Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator

Share:

Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator is a great tool created by Scott Saunders that evaluates all of your equipment and tells you what to do with it.  It will also compare you to all the other players who have used it before you.  According to Scott, there are about 500,000 points in the database.  Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator was launched in May of 2009 and has over 8,000 visitors a day.  Scott also manages a site called Blofeld's Dirty Martini Tools which was acquired when the creator no longer had time to keep up with the updates.  We all know Zynga likes to add new loot items and this seems like a overwhelming task.  Scott said that a lot of it is automated but some manual updates are required.
Blofeld's Loot List – (www.blofelds.com)
Works as either a bookmarklet or copy/paste from the Mafia Wars game. This page is highly graphical and aimed more at the Mafia Wars loot collector.
Blofeld's Item Analyzer – (www.blofeldsdirtymartini.com)
This is a landing page for Blofeld's Dirty Martini Tools.  The Item Analyzer is one of the bookmarklets on the page and once installed works directly with Mafia Wars. Players can add items to the database by using Blofeld's Item Updater.  This tool is formatted like a spreadsheet and is aimed more at the Mafia Wars fighter.

I was curious to know who Blofeld was and found out that Scott named the tool after Ernst Stavro Blofeld who is the archenemy of James Bond.  He may have been killed but his ghost is busy analyzing all of our Mafia Wars equipment.
"Unlike many of the mafia wars tools the Blofeld tools do more than provide static information. They both analyze the players equipment, makes recommendations, and compares the player through the use of percentiles with other Mafia Wars players. This interactivity puts Blofeld's in a separate category distinguishing it from information only sites."/Scott Saunders, Blofeld's Creator

If you have been playing the game for a while, you have a lot of unique loot items.  Here are all the items I currently own and this isn't even counting the special loot (consumables, building material, etc) and loot purchased in the city inventory stores.  The truth of the matter is I only care about the items that my mafia use during fights.  Finding those items in this mess of unorganized loot would take a long time.  Blofeld does all the work for me.

To start using this tool today, follow the instructions below.  If you are new to using bookmarklets or encounter problems, read my articles titled Bookmarklet Installation: The A, B, C, and D's
and Screen Shrinkage & Missing Scroll Bars With Bookmarklet Programs.

1.  Go to The Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator Website and install the  Blofeld's Loot List 2 bookmarklet.

2.  Go to your Mafia Wars Profile Page, unframe it, and click on Blofeld's Loot List 2 (which should now be in your bookmark toolbar) to activate the analyzer.
One of 4 things will happen when you click on this bookmarklet.

1.  If you didn't unframe the game, click OK and Blofeld will do it for you.  Once your game is unframed, you will need to go back to your Mafia Wars profile page and click on the bookmarklet again.
2.  If you are not on the proper page, Blofeld will let you know.  Move to the right page and click on the bookmarklet again.
3.  If your computer settings are adjusted to high and are blocking pop-ups.  Adjust your settings to allow pop-ups from the Blofeld's website and try again.
4.  The program will work and your results will appear.
The results provide a lot of customized information about your loot and your character strength.  After running the analyzer, I learned how my personal attack and defense scores measured up to others (the percentiles cap at 99% and are based on the other players who have used the analyzer), what equipment is currently being used in fights and what I could get rid of through gifting to my mafia members or selling within the game.  If you want to ensure that you keep at least one of each available loot item, click on the "I'm a collector" button prior to running the bookmarklet.

Here are my results:
Personal Stats
Equipment Attack Scores
Equipment Defense Scores
Giftable Equipment (weapons)
Saleable Equipment (weapons)
Upon reviewing my results, I saw that I could sell 34 of my Xiamen Tigers and get B$9,350,000 for doing so.  By looking at my animal attack inventory, I see that I could use more Banded Kraits.  These are only available in the Bangkok Faction Store and cost B$540,000 each.
I sold 34 Xiamen Tigers and was able to use the Baht to purchase 17 Banded Kraits.  You can see that the analyzer was accurate.  I received B$9,350,000 and my overall Equipment Attack Score did not change.  Here are my before and after shots.
Another nice feature of Blofeld's Loot List and Combat Calculator is you can sort all of the Mafia Wars Equipment by different criteria.  It's much easier to come here to figure something out than it is to go through your own inventory which is listed only in the order you received it.
On the bottom of the loot list there 17 tabs to choose from.  By combining these with the sorting criteria, you can list the loot many different ways.
In this example, I selected the "Weapons" Tab and the "sort by attack-best to worst" criteria.  Every weapon that is and has ever been available in the game is listed.  The number of the items I have in my inventory are listed in the white box.
Since I haven't bothered to write about The Jungle Crates, I did a search for some of the Jungle Crate items in this example.  If you want to know everything there is to know about The Jungle Crates, visit the Mafia Wars Wiki Jungle Crate Page.
I selected the "Weapons" tab and "where do I find it" criteria.  I scrolled down the alphabetical list to Jungle Crates and you can see the weapons that are available from this crate.  I don't own any so there is no number listed in the white box.  There are so many possibilities you can use to search for these items.  I'm only showing one option in this example.
1.  Go to the Blofeld's Dirty Martini Tools Website and install "Blofeld's Item Analyzer.  It's nice to also install "Blofeld's Item Updater" so you can contribute to the database if you find a new loot item.  If you haven't already installed Blofeld's Loot List 2, you can install Blofeld's Loot List from this page and you will be directed to the Blofeld's site discussed above.
2.  Go to your Mafia Wars game, unframe it and ensure you are on your Profile Page.

3.  From your bookmark toolbar, click on "Blofeld's Item Analyzer" once and you will get the same results you got from using Blofeld's Loot List 2 but they will be in a different format.
You can scroll the report right from your Mafia Wars page, open it up in a new tab, or make a spread sheet by clicking on the "Export to CSV" button.  This is a good option if you want to send your results to one of your mafia members so they can review them for you.
The Item Updater is a tool that lets you help keep the database current.  If you have an item that is not yet in the database, you can submit it to be added.  You will know because there will be a big red box asking if you would like to update the item list.  To do this, go to your Mafia War profile page, click on the Item Updater in your bookmark toolbar, and then re-run the Blofeld's Item Analyzer.
If you are have questions or need additional information, click on the FAQ button located on the analyzer. Or go to the Blofeld's Loot Analyzer Fan Page.  I would like to thank Scott Saunders for taking the time to answer my questions.  I wouldn't have been able to write this article without his help.

  1. I use this analyzer. It is not graphical like Blofelds but has a lot more info. You can copy and paste from your profile page or use the bookmarklet provided.

  2. Since the sale of Blofeld's there are no more updates so since then Zynga has added over 20 new items and none are showing up....I hop the new owners will get around to updating it soon....

(wonder if Zynga bought it to kill it?)

Just a note THANK YOU SCOTT for keeping blofeld's the greatest tool out there for so long! Best wishes to you my friend!
