Ever since Timeline appeared on Facebook there have been problems for Mafia Wars players. I’ve been sent many programs that claim to remove it and so far none of them have been easy to use. Today I tried a program called Timeline Remove. I was amazed at how easy it was and it really worked! Keep reading to learn how you can remove your Timeline or view profiles that have it in the old format.
A while ago, I added Timeline to one of my alternate accounts so I’ve experienced first hand how difficult it has been when it comes to Mafia Wars requests. As stated in a previous posts, in order to get your requests into the newsfeeds, you need to go into the Activity Log and add Mafia Wars (1),(2). You also need to write something on every generated request before you publish it and those are two things that many players don’t know they are suppose to do or simply don’t bother doing them.
To get the Facebook account that you are used to back, follow the instructions below.
1. Go to timelineremove.com.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select your browser. The icon of the browser you are using will appear larger than the others. I use Chrome so the rest of the instructions will follow what you see if you are in the Chrome browser. The other browser are very similar and shouldn’t be hard to figure out.
3. Look to the bottom left of your screen for the extension notification and click on “Continue”.
4. Wait for the installation process to complete.
5. Click the “Install” confirmation.
6. You may or may not need to restart your browser.
7. If you did everything right, you will see the Timeline Remove icon in the upper right corner of your screen.
8. Now just go to your Facebook account and everything will be back to normal!
To disable or remove this extension, go to your tools/extension manager.
It’s important to know that this only works locally on the computer you used to download. You will see your profile in the old format but others won’t (unless they have the program activated as well). Facebook does not condone programs that alter it’s appearance and could prevent this program from working at anytime.

More memory taking out, make our browser more slowly..?
Its only happen on my side, so when i post MW Thingy, i have to do the same trick to make other see it, if not, they will hard to find where is the he*l my post is.. heck, in their side the still see timeline template.
Make the use the same program..? what for, if they dont have timeline, why they wanna install a program that no used to them and only make their browser more heavier than usual..?
so far, this program are no use. you have to do manually set your post so other can see it. If i wanna change my FB look, i will install other script that will change my FB the way i like, heck....other still not see it anyway..

my MW post looks in timeline when i tray to see other to see i see only timeline and memory runs also end. i set my timeline not with this bug.
At is made clear in the post this is only a local visual plugin. The benefit is for those (like myself) that like to go to specific peoples walls and return the favor when they have clicked mine (finding posts in timeline can be a royal pita).

DeleteIf you create a list and add specific people to it, (I do this for my loyal players), you can then view these peoples walls in the old format, even if they have timeline. I find this to make things much easier when trying to return help (especially with build posts).

ReplyDeleteHave explored this extensively MWLL looking for a solution as I do not yet have Timeline and I am dreading it.This app tricks the browser into behaving like an older obsolete version of Internet Explorer that will not support Timeline (or any new bug fixes from FB for that matter)and will possibly (probably) be buggy. There is another app called User Agent Switcher that works in the same way. No real fix for Timeline as yet, but I am eager to find one.

ReplyDeleteDon't be so sensitive. Many have inboxed and posted this on my wall and elsewhere. I did attempt to look for the first person who did but our wall moves so fast and I couldn't find it. What can I do if I can't find or remember the persons name who posted what they believe to be first. If you have a hard time dealing with not having your name posted then you should not share on our page. If I had more time or made that post right away, it would be different. People who crave attention like this should inbox me with their name, ask if they were the first person in mafia wars to ever post something and then comment about it 20 times so that the person who makes the post can remember. I do my best with the limited time I have. It's not perfect but it's all I can do. I thanked everybody who posted it (as there were quite a few) and the person who reposted it today which reminded me.

I get about 50 messages a day from people who think I'm customer support, and 100 a day from people asking if I will accept their FR (which I have so many pending), another 50 complaining about ass members attacking them, and so on. My email is just as bad. If I had time to open, read and respond to all my messages, I would. I can't tell you how many important messages get missed because of all the spam. I'm just one person and this isn't a paid for service I provide. I also have a real life to deal with so those of you who complain, please offer a solution. There are only 24 hours in each day.

Sure, getting recognized as someone who did something innovative or found something others hadn't is great, but wanting recognized as someone who "shared" a program (that someone else created) with you is just dumb.

ReplyDeleteHas anyone yet been forced into Timeline? I keep hearing that it is rolling out, but the only people I know with it selected it voluntarily (or mistakenly).
My poor mother has had timeline forced upon her. No choice. She logged on last monday and it was there saying she had 7 days to sort it before it went live. She hasn't got a clue bless her. I had to go and check her security settings. So yes, It is happening.

This is BY FAR the best site for ANY new info in MW. Even today the new info about New Secret District, boss combos, and new boss fighter for Carlos was so helpful info for me. If u do not see the WONDERFUL way information that is shared in here as an awesome benefit then u need an enema to get you head out of your butt. This lady does this on her own time only for the love of the game...So do the Spockheads, for that matter, so the next time you have a thought....let it go!!

ReplyDeleteOK, nowhere else do I see mention of my experience, so I will throw it out there. First off, no timeline presently on my three accounts thank gawd. Tried download and install anyway so it would help me read other walls with Timeline was my theory. Went thru simple steps, nice write-up Jenn and installation started like normal. However, after stewing for awhile, 30-45v seconds, Norton woke up, analyzed the file nptimelineremove.dll, identified Threat Name: Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP and removed it from the system. More research may be in order? It could also be that everyone in the free world that plays Mafia Wars is downloading it and it's a high usage generated error. Anyone else in my boat?

this thing is like a fricken virus...it has totally screwed up my pc...i advise nobody to install this....i got no idewa wht u mean bout browser or menu or settings...i wants this thing out of my pc and if u cant walk me thru it u have no business advising ppl to install it
DeleteIt is just a browser extension and if something is wrong with it, it will only affect your browser not the rest of your PC. So it is likely your PC is infected by an actual virus or malware. Run Malwarebytes and run an anti virus scan on your PC. If you do not have an antivirus program download Avast free. Malwarebytes can be found by the same name with .org extension. If you want some one to walk you thru an uninstall you need to provide specific info such as what browser did you install on. If you go where you downloaded you will see they tell you how to remove the extension.
DeleteWhile you do have to add MW in the activity log to make sure posts show, you do NOT have to write on requests to make them show. I rarely add comments on my posts and my mafia members have no problem seeing my posts. While I find Timeline very disorganized (the opposite of what they intended, LOL), it isn't the bane of my existence either.

Timeline is being rolled out to all users. If you don’t have it now, then you soon will. If you have already made the switch and don’t like it, well, the bad news is that you are stuck with it. There is no way to revert back to your old profile.

Most of these require you to ‘like’ the page and ‘share’ a message with your Facebook friends. You will also likely be required to install either a browser plugin or a Facebook application. We strongly advise against doing this.

Maybe you could try this in firefox....your instructions work great in Google, but that's it

2. Health and health boosts.
3. Daily Take..
4. Begging for property parts - can only use the bulk one and not individual begs.
5. Half pages in the game - useless for fighting and doing jobs.

I am using it to clean my wall and then reverting back - unless there is some sort of fix for it.
It's a shame - IT LOOKS SO GOOD!

ReplyDeleteAt best, this only changes what you see, does not remove Timeline, and does nothing to change the view of others' pages or their view of your page. At worst, this is spyware and is hijacking all the information on your page. I wouldn't do this if you paid me. ReplyDeleteSo you do not have any addons, extensions, or toolbars installed in any of your browsers? It does not access all your info on your computer it is just an extension that changes your 'user agent' which is an identifier for websites to know what browser you are using so you can view their content the way it should be according to your browser. It changes your user agent to IE 7 for which facebook timeline is not designed. So therefore you see old style wall. Besides anybody that wants your info already has it, believe it or not!

However, I had problems with the Chrome Update. Many of the hot buttons did not work for me after I installed on Chrome.
If you did install Timeline Remove for Chrome and having trouble just Uninstall it [Click Wrench, Options, Extensions, Uninstall Timeline Remove]
It can access all your data and the websites you visit. No thank you. Will use my own program thx.

ReplyDeleteinstalled n tried works fine untill i played mafia... i couldnt manually heal .. everytime i clicked heal no hospital popup box appeared... soon as i disabled the timeline remover .. the pop up would work .. dont know if it me or missed something :(
ReplyDeleteUsing that, or any other similar add-on/extension, is not 'removing' timeline. It's simply forcing your browser to emulate Explorer 7, which is not supported by timeline. What you end up with is a more or less screwed up version of the old facebook format. And even knowing that's possible, I'd be cautious of where I d/l'd such an extension.

Grant an app access to the pages you browse, ok, access to all the data in my computer? NO WAY!
ReplyDeleteIt is easier and safer,because you are not using an unwanted program,to just add all friends (yes, it is time consuming) to your "Close Friends" folder. When you log on, then click that folder and it is back to normal. So if word would spread through Mafia Wars world, we can all go back to the normal page with FB consent.

ReplyDeleteso disappointing trying to get missions doen for builds, frustrates the hell out of you. and jobs, at least they add higher value loot for once comparded with old worthless junk that is always returned. timeline noiw least of concern, getting build to level 10 an perks to level 15 seems near impossible an to top it, the market gives so much more to paying players, it kills regular players efforts exponentially uintil its almost useless to be a "lowly" daily player any more, with cash cows getting so many high end loots to cripple years of work building a family and stat strength really really sucks, just to put it as nicely as possoble and what for is just sucks.

DeleteI like it and it worked just fine for me =) Only a few friends of mine see my profile as the Timeline. I get a lot of help from the bots in Mafia Wars, that I do not need to beg for help either way. I love having my old Profile back!!! Timeline was forced upon me and I am sooooo glad it is gone =)

ReplyDeleteI followed the directions and clicked on the FireFox browser icon. Then a window opened up at the top left of the screen to install it. I never made it to the "Continue" part. So I Installed it. But it did work. I never got the pen icon on my toolbar either. I'm still worried about it saying on the Install window that it can access everything on my computer and web sites I visit it. I don't think Loot Lady would steer me wrong. Still it is a big concern. Thinking about uninstalling it and dealing with TimeLine rather than having my privacy and especially everything on my computer accessed. It's like Big Brother made this. Does that make it easier for someone to hack me and take any information off my computer they want? Sure sounds like it. Does anyone know?

ReplyDeleteFYI on the timelineremove.com i have been using it since you posted the link above. no problems, was working great. today my AV is screaming at me that i have an Exploit Virus. when i do a full scan it comes up with the timeline script. anyone else getting this?
ReplyDeleteFluff Busting Purity (FB made them change the name) is the only answer that does not switch your user agent to IE7. If u are using Timeline Remove or any of the other "helpful" Timeline devices u might as well uninstall your browser and google/install an old version of IE7....The reason those tools work is they "convert" your FF, Chrome or Canary, Or Rockmelt (whatever) into IE7....Why IE7? Because it is the last version of ANY browser that is too old to accept new FB updates...which means that for appearance's sake u are opting into an older, slower, insecured (more likely to be phished or infected) browser. So if u are using one of those (CRAPPY) TL removers and maybe a script or 2 and u keep crashing or play is slow, it is because u are playing on IE7...no matter what u THINK u are using,,,u have switched the user agent..Go try FB Purity. It is EXCELLENT...It will NOT restore the exact look of old FB, but it will arrange posts into a "single column" format, which is dealable. It also has the added bonus of being able to hide the ticker, sponsored box, uploaded a photo.... and MANY other things. SO cool to see only what u want...It is pure gold....so much so that u can't post the link in FB...go try it and see! http://www.fbpurity.com/
