Tomorrow Zynga’s new Terms Of Service go into effect [1]. For years many players (including me) get the popup shown below every single day. Section 1.9 doesn’t exist in the new Terms Of Service so I wonder if they will update or remove this popup. Obviously it doesn’t threaten anybody nor has it changed how we play. Zynga continues to pass out loot items, reward points and skill points to those who abuse scripts the best so why should this warning deter anyone? The new Terms Of Service contain a lot of legal mumble jumble ensuring that players can’t sue Zynga and they make it very clear that if a game is shutdown there are no refunds. They moved most of the content of Section 1.9 to the Community Rules and it states in the TOS that we must follow them. If they ever plan to enforce the rules then they need to add their own automation or say good bye to their VIP Subscribers and what’s left of the player base. (Click Images to Enlarge)
Hope they will start enforcing this... although I am fully aware that they won't... lack of courage, stregth and common sense... BUT if they did... and killed all scripts... I'm sure more people that you give credit to would still be playing... abut you know Zynga is reading thos blog and you have to "intimidate" them to keep this going... and it's working so far... but if scripts were removed, the game events would slow down drastically as well... as I am certain that the crazy flow of endless events has something to do with script usage... and those who love the game and play because they actually enjoy the game still... and not just the ones worrying about their next million ices... would still be here afterwards. Weed out the lazy ones and have those who enjoy the game stay... but like I said... this will only happen in Never Neverland... and unfortunately we don't live there, hehe.
ReplyDeleteI remember a time before scripts... and it was actually much more fun and A LOT more social than it is now... would be nice to return to that... and it would be nice for the smaller accounts/families to actually have a chance to do well in events too... this might even encourage the smaller players to keep playing... and make it easier for new players to join... I wouldn't wanna be a new player in this game... whatever player base this game has now... that's it... except for the millions and millions of mini-accounts (but they don't really count as new players) But yes... the hard core group of die hard script abusers would probably quit - some might stay... but this could be a new era and open up new ways for a new generation of fair playing and people who actually LIKE the game as it is... and not always on the look out for a script/spocklet/or whatever they are all called... bring back the game we all started playing for... IF we lived in a fantasy world... and if Zynga had the courage to actually stand by their own ToS :)
My 2 cents... (and to the trolls - feel free to comment : Stop whining or quit playing... it's not about whining... it's about common sense and bringing back the game we all knew before this)
lmao your the one whining though , and if they do kill the uses of scripts mafia wars will die overnight !!! and doubt you will be playing manual with just a couple more of your whining type of players because there wont be no other players left for you and your groupy to play against !!! and maybe not a bad thing though kill the game we could finally get our real lives back lol

DeleteI think they give a rats ass to the TOS...they are just covering their arses so they are not sued when they shut down the game...and to add that now...seems sooner than later. ;)
ReplyDeleteToo late..scripts are so needed to play. You would have too use them to get through the health and all the stuff they make you do. There is no saving MW and zynga did it to themselves. All the auto took out the fun social part and nothing is better then sitting on someone just to see them freak out..now they wouldn't notice since they are on auto. Sigh..can't annoy a unfeeling robot...so all the true fun is gone..miss the public meltdowns.

ReplyDeleteNo ones says everyone HAS to compete in ALL events... that's kinda what the whole point is... right? In real life... if you're a proffessional athlete... you don't compete in ALL events because you would simply kill yourself by doing that... unless of course you use drugs... or like here... scripts... which again kinda takes away a lot of the fun and glory in achieving something... I would rather finish last in the Tour de France and know I had a clean race, than fininihing in top 10 and knowing I cheated... but I guess people are different... and thank God for that ;) haha... All I know is, the game was WAY more fun back in the days... and the scripts DID kill the game... and if activity levels dropped due to NOT using scripts anymore... Zynga would pick up on that and I am sure they would cut back on the events being released... but right now, they know 99% of all players abuse them... so, in return, they flood the game with an endless flow of events... which we all hate... starting to get the picture?
ReplyDeleteAnd it would be fun to be able to compete in family ice events... i'm sure a lot are a bit tired of seing the same 4 families win all the time... I am positive if there were no scripts... 4 other families would on top... and then there would actually be something to fight for again... and to compete for... what's the fun in the game right now?? There is no fun... because the competitive part of the game and the human factor have been eliminated due to scripts... and yes... only a few would probably get 1000 ices in an ice season... or 1300 pennants in a Slaughter Season... but those numbers would have SO much more meaning than 100,000 ices in an ice season... or 50,000 pennants... what's the point in that? There is NO fun anymore... only chores and annoying events... BUT... with NO scripts... the game would be sent back to the stone ages... and could quite possibly be fun again... it's not about getting all events done... it's about having fun and being social... and competing with each other... THAT'S why people are quitting... because the game is boring and because there's no point in playing as no-one but the huge families can win.. level the field... and let the human factor play the important factor in the game... like the guy syaing he got up at 7 am to fight and ice... those days were AWESOME... and everyone here loved those days... and that's why we all played... but now, people are quitting left and right.... front and back... why? Ask yourself that question... scripts ruined the game 100% and they need to go in order for the game to be fun again... there's no hunting opponenets... there's no hunting parts and other stuff... a DB today is loading up a family ID in a script... let it run for 24-48 hrs... and then remove the familly ID and put in another... yeah, that's a lot of fun... hehe :P
i will cancel my VIP membership and stop the game if they will stop all the script. i think people you don't have personal life with family and you think it that you will stay all day in pc to play mafia wars. this is very stupid from zynga and like me a lot of people will stop the game .
ReplyDeleteindeed the game can never go back to the way it was. zynga let it go to far .. silly silly silly management . really . theres no way a new player can come to mafia wars its not posible. at all!! long ago zynga should have put a health cap on players and yeah lots of things. but as is the way of life they only looked at the money at the time.. not the long term money $$$ they could have make. whoever let all this happen needs to be shot and certainly fired from there job. i been here since the game startesd and truly it was a GREAT GAME!!! i spent heaps of rl money into the game and loved to do so .. its all lost now with drunken drug addicts who have the big accts. really when i say this i mean it im so very sad the game went this way.
