Last night I told you about a script Brandon Venery was working on to remove the deactivated accounts that Facebook decided to add to your Friend List [1]. Brandon feels comfortable with it now and is letting people try it out. If you want to give it a go, follow the instructions below. The script will now work on accounts without Timeline.

1. Left click, hold, drag and drop the bookmarklet below into your bookmark toolbar.

2. Go to your Facebook Friends list. To get there, go to your Profile Page and click on the “Friends” link under the cluster of images of your friends or use the link below. Don’t worry, if you can’t find the right page, Remove Disabled FB Friends will take you there upon launch.

3. Click on Remove Disabled FB Friends which should now be located in your bookmark toolbar.

4. If you are on the wrong page, Remove Disabled FB Friends  will redirect you. Just click “Ok” and wait for the redirect. Once you are on the correct page, you will need to click on Remove Disabled FB Friends again to activate it.


5. Once activated, the program will sit at the top of your Friends List.

6. Click on the dropdown arrow to choose the method you would like the script to use. There are 3 choices. Auto Remove, Find and Sort and List Id’s.

Auto Remove will locate deactivated accounts and remove them as they are found. When the run is complete, you will get a log listing the “friends” that were removed.

Find and Sort will locate all of the deactivated accounts and list them all on the same page. From this page, you can manually remove the accounts or rerun the program to quickly remove them.

List Id’s will find all deactivated accounts and list their Facebook ID#’s. You can then copy the ID#’s and paste them into other removal scripts like Remove FB Friends.

7. Once you select the method, click the “Start” button and wait for the run to complete. It can take some time so be patient. The status messages are entertaining but you can leave the window/tab and return to check on it.

If you find it’s taking too long, manually scroll to the bottom of the page to make sure it’s actually scrolling. Once and a while it gets stuck. You can either start over or click on the “See More” link to force further scrolling. If the page is auto scrolling, it’s working fine. If there is no movement then you have a problem.

8. When the run is complete, the status will say “All Done!” and depending on the method you selected, you can view the accounts, log or ID list.
