Zynga reduced the maximum bonus for the Top Mafia Positions of the Mastermind and the Wheelman from 11% to 10%. This comes at about the same time they were doing something good with the exp/energy ratios in BK. If you noticed that all of your exp/energy ratios have decreased, this is why. I couldn't find an official reason for this but there is a Zynga Forum Board Thread started by tackleberry23 that I'm watching and waiting for a moderator to comment. As usual, they didn't announce this change and tried to sneak it in on us.
If you follow the Zynga Forum Boards, you will often see the term nerfed. According to Urban Dictionary, this term comes from the online gaming world of Ultima Online. At one point in the game, the developers reduced the power of swords in melee combat. This resulted in players complaining that it was like they were hitting each other with nerf bats, not swords. From then on, if ever something gets made less worth while than it had been originally, it is considered "nerfed". If you run the bookmarklet program Exp/Energy2.0 by Joyka (click HERE for instructions), you will see all the new ratios for all of the jobs. This small change may not seem like a big deal to you but it really will have an effect over time. Rarnold5004 from the Zynga Forum Boards made the following post regarding this issue. economy of an energy player
I do not know if zynga realizes what they are doing by nerfing energy accounts like this. I am an energy account, i really get my kicks out of being able to level up and i think it is pretty cool i am level 3000+, i do not need many people in my mafia. sure i get beat on often and robbed but really i do not care that much. what does happen is i get alot of weapon depot and chop shop things.
I have a number of people in my mafia who will pay to do the chop shop and weapon depot advance to make the rail gun or plasma rifle and what they need is the parts i have generated to be able to do that. i will send out 10 railgun barrels and parts to them and they make 10 guns sending me back 5. i will give my 5 guns to people in groups i belong to to make them stronger players.
as an energy player i am able to help people advance their shops faster so they will pay for the stuff they want. without me the energy player the people who are willing to pay to make the cool stuff faster can not since they do not have the parts and many fighters who i supply cool stuff to are no longer able to be the top fighters they were because their source of items has dried up.
this is just a quick example of what zynga will ruin. if i stop enjoying myself by leveling and being able to be generous then i will stop playing. to me it is not fun to level once a day, i like being able to plow through. i nearly stopped the day zynga changed the top mafia and i lost the bonuses from that debacle, i am glad zynga felt different about it and switched it back. the energy player is the backbone to this game. the fighters will often use the generosity of us energy player to become a better fighter and in doing will force other fighters who do not have an energy player's help to buy stronger weapons with credit cards. I myself have an arrangement with about 20 people who will spend money to build the railguns and paying real money to zynga so they can build them fast. i generate a lot of the loot i can give to different clan distribution accounts. I supply a good number of clans, it is a lot of fun to think that i am helping so many people. now if i dry up and am no longer doing my thing some of these clans will not be able to supply their members and many of them will become frustrated and leave the game.
that 1% change might seem small and 2.02 vs 2.11 seems like nothing but when you are dealing with 20,000 energy it becomes a huge difference with how tight the levels are i am just able to level, that is why i depend on the settle a beef job. if i can not level i do not have fun so i'll stop playing. the chain will stop without me there.
Zynga is setting itself up for another drop of 1 million players and i do not think they know why. i hope someone will see this and realize that even though there are some people who abuse the game by 'selling' boosts or other virtual things and zynga does not get a cut there are people out there like me who make it worth zynga's while to let us have fun with our energy accounts and be able to multi-gift. mafia wars is not a single player game people need people in it.
I would love to see people quote this post and hopefully it will be quoted enough zynga will see it and be kind to the energy players. i am not asking for much just to keep the ratios what they have been.
