Arena Frenzy

Share:

The Arena Frenzy is a new gimmick to get players to spend money on the Arena. I’m sure most recall the Fighter’s Frenzy which was introduced in November of 2011 [1]. The Arena Frenzy works the same way. After you overpay 50 reward points for 18 Power Ups, you get to select one 1 temporary boost which will increase the stat of your choice for 4 hours. In Mafia Wars, 4 hours doesn’t mean squat and this is not recommended. At one time or another, all these Power Ups are available for free. If you are so inclined, pick defense. Arena scores are purely based on your defense skills and equipment (skills factoring more) compared to your opponents. Attack skills really don’t come into play in the Arena. A high attack score only helps to knock out your opponents health meter faster but does not factor into the scoring.

  1. I would grateful if someone could explain how arena scores are calculated. All I know is that on every occasion I enter an arena I am wiped out almost immediately and I have to use loads of health refills to try and stay alive long enough to attack anyone.

    1. The formula is unknown but score per hit is the damage done to your opponent and that score is based off your def (skills + equipment) compared to your opponents. The greater the difference, the higher the score will be for the one with more. Players with super high defense score way more per hit (stamina used) than those with lower defense. No amount of Power Ups can compensate the difference. Having high attack scores will knock the Arena Health down faster but not affect scoring. So if you have high attack skills, you can knock players out with less hits. There are some super strong accounts out there (like upwards of 1 million combined). These players tend to favor the Arena and it only takes them but a few hits to knock the health of the average to moderately strong players health. There seems to always be at least one in each Arena played and is a big reason many ignore the Arena. It's not fun when you can't even fire a shot off.

Umm, no. My best performer in the Arena is a looter with 10K Stamina and 10K Health, 5K Attack, and 1500 Def. Respect is currently at 2400, but will drop back to 600 to do it all over tomorrow morning. From that, I'd say it's all about Stamina (to take lots of shots) and Health (to stay alive long enough to take the shots).

    1. Health is a moot point in the Arena as it's capped for all once they reach 4K in the 100 Arena or 10K in the 500 Arena. Stamina is only a factor in the 500 Arena and that is only if some players run out. I find it very hard to believe and account with those stats has reached 2400 respect. Maybe you meant 1400. 100 Arenas are grouped by respect so you are probably in Arenas with easier opponents. Arena is purely based on defense skills. Health and Stamina only come into play if you have more than your opponents.

    2. I understand how it's "supposed to be", but for some reason it doesn't seem to be holding true for all players. Am Pretty sure it's 2400 since that's what it takes to get that "Highly Respected Gold" achievement. Managed that one a few days ago, but no clue how it happened since Spartacus was running unattended. Maybe in the infinite wisdom and programming logic of their "bracketing" something about the particular combination of stats gets weaker opponents? I know that account also gets amazingly easy fight lists compared to many other much lower level accounts with even weaker stats.

  3. I am sorry jen but not everything you mention is correct here ! I have accounts that have gotten over 4 k respect in the arena in just a few days, and one of them have 504 in defense !! http://prntscr.com/13nndw
http://prntscr.com/13nnka .. What do you think of that ?

  4. http://prntscr.com/13nrh3 and after that arena i got +5 in respect ! And yes i am the lowest one in there !! With 503 personal defense, and not using powerups!

    1. Respect has nothing to do with Respect. Respect is only based on placement. You beat 1 person and they had a higher Respect rating than you. You could have a defense on 1 and still gain respect.

    2. I mean Respect has nothing to do with defense. The things I mentioned have to do with the actual scores and not the rating system. Two totally different things.

  5. I realize this is an old post, but I have an Arena question and this seemed like the most logical place to ask it.

There are many Arena players with high respect in multiples of 1,000...12,000, 13,000, 14,000, etc. Are they real players or fictitious accounts like the fake ones who encounter on the fight list?

    1. Since you can no longer lose Respect, it is now more of an indicator of how many Arenas played and not necessarily strength. If a strong player hasn't done many Arenas, they will earn their Respect much faster than those not as strong. I've played in over 30K Arenas (thanks to scripts) and mine over 24,000. Once a player has 10K respect or more, Zynga rounds the number so you see a lot of even numbers.

  6. With all due respect (no pun intended), I don't agree with everything you've written about the Arena. Personally, I love it (after a long period of resistance and dislike) Like many who I've turned on to the Arena, it doesn't matter if you win or lose. It is a very quick way of burning through stamina and getting a decent number of ices. Once you stop worrying about wins and losses, and use it for the tool it is, you'll appreciate it more.

Win ratio is about 1 in 5. Seems like everyone is relatively equal in the Arena.

I have greater success when I reenter the Arena after losing 70%+/- of my stamina and wanting to burn the rest off. I don't think you get grouped based upon your respect (once you reach a certain threshold). I think you get grouped based upon the current amount of stamina you have. When I reenter with 2k-3K, I think I get grouped with similar players. Since they are probably mostly "younger" players, you have a better chance of winning.

  7. If you have 12,500 in stamina your ices will be 25 ices most times. If you have 7,000 in stamina you will get 14 ices. There are inflated scores but your stamina is inflated by your play. Not seeing too much change using Ammo. Is this just me or has anyone else seen these results. So it is all about stamina in the arena. Formula 12.5 x 2 = 25 ices. 7 x 2 = 14 ices. I am not seeing a variable being added for the ammo use. Is this just me. Just wondering if it is that simple
