South Africa Shutdown Event Coming Soon

Share:

It looks like South Africa will be shutting down. The Map has already been removed and there is a server image for the locked-out destination page.  Earlier today the Tribute Collection was added to the game [1]. I found it odd that the collection event was in South Africa because the previous 2 have been in Mexico. The collection is named Tribute and it’s as if we were saying good-bye to something. The 9 special event items added to the inventory have the feel to South Africa and reminded me of some previous shutdown events (ie, Crisis in Cuba, Massacre in Bangkok, etc..). I tried the server image link for the shutdown screen for South Africa and an image popped up. If you haven't gotten all the South Africa achievements, now would be a good time to start working on them. There will probably be 2X or 5X mastery for South Africa before the destination is shutdown. The loot items for whatever event we will have prior to the shutdown are shown below.

  1. Zynga is getting rid of a destination for no reason. Many players aren't even finished with South Africa. Some just finished upgrading the properties. So Zynga is making MW only for those who spend money on the VIP program and those constantly buying from them. OK, Capitalism I get it. But removing South Africa is just wrong. It was fun. But hey, who cares. Zynga is going to kill of MW like they do their other games. Zynga is not worth spending time on anymore.

    1. They removed Cuba, Russia, Vegas and Italy without consulting players, so no one should be surprised at this point. Something as important as the removal as a city should be put to the players for a vote. Just my opinion, but the most expendable city right now, is Chicago. The only boost there is health, and many players have long since stopped playing battles, where that health boost was important. Instead, they arbitrarily chose SA where there is a little extra energy and stamina upon collection of properties. SA is a better choice than removing Brasil, but still, many have come to rely upon these boosts to give them a little push to the next level. I guess zynga's argument will be that it will replace the boosts that were available in SA with ones in LA (let's at least hope they will), but how long will it take the majority of players to actually get the damn boost bearing properties fully upgraded??

    2. I agree, Chicago can go IMO. The LA properties will take forever for casual players, many whom rely on SA for something. But hey, this is Zynga. They are after the money spenders and don't care about the regular casual players.

As for LA, it will take me a very long time to get through the properties. Right now I am still on the first bronze level, just farming the parts I need. No rush to go through the destination.

    3. You didn't need to spend money to finish the SA properties. All you needed to do was collect SA property parts from the daily takes instead of taking the loot and skill points. Same as Mexico. Yes, I posted for parts everyday but I also kept collecting the property parts from the daily takes so I could have all the properties fully upgraded faster without spending any rps to do it. On another note, yes, it sucks big time that they're getting rid of SA and not just for the energy and stamina boosts from the properties but for the fact that so many people don't have all of the achievements, including myself. One thing, grow a set and quit whining about people who choose to spend money on the game, it's not your money they're spending. Also, without paying players, there would be no game.

  2. Its not VIP.
VIP get fooked like each other who play oldschool without a bunch of kamis.
Thats why i dropped VIP. The Game is just for 24/7 autoplayers where nobody sit in front of the monitor and keyboard. Players who really play the game cant do Events anymore cuz they dont level hundreds of times a day and have to look his Exp Ratio. So the game get perverted until the last real player leaved and just the bots fight each other. RIP MW

  5. I use SA for spending energy because in lvl 10, si tteh best ratio, no consumables, and of course use energy and stamina boost. If the plan to replace SA by LA, it can lat very long to full upgrade. i still upgrading Mexico, and will last some time to full.

  6. Clearly nobody is wasting their time on Mexico/LA, when SA is a much more useful city. This is just a ploy by the idiots (so many better words, but not trying to get censored) at Zynga to force us out of SA.

  7. If they add new cities or places then I do not care if one of the old ones go. But why SA? Why not Chicago, London or Brazil . I know NY has to stay.,. Anyway pick one we have all finished.

    1. Brazil has the best energy and stamina pulls out of the lot, so I imagine there would be even greater anger if they closed that city. Chicago makes the most sense to close, but zynga doesn't do what makes sense or is best for players.

  8. Zynga you destroy the game and soon you will lose too many mafia wars members. nobody will want to play mafia wars when all your decision is against to the players who spend too many years to creative strong accounts.

  9. It's way to soon. It only came out like 2 years ago. Brazil came out lets see when oh right yeah 2011.

This is nothing more than killing off serial leveling that people are able to do there. They saw how fast the game was defeated when the level cap was raised from 154,274 to 300,001 and know they can't keep upping it due to all the RP it gives out. SA with multi jobbing and stamina jobs was the only place that allows that kind of leveling so they killed it off now.

London has them kind of ratios but with it being used at 1.8K energy a click and bandits you'll never get close. So because they screwed up and turned a single destination into the greatest leveling tool ever it gets a much shorter than it was supposed to life span in the game while others are around for years after people stop having a need for them.

    1. Ah right, why not campaign for the closure of Brasil when it has the best energy and stamina boosts. Do you actually play this game? Chicago is the city they should be closing because it has the least valuable boost.

  10. When S.A. goes i would love to see the metrics.
I think its zinga's exit plan for mafia wars.
Hack the game until the metrics is low enough to close it down.

    1. Zynga knows announcing the closure of MW at this time would provoke mass outrage, as there are still a fair number of paying customers who remain loyal to the game. But the steady stream of people giving up playing is becoming more of a flood now. The game is slowly bleeding to death & its anyone's guess just how much longer it can carry on. 6 months?
Closing SA is like cutting the heart out of the game. Not because it stops serial levellers (with a bit of planning Mexico is just as good) but because LA is just not fun. Lets be honest, there's not much in the game that IS fun. Put this against the constant battles with poor server response times, endless bugs & glitches, and the feed problems due to the API changes and its not surprising to see many more people leaving.

    2. I have been thinking (and saying) for a long time now that it appears as if zynga is trying to purposely aggravate players--paying and free playing alike--so they will quit, and they can then justify a shut down of the game without having to worry about people who have spent a lot of money on the game taking action against them. Face it: they go through the motions of asking for feedback on gameplay and then ignore it, they overwhelm everyone with overlapping events, despite about 80% of players screaming for them to slow down, and they make brutal game changes (like closing popular destinations) without any sort of fair notice or player consultation. They seem to be trying their level best to make players as miserable and disinterested as possible, and it's working.

  11. I'd close London - I'd miss my Jack the Ripper but its not a deal-breaker for me.

I'd be happy to see the back of Chicago as long as they give us rob squads in the next property in LA. I can't see them doing a thorough job of revising the coding to cope without them.

  12. Great, there goes my serial leveling... why are they shutting down South Africa and not London which is useless

    1. I agree: London is a good option to delete, if they´ve got to get rid of one.

  13. If they really shut down South Africa, I bet that the entire game will follow its footsteps within a year - Great work Zynga for destroying the game one destination at a time, since the closure of Cuba
