Strike Against Fight Carnage

Share:

Many of the vocal players in Mafia Wars do not like the Fight Carnage 'event'. So much so that a group of them are going to have a strike tomorrow. If you want to join them the link is below. Boycotts in the past have not worked and only made things worse. I remember a boycott against Limited Time Properties and look how that turned out! Maybe calling it a strike will have a more desired affect. Fight Carnage was advertised as a 'Limited Time' event so I'm sure it will end at some point. It could just be a big experiment to see what limiting server calls (and therefore heavy script use) does for the game. Maybe Zynga can use the data to figure out why Fight Carnage solved a lot of loading issues and go from there. We should all be grateful that they aren't doing anything to stop script use. I'm sure most of us remember a time when we were all paranoid about using scripts of any kind as players got warnings and even suspensions. We don't have many players to lose so I would like to see the ones who hate this feature happy. All I care about is game performance and that is why I cancelled my VIP subscription and stopped spending money on the game. Now we have a situation where others did the same thing but for different reasons. Perhaps if the strike shows up in the metrics Zynga may work harder on improving Fight Carnage or just end it. The least they could do is tell us when it will end so those who fear it will be here forever can relax. When it comes to Zynga, boycotts are risky business. No matter how small they are, Zynga often does the opposite.

    1. Oddly, I find icing harder since Carnage started.
It seems that inbetween attacks many opponents have time to heal.

  2. If the goal is to reduce the strain on their servers, perhaps they could place a limit on the number of levels gained per day or the number of non-arena ices per day. Both seem as if they would reduce the strain on the servers by hindering the auto-levelers. 25 levels and 2000 non-arena ices per day?

    1. What a stupid idea. The level cap as it stands is 300,001. It would take 12,001 days to reach it with a 25 level per day limit. Then you need to consider it's fighting that impacts the servers the most. Most people with the insanely high levels are energy accounts. They are of no concern.

    2. It would never happen. Zynga would lose out on stamina and energy refill purchases.

    3. Yep. Putting limits on any part of the game would have just as traumatic effect as this carnage has. Remember when they tried to put a limit on how many jobs you could do in a day? Remember the meltdowns? That brilliant zynga idea lasted less than the couple of hours it took for them to get rid of it in the game.

  3. heavy server load? i don't think so.. how can online shooters and MMORPG's handle the heavy user traffic? and speaking of servers.. zynga is using content delivery networks (CDN) to bring the game to the user, those are hosting multiple stuff if i remember correctly, those servers are not from zynga but an infra-structure u can rent from companies like akamai.. almost like anybody else.. so complainig of heavy server use is a cheap excuse, especially when the user base is obviously shrinking compared to.. i dunno.. 2 or 3 years ago.. think about it

  4. Here's a tip Zynga, if you want to stop the script abuse then oh I don't know maybe make your events actually do-able? Like this extortion, you really want someone to manually go to their computers EVERY 3 HOURS, to click an ask button, you do realize we have a life right? No wonder the script abuse is off the charts, back then it was playable manually unlike these days.

  5. looks like they just changed it to 5 per attack in NYC (390 power attack), same in the other cities., Maybe the 1-5 increase in NYC is enough alone to help the servers. Then again, maybe it's a sack of shit in disguise ;)

  6. Zynga will do what Zynga wants to do regardless of the boycott. Their record of listening to the players concerns already speaks volumes when you see the amount of players left after this games hey day. It's only a matter of time .....where they will finally drive the nail in the coffin for Mafia Wars as well.
When your players try to tell you how to effetively improve the game, voice their concerns on the features that are hindering the enjoyment of the game and the company still doesn't listen...just watch the DAU numbers tell the story.

  7. why would zynga listen to people's concerns when there are stupid people paying for RPs and items just to go finish the events? And the price they setting is more expensive than some 3D online game, this simple game do not deserve such high prices and they make no effort to reuse the previous event codes to rerun the events over and over. The only thing they make some efforts are the simple 2D graphics items and property only. They are more than happy to make people pay so they can continue to program the game tougher, but fortunately for me, I know the way to avoid all the real spending and at same time do all events and this fight carnage is never a concern at all. Why the big fuss over fight carnage?

    1. I unfortunately was one of those stupid people who used to pay rps to try and finish an event if I was close to completing it before the timer ran out, but then I built my energy and stamina--with quite a few rps--thinking it would give me an advantage in completing these events faster and without wasting rps trying to buy my way through an event, but then zynga changed energy, so the amount of clicks I get with my heaps of energy is the same amount of clicks someone who has only 2500 energy gets, so I am no further ahead. And now they have done the same thing with stamina as they did to energy--based it on a percent of your pool--so I am assuming I get the same number of clicks on stamina now (I have just over 120K), as someone with a stamina pool of 10K, so again I have wasted my time and money building more stamina to have a better advantage and a better gaming experience. Zynga used to be one of my main sources of entertainment, which is why I gave them money to keep me happy. I figured I got more enjoyment from spending a few dollars on MW than I got going out to a movie, or to a night club, so why not? I always assumed they would never mess with something like fighting, since it is their bread and butter, but there it is.

  8. As I respect everyone right to have there day and voice. I plan to use these days to *catch up to those bigger then me. At first it bothered me, remember heath change? Everyone went mad. But in the end all stayed the same. Let those who wish to do this have at it. Actually with a few changes I was forced to make, it was working out better for me. Enjoy your day off protesters, those that leave , its on them

    1. Oh, do you mean the health changes they have in place now due to carnage? With the timer that allows everyone with massive health (including me) to heal and heal and heal and never give up an ice? Yes, it's wonderful if you're on the receiving end of an attack, because before someone can get you down 20% of your health, you'll heal again (at least I do). This event has been great for health, bad for getting ices on bigger players and the absolute worst for those who have little health, because one click and they're dead.

At least with the former fighting, you had a chance to ice someone, because you had the stamina (at least I did) to keep attacking and wear down their timer. Now it is hopeless.

  9. Cant get any ices now because of this. just blew through 50K stamina in Chicago and didn't get 1 ice..AND I need 240 of them to complete urban assault...looks like that wont happen now thanks to "Fight Carnage"...thanks Zynga for f'in me once again!

  10. yup the big health accounts can heal faster than I can attack. I guess we can all gang up on the little guys for our ices. the attempt to level the playing field has made the game even more boring.
    *yawn*
