Zynga Announces First Quarter 2015 Financial Results

Share:

In a conference call with investors, Zynga released the financial results for the 1st quarter of 2015. Use the links below for more details. ‘Other Online Games’ is the category Mafia Wars falls into and that is clearly lower than the last quarter. With so many games shutting down, it will be interesting to see the quarter 2 results as Mafia Wars will be one of the few other games remaining.

    2. According to that article Zynga says it is laying off 364 people and as a result expect to save $100 million per year. That works out to $275,000 per person! Something wrong with that picture.....

    3. Oh, I see the broke it down to $45 million saved by the 364 layoffs. That's still $124,000 per person, though. Sure seems rich...

  2. So, proof to all the morons that Farmville DOES bring in more than mafia wars!!!! LMFAO. You clowns been thinking Mafia Wars was their biggest money maker. You all who thought that were FOOLS!!!!! (Note: Games representing LESS than 10% of online gaming revenue in any period are included in "Other Online Games) <--- Mafia Wars LMFAO ,,, The end is near folks, real near!!! Don't be buying accounts to waste your money on, as they will be useless soon enough!!!! Only a matter of time until they pull the plug on this game.. And honestly they have been working overtime on driving players out of it recently. People are no longer spending money on it and are only sticking around for friendships they made . And alot of friends are playing other games together already. You know games not made by Zynga , and actually play and run awesome!!!! :D

    2. I'm curious about something. When zynga finally does close MW, what are YOU going to do with all your free time? Have you already found another bridge to live under?

    3. Mob Wars, and if you install blue stacks app player "it is free" You can play clash of clans and any other app on Google Play.. So many other options out there now that run smoothly!!!!! I am one of those MW players that has been in the game since the old MySpace days moving onto other games with my friends now, a lot of old MW players are playing Clash of Clans now through blue stacks and mobile.. And the plus side to it is you can play on blue stacks on home pc and also play it mobile anywhere you go!!! :)

  3. I'd love to know what is the average spend per Farmville player vs the average MW player. I bet until fairly recently MW players generated more revenue per head. The recent game issues & FB purge have driven away some of the remaining spenders.

I admit I'm a MW addict but definitely NOT a Zynga fan. I have zero respect for the way Zynga treats its customers. In its heyday MW had 17M players (& I would guess that most of those WERE real players, not minis). It WAS their biggest money maker because there was a sufficiently high proportion of players who each spent a significant amount of money. Over the last year or so even with a greatly reduced player base there were still enough spenders to justify keeping a small number of staff working on the game. Unfortunately Zynga's cost-saving methods will result in even less customer support & deteriorating game performance. This feeds the downward spiral & as more people give up the battle it will be easier for Zynga to justify shutting it down completely.

Any game has a finite life and tbh I think MW has far outlived the expectations of its developers.

I will never play another Zynga game either.

    1. Even in it's heyday I doubt MW ever came close to the profit margins that Farmville has given Zynga. I've been reading business articles about Zynga for years and I've never seen MW mentioned once when they are talking bottom line profit numbers. They always mentioned Farmville and considering it still brings enough revenue to be specifically mentioned unlike MW I doubt it ever came close to the success that Farmville enjoyed. I do agree with you that the game has FAR outlived what anybody thought it would do when it was launched. But all of us see the writing on the wall. Zynga is moving towards mobile only and all of the facebook based games will be closed down in the near future.

  4. Why do people pay for this???? There are lots of other things to spend your money on than online time killers.

  5. So Z is back on the upswing, still losing money but a comeback is on the rise. Doubt that MW will be gone anytime soon, I'm sure MW brings in more cash than Farmville does. Plus, MW falls into there future plans. After all there new CEO (former but back) was there when MW began.

    1. Mafia Wars hasn't brought in more than FarmVille in years. Games that bring in more than 10% of Zyngas revenue get their own block on the graph. Mafia Wars is less than 10% so it gets grouped in with 'Other Online Games'. It's been this way for a very long time.

  6. I wonder who is making all that other online game money. Just look at the games two years ago and see which ones are still running :

then look at farmville in Q1'14 and do the math.
