My first two hours at PIF were record breaking, said Char Wilson (admin) -- I was comment blocked, lol, which was the fastest anyone had been up until then. I also received a couple friend add blocks, but that was only due to the fact that someone had put my email on a mass add list, add that with MY mass add to the mugger community- and adding people is dangerous!

ANYWAY- I've met a lot of great people through PIF, and a lot of people who i've become good friends with, and will continue to be just that, regardless of Mafia Wars, which is cool. My stats have gone from 80k each to almost 110k each (which is hard once you reach 100k, 'cause there is nothing left to get but the FHEL/FHEL2, and now; VHEL) -- I had a lot of help from PIF, but also it got me back into playing a LOT more regularly than I was, so that increased my stats as well, and now I have lots of loot to give away regularly-- though I am somewhat picky about who I give it to. There ARE scammers everywhere, but PIF has great eyes and the people are caught quickly and banned in-turn.

and as Fran said, we are a family =) -- not a clan so much as a plain, pure loving family willing to help each other and anyone!

P.S. - I'd love to have you in my Mafia/friends Jennifer; I understand your full- as am I (nearing so), but if you make room anytime, remember me ;)

Keep up the great work =)

    -Nick

  5. I was on my way out of Mafia Wars when I received an invite to join {P.I.F.}. After following the instructions and reading the Wall posts I immediately noticed this was not the "normal" Mafia Wars group. To echo the sentiments of the admins quoted in the article and the prior posts this is family. The only other experience I've found on Facebook was surrounding a now defunct application that focused on helping abused/neglected animals. To me there is something unique about people who genuinely want to help others not just get something for themselves. I can happily say that as long as {P.I.F.} is around I will continue to play Mafia Wars because they have made the game fun again. I was happy to tag {P.I.F.} lil momma lj {P.I.F.} and encourage others to join as well.
Thanks for writing this article and sharing the philosophy with your readers.

  6. I have been playing FB mafia wars for about three or four months. When I first started P.I.F. I was at level 160 with a attack and defense of about 50,000 each since I have joined the group I am now at level 500 with attack and defense of over 100,000, now I have made it to where I can gift to someone else , and I do everything I can to help. P.I.F is a really good family to join! ( also my mafia has grown over 2000 since joining

  7. great group great family ..everyone is so helpful that it took me only a while to get to it..and to end it in short i'll only say {P.I.F} RULES..!!!

  8. I have been a member of {P.I.F}
    for quite sometime(since it's conception).

And it has become a family for me(yes maybe as with any family at times a little disfunctional with slight disagreements...lol) but a family none the less.

And I can honestly say that the gesture with that family involved is truly an amazing act of this concept and I pray hard for that family that it works out. A first on {P.I.F} to take it outside the realm of the game and into the real world!

And anybody who would scoff or ridicule {P.I.F}, in my opinion needs a head checkup.

And I am truly honored to be a part of this group of people. Sometimes it takes an act like this to make me even realize that my problems pale in comparison to others.

It is also my hope that this place becomes more involved in real life examples of the true meaning of the concept of "Paying it forward"

And I hope this piece inspires people to do the same... I hope that this becomes so viral that we can elect Sai President of the United Sates(lol) regardless of where he is from...lol

    Seriously though you guy rock {P.I.F}

  9. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have {P.I.F.} in my life. Not only is our admin team simply full of amazing people, but I am honored to have the members a part of my family.

When we began {P.I.F.} we simply wanted people to see the good in others without thinking what they may receive or how they may benefit.

As we progress I am both moved and astounded by everyone's generosity. The donors for our site keep coming in. Without their support and generosity, we would not be where we are at today.
I consider us an alley to the trading world, and their support and kindness has been overwhelming for me. They are my angels in disguise.

We truly hope we are making a difference in people's lives and changing their thought patterns.
I do know that each and ever person on {P.I.F.} has changed my life for the better and in such a short period of time. I never expected 9 weeks ago for the kind of love and family I have received and it continues to grow everyday.
Hugz to all of you <3

  10. I had been an admin in a couple of different groups in MW that called themselves family. The difference I have found is that in PIF, the groups is as addicting (if not more so) as the game itself. I find that the friends I have made in PIF continually find a way to put a smile on my face. From the moment I joined PIF, I knew it was different from any other group. Now PIF is being emulated by others. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

  15. Thanks for the article you wrote, seems you really took the time to make it, It looks awesome!
I will share my experience at {P.I.F.}. The first time I thought they were a fighting clan, When I discovered that they were not immediately began to give away the loot they no longer needed.
As a trader I know I can get a lot of things with the loot I have been giving away.. but you will never feel the same way after you help new or weaker players without asking anything in return. Thanks again MW LootLady.

  19. {P.I.F.} is indeed a world class page no doubt..Am fortunate to be a part of them. It truly shows that nothing is impossible and possibilities is part and partial of life and lastly but not the least "Miracles Do Happen".

  20. My better half and I were on a different gift site when we discovered {P.I.F.} and I can honestly say that the Admin and the other gifters are the BEST...BAR NONE! P.I.F. may not have been first but they are a WAY better site than the one we were on previously. PIFfer's (as we refer to ourselves as) are in my humble opinion the GREATEST, most LOYAL people that one could ever hope to meet. The rest needs to take a GOOD look at us and see how it SHOULD be done.

  21. I was originally turned onto Mafia Wars by my older sister. She explained the game to me and I quickly was hooked. She told me about a face book site that helps you with these kinds of things. i joined it. I quickly learned that some pages have trouble with quality, mainly pointing fingers and constant drama. So needless to say I consoled some of my closer mafia friends and was turned onto {PIF}. At first I was kind of skeptical, mainly because of the horrible reception, and problems of the other sites I was on.

Quickly {PIF} made me feel comfortable. It was like I was invited into their homes and treated as though I was royalty.
That has lasted for as long as I have been there. The generosity is amazing! It really changes the way I look at life as well. What can I give to someone else?

Although the idea's of caring, and giving are apart of mankind naturally, I have never found any group of people more willing to share their kindness, and generosity any where else in my life.

I have found that not only do I have great numbers in Mafia Wars, but I also have become great friends with many of the regulars. I feel like {PIF} is very much apart of my family. That is one, of many things, that {PIF} is great for.

  24. I remember when I found PIF. I was a little 'nobody' playing in a big world. I had 60+ mafia members, and half of that was due to people sharing other mafia members. One person took me under their wing and explained to me how the whole thing works and how PIF works. They boosted my stats up immediately and also made me theor 'pet project'. In a little over a month on PIF it went from 60+ members to over the magic 501 number and my stats went from 16k to 0ver 60k. Not only did they pass along thier weapons, vehicles and armor, they give away the big stuff (diamonds and lotto). Within my first 2-4 weeks I was able to vault both of those.

There are times I see things where someone has something personal going on and they use MW and PIF as an escape. The only difference is that the family at PIF truly care about them. We may not know each other personally, but we get to know each other by interacting on the wall and some even use personal information as 'quizzes' for their giveways.

So Thanks PIF for everything you have done for me and everyone else.

  25. I have been involved in several different gifting sites. While PIF was certainly constructed along the lines of another site, they didn't copy the concept... they perfected it. The administrators of PIF are VERY involved in their site...there is a constant influx of new people...any problems that arise are handled quickly and as discreetly as possible...and newcomers are made to feel welcome. I can attest that those attributes were certainly NOT copied from the "original."

And PIF isn't just a web gifting site. As dysfunctional as it may be, we ARE a family. I have learned alot about many of the people involved. Our conversations go way beyond Mafia Wars. I know when someone's kid breaks an arm, when they lose a pet, lose a job, get a new job, get married, etc. The people in this group go beyond a "name passing out ubis." PIF is family.

  26. I joined {P.I.F.} at Level 150 My stats were low along with my mafia numbers. I am now at Level 226 and have close to 100K stats. I can NOW gift items such as Lamangs and Naks. I have made SO many truly amazing people there, that I spend more time there, than I do actually playing Mafia Wars. I LOVE them ALL! It is my home away from home!!! :)

  27. These Guys and Gals at {PIF} are completely awesome..Helpful all the time with anything they can..Assistance to use all items like Chucker and Brawler etc..Just an amazing group of people all round..The Admins were great to me when i came in and did not hesitate to help..I started looking for my lowest needed items as you should and maxed my items very quickly..I PIF what i can whenever i can and they are just like a 2nd Family..{PIF} Rocks and the Admins are just Top Notch...Keeping scammers off the wall also which is a god send for people who gift a lot..An addiction to gifting is now in my blood thanks to {PIF}...Lootlady this is the most wonderful posting i have seen and i'd like to say Congrats to you for putting us on your wall..Thankyou

  28. I am honored to be apart of PiF, The friendliest and most kind people one could ever meet, they helped me tremendously with my stats, i was 50k and now way over 100k in a few months, Yes i did want to give a kidney not only because i was a piffer, and would have gone through with it too :), Pay it forward is in real life and on this site many people can also learn from others the art of giving without receiving, as we say it is better to give than receive, Giving is a honor and we are blessed by getting a good mw family. Plenty of the people offer their precious time to help others. Guys i don't care what anyone says you are the best on facebook, and daily we change peoples lives, its a honor

  29. You know what kills me. You use that John Darkblade story to trump up your site, and then what did you do Richard Latham... you treated him like a piece of garbage and wrote a bunch of bs post on him making him out to be someone there to take loot and give nothing back. All PIF is is a loot grab for the administrators to build their alternate accounts. They give out scraps but keep the higher loot for themselves. It's disgusting.
