South Africa Shutdown News

Share:

Every time a destination shuts down, we get a news paper announcing the big event. South Africa will be no exception. I've been accused of starting a bad rumor as many don’t want to believe that South Africa is going to close [1]. The server image below should be a little more proof. This is a bad decision for the game but there isn't much we can do about it.

I'm really sick of playing a game that hates its players.

  2. Better shut down LA.
The biggest BS i ever saw in MW.
I need a button to hide this crap cuz if i open it i just get angry.
Yes sure, the whole game moved to be a game just for players who use redhitters.
Players who not even see more all that bullshit cuz there scripts do it on auto.
Nevermind. Time to say good bye.
Was the best game in the last 6 years, but got perverted.

  3. I guess the most easiest is to shoot the messenger for bringing the news.....it has been that way since the human discovered he/she could walk on 2 legs as well...instead of 4...
Look at the bright side, it also means your blog is read by a lot of people, and some forget you are just observing and posting.

I read your blogs with great pleasure, do not always agree with you, but hey we have the right to disagree, without getting personal or nasty.

    Keep up the good work!!!

  4. Whats the fuzz about?
There will be nrg builds in LA and most likely stam build too.
We that dont buy crates will also get more valuable loot from it and it aint that tough on the nrg cost for those of us that has little of it,
its worse for those with tons but those are probably serial lvl'ers anyhow

  6. I hate fighting and don't use bots so I am really, really disappointed in this. I was going to stop at Level 10,000 but kept playing. I'm reconsidering. Thank you for the information and sorry people blast you. In all the years I've read your posts, I haven't seen you lead anyone astray. May I just say, stupid Zynga for killing this game.

  8. Yet they don't seem to be in any rush to add LA gifts. But I guess that would mean they actually listen to the players of the game.

  12. Why shut down a newer location surely it should be Brazil to keep the game fresher

  13. of course they chose the District with the highest ratios and not useless Chicago. We will be endlessly collecting Beer Barrels for Missions. I was hoping one day we would see the end of it.

    1. Of course not Chicago, we need to keep collecting those valuable barrels.

  16. Cuba "colorful and Fun" GONE!
    Bangkok "colorful and Fun" GONE!
    Italy "colorful and Fun" GONE!
Las Vegas "colorful and Fun" GONE!
Chicago, drab dreary ugly useless except 1 property U can finish with help request alone. Still here ??

S.Africa Interesting but stupid. No gifting property parts, crew last 8 hours but property upgrades 18 hours. Ask for help 24 hours. Jobs use expendables and take money too. Now after all our efforts it will be shut down. And I bet we get ZIP 0, nada tidak ada, ไม่มีอะไร, niks,कुछ नहीं,không, нищо, ei mitään, ບໍ່ມີຫຍັງ, walang anuman. (Translations) NOTHING

  17. I don't know why anyone faults the LOOT LADY for posting what Zynga is doing. DON"T SHOOT THE MESSENGER! You do good LOOT LADY keep it up.

  18. Zynga know that closing game destinations pisses people off. Yet they've been doing it since 2011 with Cuba being the first to go. It doesn't make any difference to them I'm sure they just wanna be done with this game once and for all the way there going with it.

  19. I've never quite understood the closing of cities. Can it really cost Zynga any significant cash to keep a city open? And how do they choose what cities to close?

    1. > I've never quite understood the closing of cities.
Me too, developers that remove major game features (e.g. cities/destinations etc) to piss of f their players are either idiots or seriously trying to close the game down

      > Can it really cost Zynga any significant cash to keep a city open?
Probably NO (unless they have really inefficient code/server infrastructure), a properly coded city should not cost any extra penny to keep open (as long as there aren't dedicated servers needed just to handle one specific city feature unavailable in any other cities - SA absolutely doesn't have any such features so any cash-related reason for closing makes no sense at all)

      > And how do they choose what cities to close?
Analyze game use of players to determine which city is most useful for players, then close that city down

  20. I'm a computer programmer. Were I managing a game like this I can think of two reasons I might want to shut down cities:
    - removing code means less code to maintain
    - removing cities means making the database smaller, which would improve performance, reduce the size of backups, etc.

    1. While I agree in principal as to what you say is how things should work please allow me to observe that your observations imply competent systems management which - based on my nearly 7 years playing MW - Zynga has clearly demonstrated they lack. The game is loaded with fragmented and inconsistent coding, etc.; they have lousy systems management (clearly evident by never ending loading issues for players of all levels and other examples); and, (speaking as someone who owns and operates multiple sites) they have idiots making their site management decisions. If Zynga were my external systems manager or internal IT staff I would fire their sorry butts. Just sayin'

    2. As a programmer, what I find mind boggling is the ever increasing lag problem. The game is far less responsive that it was when there were millions of players. There's just no excuse for that other than incredibly bad programming or possibly vastly reduced resources.
