Bagman Mugger: Spockholm Mafia Tools

Zynga has once again updated the Mystery Bags and now we need to collect 7 items to complete a new collection.  All the details on that can be found in my article titled New Mystery Bag Collection.  I found a bookmarklet program called Bagman Mugger by Spockholm Mafia Tools to help me collect and get more Mystery Bags.  In the past I have avoided this bookmarklet because it looked too complicated for me to use.  I always saw elaborate codes on peoples Facebook profiles and assumed that you had to be really smart to use this program.

Pistol Pete made this program as easy as apple pie and I'm very happy to say I now use Bagman Mugger.  It has just been updated and works like a charm.

Bagman Mugger is a tool that uses Mystery Bag links from your mafia members and searches for and collects them for you.  You won't find these Mystery Bags on your External Gifting Page because they weren't sent directly to you.  This is a team effort bookmarklet and you and your mafia members need to add and update your own Mystery Bag link to a designated spot on your Facebook profile once a day.  Using this tool will provide you with extra Mystery Bags that are in addition to the ones found in the External Gifting page sent to you by your mafia family members.

Zynga has also improved the manner in which we accept Mystery Bags by eliminating the need to accept them and wait for the countdown on your Mafia Wars home page.

I still don't like going in and out of windows and use JGrabAllGifts by Josh Miller of Miller Marklets to accept all my external gifts.  If your not familiar with it, read the first article I ever wrote on the Mafia Wars Wiki titled Using Bookmarklets.

To start using Bagman Mugger today, follow the steps below.  If you are new to using bookmarklet programs, review my articles on Bookmarklet Installation and Common Problems.

1.  Go to the Spockholm Mafia Tools External Page and locate Bagman Mugger.

2.  Click, Drag and Drop Bagman Mugger into your bookmak toolbar.

3.  Go to you Mafia Wars game and from your bookmark toolbar click on Bagman Mugger once to unframe it.  All Facebook framing around your game should be gone.

4.  Click on Bagman Mugger again to activate the program.  Your screen will look like the image below.  The program works on any page.

5.  Be patient and wait for the list to load.  If you get a message "unable to retrieve list  Please try again", go to the "Limit Friends" section, edit the number to lower the number of friends it checks and then click on the yellow "Then Click Here".  Keep trying until you get a number that will work.  The number will vary.  Sometimes it loads for me with 4,900 and sometimes I need to reduce it as low as 2,000.

6.  Once you see your friends links loaded into the box, click start and let Bagman Mugger do it's thing.

7.  When you return, you will see all the items you received.  Here is what I got from the run that I did today.

8.  Review  your logs.  From here you can see who isn't and who is updating their Mystery Bag links. 

9.  Ensure that you participate and your mafia members are using this program as well.  This is an interactive program.  You will not get good results unless your mafia members are using and updating their links too.  You can accept an unlimited amount of mystery bags but only one from each person per 24 hours.  Of my 4,900 mafia members that Bagman Mugger checked, only 53 had Mystery Bag links posted to their profile.  Of those, only 4 were not older than 24 hours.  To Add your Mystery Bag link and be a part of Bagman Mugger, you need to do the following steps once a day.

1.  Get your daily Mystery Bag link by RIGHT clicking on the yellow "Right click here and copy link location" line.

2.  A prompt box will open up and click on "Copy Link Location".

3. Now click on yellow "Favorite Quotes" line.  This will direct you to your Facebook profile editing page which is where you will need to be for the next step. 

4.  On your Facebook profile editing page, scroll down to where it says "Favorite Quotes" and paste the link into the box.  You can use whatever copy and paste method you normally would.  The link location was already copied in step one.

Once the link is copied into the Favorite Quotations box, click on Save Changes.

Here is what your profile will look like when you are done.  If you don't have a similar looking link then this is not the right one.

I combined steps 1-4 into this image for an easy reference.

5.  Repeat every 24 hours.  Bagman Muggar will keep track of the time for you.  Just look under "Your new MB Link" to find "Your current link timestamp".
