No Thank You!

I don't think so. Whatever game I choose to play next will not be managed by Zynga! Like YoVille, maybe somebody will buy Mafia Wars.

    1. Totally agree... loved the game, as just mindless clicking/scripting. a stress release. But I am looking forward to a facebook feed that will now be clear of spamming and begging

    1. If you learned anything about this game, you would have learned boycotting only invites zinga to give a negative impact to the game. Though how much more negative can you get with 0 health.

  6. Jennifer, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all of those that helped you with your blog and Facebook page. Without you and Spockholm, I would probably have quit a long time ago. And yes, as much as MW was a pain in the ass, I will miss it.

  7. They are still posting for the VIP Membership Trial. Odd really when in reality investing in a Zynga game with the confidence with them will be at a all time low. Many many VIP accounts will be closing today that being said new CEO just made a bad business decision. Maybe a fat cat will buy up the rights for Mafia Wars. So do not give up play the game you love and prepare your family to stay in contact and find a new game outside of the facebook platform.

  13. It would be great if another company could take over the game. Perhaps the original developers of the game? You know... the company that zynga stole the game from in the first place? I know Mob Wars is still running but surely they could manage the 2 games separately. It would mean more players for them. Isn't that what happened in the yoville case? Zynga 'borrowed' the idea from that company and then when zynga didn't want yoville any more, the players begged the original company to take the game back and keep running it. I might not remember all the specifics, but the story was something like that. I'm not sure how much work would be involved, but I'm sure if a deal could be made, the original owners would run it much much better than zynga ever did.

  14. Thank you Jennifer for keeping us informed through the years. This game had it's run and provided a great platform for users of laptops and desktops. I will avoid playing on mobile devices, I won't use my phone as a tool. That said, your blog has kept us up to date and made Mafia Wars more enjoyable to play. I will miss the interaction and wish you well!

  16. I will say this: WE ARE VICTIMS OF FRAUD!!! how many players banked game cards on the anticipation of 50% sales on RPS? They collected the VIP subscriptions from all VIP members without giving anyone a warning that they were planning to close the game.

I emailed Zynga Monday, to ask what was going on with VIP and go a response, the usual blanket statement. I wrote back with a thank you, and suggested on what would be a good idea for planning a Double Build and giving us a 50% sale.

The response to that was that Sales and DB are random, to keep checking the game, and a thank you for me taking the time to share my observations with the game.

Was I told anything about the game being closed? NO !! They committed fraud, and need to be taken down and made to refund all of us!!!!!!

    1. Who says they were planning to close the game? It looks like the new CEO made the call, which would mean they weren't planning to close it up until then.

On the other hand, we have known all along that they were going to shut this game down sooner or later. They shut down every other game. Why should this one be different. Why would anyone assume the game would go on forever?

    2. There are two kinds of people in the world: the clever and the stupid ... Zynga was clever and you, well you was a fool....jajajajaja

  17. I have already asked Zynga if I could purchase their games, I am a small indie developer and asked to purchase, Vampire Wars, The Ville, Ruby Blast, Street Racer (one of my fav's) and War of the Fallen.

Now, I was offering FULL price for these games and didn't want them all.. just wanted a solid game that had an established community already.

My best offer (for any of these titles was $50k) now, I know that they could probably sell for a lot more, older titles, not so much.

I got turned down, Zynga sent an email back saying "thank you for your interest in purchasing one (or more) of our retired titles, sorry, they are not for sale"

Do you people really think that anyone will buy up Mafia Wars ?... or even be allowed to do so.

    1. Exactly. Selling the game has too many potential negative consequences, for very little monetary gain. So why would they? Zynga is looking out for Zynga, and nobody else.

It's time to return to REAL life, buddy... Rune is JUST a person like you, me and everybody else... trust me, he is NOT a God you need to idolize anymore. MW is over... done for... and I am sure your hero, Rune ALSO has to return to real life... unless you keep your group going where you spend all day complaining about Zynga worshipping each other... OR... you could return to the world of the living

  20. Mafia Wars (Zynga) should be investigated. Did they really ever donate money to the charities they said they would donate to? In selling certain special loot they promised to donate to things like earthquake relief, hunger etc. Wonder if they ever really did, and if so, how much? Always wondered if it was real or a scam.

  21. I still play but look forward to it's closure, I wasted too much time but no money when I could have been reading books or being more productive with my time. Don't lament, we can do better things with our time. Ed

  22. After playing over 4 years and still playing, It's time to get back to doing things that are more productive and stop wasting are time, reading a good book, doing the chores you were ignoring and getting back to the real world. Don't get addicyed to these games, It is destructive. Ed

  25. Thank you so much for your dedication in helping fellow players with the game. I really appreciated your efforts.

  26. Quit the game 4 years ago and at that time, the game was already just a script autorun.... I can only immagine it was even worse 4 years later... the closure of MW is just a warning that people should never spend money on virtual pixels.... Just a waste of money..

  28. Jennifer, Thank you so much for being there when I maf'ed out. You are a class lady, and you introduced (by way of your blog) me to Worlds of Tanks. Thanks again, John, or as you know me as webloafer. I don't do much loafing on the web, I go straight to a stand alone game like WoT's and have fun without, chat, facebook or hacks. Love you muchly, John.

  29. Played Mafia for years, stopped about a year ago due to it just becoming a choire trying to do anything. No way in HELL I would play another game run by Z. waste of time. Thanks for the website here though, especially since once only VIP members could get support, this was about the only way to get any ideas of things. Cheers

  30. We all knew this was coming when the employee at zinga gave a 2 year life expectancy for mafia wars. Thanks to mwll, the scripted writers and the gamers for making the game more that what it was.
