Your “Other” Inbox

Share:

By now I’m sure you have noticed that Facebook is trying to capitalize on your socialness and has caused another roadblock for gamers. In a fighting game it’s often necessary to contact players who are not on your friends list or somehow “connected” to you. I often find when attempting to send someone an inbox message that Facebook gives me the option to spend a dollar or send the message to the “Other folder”. I always pick the latter and haven’t really given it much thought. It was only recently that I realized I had another inbox and when I found it I was horrified by how many messages I have missed!

I often pride myself in keeping up with my inbox messages. It’s not easy but I really try because I don’t like to ignore people. During times when I get a lot of messages, I’ve found that pages of them get overlooked but that doesn’t happen very often. When someone pointed out to me that another inbox existed, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t noticed it before. To find it, click on the inbox icon. You will notice a faint shadowed “Other” option. Click on that and you will find where all those messages people didn’t want to spend a dollar to send you are buried. You can’t really blame them and the major fault of this system (for the users) is that many users who don’t realize it's there despite the fact that it's right in front of their face (guilty!).

For more details on your “Other” folder, go here. It’s probably a good idea for many to check it just as often as we check our main inbox. I apologize to everyone who I have never responded to. The best way to relay a message to me is on our fan page as I do check that everyday. It's also not nice to send me game related questions as that is what the fan page is for. If I'm going to take the time to look up answers then others who also have the same question should benefit as well.

    My Mafia-
We unleashed the My Mafia friend ladder to roaring applause. We love that everyone loved it! This had been in the works for a while as we looked for the best way to accommodate our millions of users and not interfere with any game play. We knew it was important for our users to have an easy way to sort through their mafia, and we gave you just that, and more. My Mafia can sort and rank by different criteria, and also shows which friends call for help, need an energy pack, or want gifts. It’s a truly revolutionary tool in the game, and we hope we’ve exceeded your expectations.
    New Properties-
The New York properties received a much-needed revamp. We switched them to flash mode, got rid of undeveloped space, and streamlined the properties so that instead of having a large amount of them, you’ll have a single view of each property that you can level up. You can easily collect from each property when it’s ready with your funds. You can also hit the ‘Collect All’ button to get all your cash in a single second! One reason we’ve changed properties is so we could incorporate the return of robbing, which so many of you have been asking for – be patient, it’s coming soon!
    Marketplace-
Another release we’re particularly proud of is the new Marketplace. We wanted to make a page with a fresh new look that’ll be easy for our users to navigate. We’ve introduced hourly sales specials, and great new loot and crates. You can also check the ‘Best Sellers’ and the ‘Hot and New’ categories to find out what the most coveted items in the game are, and also have items recommended especially for you based you your previous purchases and your style of game play. The Marketplace accepts international payments, so you can now purchase all your favorite Mafia Wars items in your own currency!
One of our main goals has been to update the look and feel of our game to keep it fresh and innovative for all of our loyal players, and we’re constantly striving to do just that with our updated features. In the coming weeks, we have even more fun and exciting things we’re planning on bringing your way. Be on the lookout for them as you play Mafia Wars! how long ago was this???

  3. Ha! Don't feel bad I just discovered the other box last week. I found messages dating back to 2009. Now I know why one of the admins thought I didn't like her...opps

  6. There used to be an option where you could change your message settings so that everyone could message you, and you could choose which messages to send to the other folder. I have now searched everywhere, and this option obviously doesn't exist anymore. I find it a disgrace that FB doesn't let us choose anymore who can send us messages and who don't.

  7. I know it's there, but mine is 99% spam, so I ignore it and look at it once a month.

Yours might have real messages treated as spam, 'cause you get so many MW mails? ~ Monika
