Najm Abu Haif got a few interesting rewards from the Arena. It appears there are now Attack and Defense Boosts. These will add to your attack or defense skills for 3 Arenas. I wasn’t able to reproduce this on any alternate accounts. Najm states that he is on Part 4 of the Limited Time Mission and only got these rewards when he was in 5th or 6th place from 100 Arenas. Maybe Zynga is doing another one of their experiments and we start to see them soon. I find it odd that an attack boost would be created as attack skills a very small role in the Arena. Defense is what determines the score and your attack skill only determine the rate at which you can bring down an opponents health meter. These boosts will be useful to players having a hard time in the Arena and hopefully make it more enjoyable.

Attack also counts because when you attack someone and he appears as hard you receive fewer points , if you attack he appears as easy you get more points . So attack is important also :)
ReplyDeletei got 5 k boost when i was wasting stam after finishing 5 th 1st time i got 3k but i only had 700 stam the 2nd time i had 300 stam both times with less than 20 xp before lvling up i have finished the mission ...... i got stam refils etc then when it got to 5 k ata and def bonus got lots of ices then back to normal lol
ReplyDeleteI think you miss the point attack is very important if not more so than defence.
ReplyDeleteIm very att heavy (40k/7k split) but do really well in the arena as i get to spend 40k of stam easy by killing the other players fast and getting the bonus for killing them is extremely important part of your score. You don't get a bonus for staying Alive for a couple of extra seconds!
btw i never get stam refills rewards or reflectors ;-(
ReplyDeleteyes i got these boosts and power ups twice like 7-8 hours ago but then afterwards its the normal loot.

They keep pushing the ZyngArena and trying to make it pretty - sort of like putting makeup on a pig. Most players aren't bothering with it (and around three out of four are skipping the current mission that requires it) because of the imbalanced emphasis placed on Defense and the arcade-like interface.
ReplyDeleteIf and when they equalize the importance of all skills to make it fair to all players, and tone down the graphics so those with older computers (and older elbows) are able to play maybe they'll get more interest.
Until then it's only useful for burning up excess Stamina when leveling, and even that's of limited usefulness for many.
it doesn't take a fast computer but a simple script is essential to fight in the arena which is unfortunately for many a fact.
DeletePersonally i was doing better when no script was out now i do pretty good and 2000+ and i dont play much so like everything if you dont lean how to play better you get beaten its 90 secs of 6 people trying to kill you what did you expect?
it took me 4 tries and i got it as well, but cant find the 3000 boost anywhere....
ReplyDeleteAttack is more important in the arena than defense is. Attack and stamina all day long!
ReplyDeleteIf you have 100k attack and 10k defense you will do a LOT better in arenas than if you have 100k defense and 10k attack (with the same amount of stamina). You get points based on how much damage you do, and the higher your attack vs your opponent's defense you get (many) more points, which makes you place higher, which gives you more respect (or lose less).
ReplyDeleteEspecially if you use powerups like reflect your defense won't even matter, and you will be able to score more in the few seconds more that you're alive with a huge attack. Surviving for a few more seconds but doing half the damage or less is not worth it. Heck you could survive the entire round with a huge defense but if your offense sucks your score will too and someone with a huge attack will eat up the other targets faster than you and outscore you.
That's not to say defense is useless but you get a lot more bang for your buck out of attack.
Problem is the top players out there have both huge attack AND defense...
Sorry but you guys are mistaken about the attack. I have the perfect account to test it on and I have. There is no comparing attack to defense or attack to attack. It only compares defense to defense. The greater the difference, the higher the score for the one with more. Scores = Damage. Damage is calculated on the difference between defense. My mini has less than 5K attack but over 20K defense and does well in the Arenas but crappy on the fightlist. The only thing a high attack score will help with is knocking down the health meter which is separate from the damage/score.
ReplyDeletePlease explain how someone who is (easy) I can kill in ~5 hits yet can turn around and take me out in 2-3 and outscore (outdamage) me in 1 on 1 and in the whole round in general? That's without any powerups in play including Kamikaze.
ReplyDeleteThe only conclusion I can come to is that player has a low defense but super high offense. I've seen this happen on many occasions which makes sense because it's quite a common playstyle since so many people used health for defense for so long and pumped their attack.
I suppose it's possible that the score (dmg) is calculated by A+D(and probably loot score as well but not sure) vs A+D and not AvD or AvA or DvD which would also fit.
I know you have a lot of arena experience and in general you're mostly often correct but short of seeing a video or two or a bunch of screenshots I remain very skeptical unless there's something you can explain that I'm missing.
Anyways thanks for the info :)
I think im closer to the arena reality below but no ones got proof as we cant control all the players in one arena to test.
DeleteSorry im probably one of the easy or medium guys with high att your experiencing.
Finally... something useful. I love the attack bonus, makes it much easier to bring down the opponents and stamina refills are also great!!!
ReplyDeleteIm sorry your still missing the point my weak defence high with attack account is over 2k respect playing part time and i never buy cards or boosts.
ReplyDeleteThere is a much bigger bonus for icing people than causing damage so the ability to kill quickly and get the ice is better than staying alive a little bit more which is the case unless your a monster i can pretty much equally hammer a balanced 2.2-2.4k respect accounts with only 7k defence.
I think the Myth of def is key to arena success is built on an unproven hypothesis.
IOve noticed you in 3 of my arena and apart from the pone with 5 onsters i beat you in the other two without using boosts.
If i missed where the def theory was proven id love a link but i only remember a post that worked out how we were classified as easy, medium and hard which does not prove how the scores are from hitting are worked out and MOST importantly the big bonus for icing in the arean which can see my stam burn achieving 0.5 per stam if i just burn on a moster but upto 2.5 if i get loads of ices.
I dought if i had any lower than 7k id do any worse and i dought if i had 12k id do much better.
In essence working out how to define easy/med/hard classification does not tell you scoring or bonus results. high att/low def account disprove def is most important in the arena and hints that att and high stam available is still the two key factors not that def is irrelevant but you cant ice without stam and you cant ice without killing fast.
One thing im not sure of as I dont do many arena and have not really tested but what the best att number for the script? im using 6-9 but if i put in 70 it does seem to make much of a difference.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone got info or experience to help?
No I'm not. You do make a valid point in that you get a bonus score for taking a person out. High attack brings the health meter down faster but does not factor in the score. On that premise yes you will score high if you get a lot of kills. Most just fire away at anything they can. If you can wait and get a lot of kill shots the bonuses will add to your score in for that reason but scores for all attacks (not kill bonuses) are calculated from defense. I'm sorry for those who have asked a post detailing this but I can't show formulas or reveal some of the information I have on this. And you are right with all the variables, testing on various accounts isn't proof of anything. But the scores you get for firing (minus kill shots are based only on defense differences).
DeleteBottom line the proof is in the pudding and my high att and high stam wins over balanced med stam account in the long run.
ReplyDeleteIm nearly 2100 after around 700 arenas without using any rps on boosts with only a 7k def.
There are also very important timing tactics when you have 1 or more monsters in your arena that can also be exploited.
[11:02] Results: 1. Flying Kiwi 3042 (0) 2. ****** 2089 (+11) 3. Big ShOw 2383 (0) 4. Ned Kelly 2377 (0) 5. ιммσятαℓ.. 1732 (+2) 6. SASHA-KRIK 1825 (0) <---- no boosts used I nearly beat flying kiwi and took out to bigger guns with a wee 7k def and that just my last one nothing special i didnt even win.
Lets leave it there you think def is more important and my experience of implementing good game play tactics says high att and stam are the tools to use.
I don't think, I know. But I think the issue here is we are talking about 2 different things. You are talking about the kill bonus and I am talking about the score per unit of stamina disregarding bonuses. I'm also talking about straight up scoring without tactics or strategy. Just points per stamina shot is defense based. No pudding here for proof, but I do have the advantage of getting to ask the developers.
DeleteYouve offered no tactics beyond defence points and the proof of the best way is the final result.
ReplyDeleteI with hold my tactics close to my chest bar a hint at timing is key when fighting monsters.
I don't debate the scoring I debate the best way to get a result and the proof is in a low def with high att and high stam account kicks ass of equal skills balanced over time.
As we have send many times in the game the initial developer direction which was designed does not always account for how its actually used and manipulated by the thinking player.
Feel free to follow the def route and im glad you've added around 10k stam since the last post i noticed when you were having trouble in the arena and i suggested you should buy more stam skills rather than waste more rp on boosts. Whether you paid attention or not is no matter but your account is better now than using boost to prop it up for 90 secs a time.
BTW i do like your blog as I don't really play much any more so im not chatting with my script/glitch guys any more so your my number one resource now ;-) <--i never thought i ever say that as i have written many a guide for players and exploits in the past privately so I do know what im doing.
Remember 2100 in just 6-700 arenas without using any rps with 7k def is not a bad show is it? I was not really trying hard TBO
i got these boosts for the 2nd day in a row now, might get twice a day for doing horrible, have recieved all boosts including arena stamina refills, no kamikazes though
ReplyDeleteYou people seriously playing the Arena are like drug addicts whose dealer is trying to get them hooked on yet another new drug. Zynga owns you.
