Job Help Changes

Zynga recently changed they way job help request work in order to squash a long standing bug. Their “fix” was to make it impossible to master a job by asking for help (1). They have taken 2 more steps to combat the ability to achieve 100% mastery through help requests and these clear up some of the confusion.

Now when your mastery progress bar is 1 job away from filling up, the “Ask” button will disappear. In the example below, I was at 90% mastery and could ask for help.

When I clicked on the next job my mastery increased by 6% and the “Ask” button became shadowed. This now happens when you will reach 100% mastery on the next click.

To cover for situations in which the help of 10 players would cause you to master the job, many are starting to notice a new help message in the game. In the example below, I had 88% mastery on a job that offers 8% mastery per click. If 10 players helped me and each contributed 4% then this job would easily hit 100% and cause problems if it were the last one of the current level.

I generated a help request and then clicked on it from my main account. The new message stats that you helped and you get experience and currency as before. The help message is now followed by…“However, Mafia Wars Loot Lady has not received your help. There are some things that must be faced alone”.

When I returned to the job, it increased by 4%.

To maximize on the energy savings asking for help can bring, make sure you ask when jobs are in the early phases of mastery.
