Remove Inactive Players from Your Friends List

Share:

I’ve made this post several times in the past but updated scripts warrant a redo. The last time I did this was about 1 year and 8 months ago and back then 260,000 daily active players seemed dismal [1]. Today we are at 143,142 and the number of inactive players I had as Facebook Friends reflects this difference [1]. I discovered that of the 4,977 friends I had over 2,000 of them haven’t played Mafia Wars in 21 days. Through the years I’ve done a good of making sure my mafia was active so this was (but shouldn’t have been) a surprise. My optimism for the game is fading and that’s kind of sad. If you want to remove your inactive Facebook Friends, follow the steps below.
metrics
Step 1: Install the Spockholm Mafia Toolbar if you haven’t already done so.

Step 2: Launch the Mafia Manager and get your 1st snapshot if you don’t already have one. It’s best to run this tool in FireFox because Chrome doesn’t have enough storage capacity. If you find don’t have enough space, use the Storage-o-Matic to remove stuff you don’t need (ie, old snapshots from other scripts and junk).

Step 3: Determine the time frame in which you consider your mafia members inactive. I waited 21 days.

Step 4:  Launch and run the Mafia Manager again to get your second snapshot.
Once your 2 runs are complete, click on the top “Compare with latest” link. You are comparing the 1st snapshot to the 2nd.
mafiamanager3
Step 5:  Click on the “all” sorting link until you get to the inactive section. A list of all players with no activity in your specified time range (the time between runs) will appear. In 21 days, 2,114 of my mafia members had no change in their experience gained. To me this seems pretty inactive and I will have no issues with removing them from my friends list.

Step 6:  Scroll to the bottom of the page and copy the list of Facebook ID numbers. Team Spockholm makes it easy as all you need to do is click on the “Copy Beta” botton. If you don’t want to use the Copy Beta button, copy how you normally do.

Step 7: Install the Facebook Manager if you haven’t already done so. This is an old fashioned drag and drop script and is found on the Spockholm Mafia Tools External page.
fbmanager

Step 8: Make sure you are on a Facebook page and launch the Facebook Manager and click on the ‘Remove FB Friends’ tab.
fbm1

Step 9: Paste the list you got from the Mafia Manager into the box.
fbm2

Step 10: Click ‘Begin Removing’ and wait for it to do it’s thing.
fbm3
If you have non-mafia wars playing friends on your Facebook account there is an option to avoid removing them. Click on the ‘Avoid Removing friends on specific lists’ box. One time Pistol Pete inadvertently removed his wife so I’m sure that option works well. fbm5
Step 11: When the run is complete, look at the number of your Facebook friends and be happy you didn’t have to do this manually! Not all friends may be removed because of deactivated accounts or whatever issues Facebook has but you can run it again or try the Remove Disabled Friends tab (it wouldn’t load for me).
fbm6
fbm4
If you want to remove the friends you removed from your mafia, the in game option to do this doesn’t work very well but there is an option for this in the Mafia Manager. Go to your second snapshot and click on ‘In mafia not-friends’, wait for the list to load then click on ‘Remove’ (above the list). It will take some time but rumor has it the game loads faster without so many mafia members.

  1. I don't want to necessarily remove inactive players for many reasons. What I want to remove is inactive Facebook accounts for every reason.

    1. You should be able to remove them from the second tab. It didn't work for me in Chrome but I didn't try other browsers. This script is still fairly new so perhaps Spockholm will identify what is causing it to not load. Could be I had too many friends.

    1. Three weeks is plenty of time. I was going to do it at 7 days but forgot about it. I only want active players in my mafia but it's a personal choice so what is good for some may not be for others.

    1. lol, scripts have saved the game. It would be long gone by now if it weren't for them. I know that, you've got to know that and obviously Zynga knows that or they would have stopped them.

    2. Scripts may have "saved" the game... but what is left is just not worth saving... and that's why people are quitting and the numbers are dropping... so in words the scripts DID kill the game... although it's being kept artificially alive... but what fun is there in an artificial life? The game is dead and you should know that too... what is the point with the game now? Everyone is cheating and playing in auto... and most aren't even online when playing.... hehe... the game is dead... killed by scripts... but Zynag is allowing them to milk money from a hardened group of players... and as soon as those players leave the game... scripts or no scripts... this game will be shut down... but maybe if the game wasn't ruined by scripts, new players would start playing and a lot less players would be quitting... thus earning Zynga just as much as it does now... only the game would be fun and competitive again... which is kinda the whole idea... but script users see scripts as a savior... when in fact they are the trigger for the game's death,... and yes... one day all script users will see that... or not... some just don't wanna see it ;)

    3. I certainly don't disagree with the fact that Zynga is milking money from a group of players. They stopped caring about small money a long time ago. We all saw that when they started pushing the high dollar 'packs' like crazy. Scripts have allowed it to get to that point and yes it's only a matter of time before the game dies. Had scripts not kept it alive that group of big spenders wouldn't have been able to use all their energy and stamina and would have stopped playing a long time ago. When they stop the game is gone. The writing for that has been on the wall for a while now.

    4. But what about the players quitting? There has to be a reason for that... and why aren't new players joining? Because the huge players run the show,... and "control" Zynga... what if the disappearance of scripts would pave way for new players... and tge returning of old players who quit... and maybe that would bring in more VIP members... but sadly it is as you say... they small group pay SO much that Zynga no longer cares about their VIPs... what they earn on VIPs is probably just a drop in the ocean in comparrison - but it would be nice to be able to go back and play the game as we used to... get the fun back... and where spending countless hours and being consumed with the game was all we knew... when the person ebhind the account actually mattered... you can't deny that was a lot more fun back then,... now it's all about getting the next million ices within 24 hrs... or getting 1,000,000 stamina to run Arena 24-7-365... just not the same... but yes... Zynga doesn't care... you're right about that... but maybe their greed came from that small group only playing due to scripts... we will never know what direction the game would have taken had Zynag stood by their ToS and axctually killed the scripts in due time... but Í think the game would have still been here today... only on another level...

    5. back in 2009 when I was introduced to this game by friend invite, I spend 30 minutes clicking gift, spend 1 hour to burn my 1000 stamina, war finish in 3 hours and busy calling out friends on the chat box to help it out, asking help with only 2 click on the post (my mafia is already 700+), The unstop revolver while game is loading, wake up in the middle of the of the night to get the toolbar bonus... and I asking myself what I've done to my live? then I quit the game 1 year later and get my live back. In 2012 I "accidentally" see something about Mafia Wars script on google when I was searching something. hey its the game I love two years ago, with curiosity I click the link and see something interesting, since then I go back to the game and feel much better. the script make me back to the game, save me from crazy clicking and save me from changing my mouse twice a year. People quitting this game is just because they get bored, not because the script. new player not joining because this game is already get old, there is so many old strong player you can't compete unless you spend crazy amount of money to buy the time they spend to get equal. if you are a new player in this time around you are to late for this game. Time or money is the essential aspect on this game to get strong, some people use kami account to cut the time and get strong freely, but still it's can't be get equal with the normal free player on the same level because they miss something we get such as loot and skill points we can get free in normal playing daily. It wasn't the script who kill this game, it's zynga who failed to make it last.

    6. Another script user who doesn't get it... so sad... but one day you willl... but by then it will be too late... the game is being kept artificially aleive by scripts and a very very few high spenidng players... we're living on the grace of a few others, instead of having a player base who are willing to acrual play the game... if you don't wanna spend the time playing... then quit... honest fair playing accounts quit when they see the amount of cheating in the game... and thereøs NO way tey will stay and spend money to keep i talive... I am sure a lot would have stayed on playing and spening money IF they game had an ounce og fairness left... but scripts took care of that... at this point it's : QUIT OR ABUSE SCRIPTS... and that is sad... you can't play the game anymore without using them... and that is NOT good... but script abusers can't see that... because they are already hooked on using them... only the players who are still playing the game without using them can see it... but sadly that amounts to about 1% or even less... and as 60-75% of the daily active users are mini-accounts you can imagine how many are actually playing this game fairly... the ones who could have helped quit... and yes, they quit because the game got boring... but the game ONLY got boring because of scripts... but you can't see that... scripts made the game too easy to play and took out ALL the fun and social aspects that a lot of people liked... now, Mw is filled with players who aren't even here... but just turn on the scripts and leave to do something else...and where is the fun in that I ask? Why play a game if you're not going to get involved? but like I said... script users fail to see this point... and the's the problem...and that's why the game has become boring...and that's why people quit... so, yes,,, scripts killed the game no matter how you slice and dice it... and Zynga is to blame... they should have stood by their ToS... but they chose money over honesty... so... once again money rules the world...

    7. You make valid points but Zynga not putting caps on health/stamina has doomed the game. There is no way possible to burn through those if you are a high level player. It's a vicious cycle but in my opinion but not much you can do about it in the end. I think Zynga never thought the game would go on for as long as it has simply moved on to other games. It planned on shutting it down once the big spenders eventually left but to their surprise alot have stuck around.

    8. I actually think MW will last a lot longer than most people think. The game still has a few hardcore players who have spent tens of thousands of dollars and they are staying around to the bitter end. Of course the game that all of us here know and love is dead. No way is it going back to the old days when the social aspect was the main attraction. Now everyone is on auto and social interaction is a distant memory. I quit the game a few years back but still have a few friends who play the game. One had a high level account and was ready to quit and asked if I would be interested in buying it. Besides being against Zynga's TOS I wouldn't have paid fifty bucks for it. Back in the day I probably would have taken a loan out to buy it...lol

    10. I think is funny that you believe that scripts are the downfall of the game. As if you could compete if there wasn't scripts. But a casual player or more importantly anyone who didn't drop tons of money is outclassed no matter how long they have played. Zynga unbalanced the game from the beginning so scripts or no scripts the illusion you have in your head of some perfect game where you can stay competitive by playing a couple hours a day when you feel like it never existed. The only thing scripts did was give some of the non-paying players a chance against the playing players. At least until the scripts became mainstream and even paying players starting using them. Now it is just a chess game where the people who understand the game mechanics outpace the ones that don't. So yes if you are a casual player that doesn't understand scripts and or game mechanic and cannot or will not spend money you are going to get pounded. Zynga didn't care about you from day one, so no point blaming others because you failed to either give up and move on or adapt and make it playable.

    11. Guess you really don't like scripts Anonymous lol.
I've played off and on since 2009 and for the first year I had the same view point as you. I opposed all scripts but then one day I started using chucker which was a lifesaver! I can't tell you just how many hours of my life I got back not having to look for each item I wanted to send to my friends and the total amount was so low!!! I then went down the rabbit hole and used many more scripts. It sure helped my game. Especially for those dreaded Las Vegas Slots :)
It also helped me help my friends with their game (I didn't help with wars though) I wasted so many hours actually copying and pasting comments where I helped them. Thanks to scripts I was able to have an actual life and talk with friends at the same time.
I don't know what friends you have/had and why they don't/didn't interact with you as I don't have that problem and never did. Maybe your views and the way you talk about them in a forceful and condescending way made them all run for the hills. Or maybe they were all script users. Anyway who really cares at the end of the day. Is the script actually hurting someone????? No..... maybe you should use your time worrying about things that matter and not about scripts. Just saying

  5. As a differently-abled player who underwent chemo some time ago, I was put on doctor ordered hiatus from certain gaming (Mafia Wars included). It's taking more time than expected to get my immune system up and running. Most of my long-term Mafia buddies know this and for that reason haven't deleted me as friends (especially the cross-gamers) but every now & then I'll discover myself off a persons' friend list in error from the auto-removers. All it takes at that point is a short message with a heads-up to get back in that person's friend list, but not necessarily Mafia. When/If I do resume active play I'll notify those still in the game but I expect that many have moved on despite the fact that we're still friends. Social Gaming has a way of creating real friends over a period of time and I would not delete these friends simply because we *ARE*.

  7. The problem with this system is that it only account for Mafia Wars, which means if your friend is there to play another game with you but at some point tried and didn't like or gave up on MW that you will remove them at the detriment of their interaction with you on another game. This only works for those who ONLY play MW on their account and nothing else.

  8. if we are at 143k DAU, and each player has at least 2 minis, this translates out to less than 50k actual players, scary fact. I am sure no one is quitting at this point so if there is a future for this game, I feel we have bottomed out, and can only go up or down and out.

  9. I use scripts for some things but do lots & lots manualy. For instance, I go through my ZMC and remove what items I already have too, too many of in stock or for special events I am not doing and so on. Most, not all of the rest I do w/script.
I have a difficult time as it is with just me and playing number one fan & cheerleader for my son & our Miami friends who play. As for Anonymous who hates scripts with a passion. So what if the game is almost over. In the meantime, we play on as we wish. Scripts or no scripts. I play because when I first started, the game resembled to a "T" my most favorite Korean mafia drama; Shadow of the Sun. Once the connection to the sequences of the storyline lost it's sentido, the game went into "Helter Skelter" mod & remains so today. Today, I sometime see glimmers of that original storyline but rarely. I have often wondered if one of some of the original MW programers were possibly of Asiatic backrounds or into Korean drama.

  10. only 1 script killed MW ... it was the cloning scipt! This killed the trading market, which was half the fun of the game, and the reason why half of the players left ... swapping 50 carbon blades for a lotto piece gave you a buzz! Once over a lotto set would sell for $30-$50 which says just how popular the game was. After the cloning happened zynga stopped making giftable HEL and killed the game.

    1. the reason for the killing of it is this, for you so called people who think they know about this game......i remembered back in2007 when i first spotted Mafia Wars, but it was on a different media than FaceCrack......then it switched to FaceCrack in 2008.........i got booted from zynga in 2007 for using too many curse words, seriously, and today and the last 4 yrs.....ive seen the F word all the time........like the postcards called FuckTards......oh that was real nice and the countless other F words players use and yet their still playingi................here's the reason zynga dont allow the giftables.........cuz for 3 straight years they lost there ass in Revenues......because some very smart players started what was called "Trading CLubs", trading what, not just trading but selling those INTELLECTUAL properties for their own financial gain\,,,once zynga got hip to this........they shut it all down.......that is why zynga sticks it too us every chance they get.......cuz, they lost 100,000 of dollars.........i had a complete lotto set........i traded it for loot items that took me from a wimp one day to a azzkicker the next.......but \before i knew,,,there were better LOOOT available, and now I didnt have anything to trAde with,,,,so then i went back too a step above wimp status.............now if i wanted the items i needed to compete with the other very powerful players........i could spend some cash and purchase them..........which i never did.......because i would be comitting a FELONY.........and everyone who bought LOOT items with thier cash comitted FELONies.........your dam lucky zynga didnt take you to court.......instead they chalked it up as a loss and moved on..........YES........they allow the scripts in the game.......why.......cuz pretty soon.....all that will be left in the game are the MOST powerful versses the NOT powerful enough...........then its bye bye MW's......I will miss you

  11. Well, I used to click manually and I was nearly about to quit the game due to all the time involved, then someone introduced me to spockholm...and still playing today. I spend some time in front of the computer, but love the flexibility that scripts offer. I can run them, go watch a show, mow the lawn, whatever and come back and play for a bit, then go off and do something while it runs again. If scripts go I go, don' have the hours to click and sit.

By the way, I reached out to some few inactive players on my list and got a few of them back into the game. If just 50% of us daily players get just one former player back into the game think about how much the daily number would jump. Many of those that stopped got bored, and don't know scripts or about all then new features Zynga has added.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would bet that at least half of those DAU's are minis which mean the game has less than 50,000 actual players. And that might be optimistic at this point. The script abusers and bullies helped fuel the decline but the majority of the blame goes to Zynga. They simply didn't care enough about the game and it's players to keep the game current and listen to the daily player's feedback. Great game 3 years ago...

  13. If these big money players were smart they would get together and form some kind of union/alliance and demand some major changes to the game from Zynga. Considering they are a small group and keep the game afloat you would think they would have some influence. Maybe wishful thinking on my part..lol

    1. very wishful thinking.........most of the very powerful players of today,,,,got that way thru Trading Clubs, Pimping Clubs........allows you too add up too 5000 players in your acct., if zynga checked everybody, like they tried 2 yeARS ago....asking youevery time......is this a friend of your outside of facebook........well if im sitting at 500 and need 501........you think im gonna sAY NO........lol......i think not...........how many of us actually have 500 true friends on facebook verses 5000......LOL.........this use to be a great game.......now its all about those who use scripts verses those who dont.........and the early pioneers, who workded the game without the freaking azz scripts........but as soon as zynga clamped everything down.........then scripts sprung up everywhere..........the most powerful wanted to stsy Powerful..so what 2 do......seeing how facebook and zynga operate entirely on developer scripts, using PHP, a programming script.....and along with Javascripts.........all of the sudden you started getting players who had programming experience, who started creating these scripts.........battlefield being the most widely used today, with the recent addition of Mafia Demon............and the others---Spockholm........with spockholm........you better know your stuff, cuz if you dont, you can screw you computer up pernmanently, which alot of players have done here over the years........had to go out and buy another computer, cuz theres was toast.........yeah...without a doubt.....scripts have killed the game.........oh it may have kept it alive for a little while,,,,,,,but the honest players are tired of the cheaters.........and thats why the numbers of players have been droppping steadily for the last 2 yrS.........of course,,,thanks to you cheaters.............eoL

Its just as bad as the people Writing Like This, With A Big Letter On Every Word, how on earth is it possible, I guess im not "special" enough to be able to do it.

Anyway, I like how you try to say that spockholm fuck peoples computers, but I am waiting for an example of what doomsday device is, how does it destroy your PC?
And well, with spockholm, all you need to know is how to set it up or ask someone how to, but then again, if you do anything wrong it doesnt make your computer blow up or stop working, lol.
And I do wonder how spockholm can toast my computer, its more risk involved overclocking your CPU, even though its fairly risk free in modern times, then installing spockholm on your PC.
You do seem extremely butthurt for some reason.

But then again, bad troll is bad troll and im clearly feeding the troll here, bye troll.
