VIP Platinum Benefits Review

It’s month 31 of the VIP Membership Program and those who have been subscribed since the day 1 (and spent $774.07) will received the Platinum benefits today. If you signed up at a later time you will get them as soon as you pay your bill for the 31st time. A little over a month ago Zynga announced what these benefits were going to be and if you like to spend money than you will be happy [1]. For those who feel spending $24.97 is enough than these benefits are no good as the majority of them require more purchases. A breakdown of the Platinum benefits are outlined in this post. Bronze|Silver|Gold|Ruby|Titanium|Emerald

The VIP tab in the Marketplace will show all your current benefits and at this points it’s getting pretty long. One would think with this many benefits that the program would be well worth the cost but only Zynga can get away with calling something you need to spend more money on is a benefit.

The addition of +300 attack/defense skills and + 6000 attack/defense equipment points is good but it’s only a rental. If you cancel your subscription you will lose both sets of scores. They make that point clear with the skill points but not so much with the equipment points.

Combined with the points from the other benefit tiers the total addition to equipment scores is +22,500 attack/defense and +1,200 attack/defense skills. This information can be found in the Marketplace tab shown above.

On the fight page the equipment score bonuses from the VIP Membership Program are combined with the bonuses from the Family Properties and Family Perks and the total increase possible is +34,500/+34,500. The profile page also shows the additional skill point bonus.

Of course every new benefit tier since the Ruby Level comes with a Harbinger and now there are 4 of them in game. The Harbinger Annihilation currently has stats of 652/652 and they will increase by +1 every week until the game shuts down.

Purchasing additional Harbingers is considered a benefit by Zynga. You are able to utilize this benefit 4 times for each category of Harbinger and those who do will spend an additional $1,704 for 16 pieces of loot. You can purchase items from the home page banner or the bottom of the VIP tab in the Marketplace.

Every time you successfully pay your bill for a new month you will get an additional 75 reward points instead of the 50 that you got from the Emerald benefits. This is shown on the popup for reaching Platinum benefits and every time after that it will be it’s own popup. This is in addition to the 50 reward points you receive every week from the Bronze tier of benefits bringing the total number of reward points per month to 275. When there are 50% discounts on reward point you can get 215 for the same cost as a month of VIP so if you normally spend money on reward points you might as well stay subscribed because you actually get a better deal on reward points. Just consider all these extra benefits fluff and you still come out ahead. 

Each week you can purchase a package of 75 skill points in either attack, defense, energy or stamina (which ever one Zynga chooses) for 75 reward points and it's called the Platinum Edge. It's called the Emerald Edge for players on the Emerald tier and is 50 skill points for 50 reward points.

There is a discrepancy because Zynga claims that you get to retain all of the Emerald benefits. They say this benefit is ‘UPGRADED’ but for those who want to purchase 50 skill points instead of 75 it’s not really an upgrade and they can’t really say that you still have all the Emerald benefits. They should give players a choice.

The Platinum Punch is the ability to purchase a 10% increase in your either your attack skills, defense skills, mafia attack score or mafia defense score. The increase only lasts for 4 hours.

It can be activated on the Home page, the VIP page in the Marketplace or the Fight page.

At this time I’m not sure if it can be used in conjunction with the Fighter’s Frenzy Boost or the Fighter’s Pack boosts. If anyone knows please comment.

The ability to earn 10% extra cash applies to all destinations. Since currency payouts depend on class and mastery bonuses the amount will not be the same for all players. The VIP Platinum star icon appears on every job that pays currency in all destinations. The increase will not apply to special events. 

I’m not sure how the ‘Ability to claim an additional Mastery loot during every Marketplace Promotion’ is going to work. Whatever this benefit is will most likely require additional purchases in the Marketplace. Perhaps they will add an Emerald Level loot items that will require more tick marks. I doubt they would just give everyone a free mastery item. The current structure for Marketplace Promotions is shown below and we will need to wait for the next promotion to learn the details of this benefit. UPDATE: To see how this benefit works, go here. 

The last benefit is pretty insignificant since it only applies to 5 Arenas per day. You need to read the fine print on this one because it only applies to Arenas that you win.In Shootout Arenas you need to come in 1st place and in Mob Fury Arenas your team need to win. The Arenas that count will display the VIP star icon next to the experience payout.
