A Real Tie Hand

Share:

In Mafia Poker, Zynga explains in the instructions that in the event of a tie, "the person with at least one higher card than the other will win.". What this means is if you and the dealer (aka person) both have a pair of Aces, whoever has the next highest card in the hand will win. If your highest card is a King and the dealers is a Jack then you will take it down.
What Zynga never addressed was what happens when both the player and the dealer get the same 5 cards. In real poker, suits have no value in the ranking of hands but when drawing for seat positions in tournaments reverse alphabetical order of suits are used so Spades are highest followed by Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. Normally when a tie like this happens, the money that went into betting is split between the two players (aka splitting the pot). In Mafia Poker there is no betting and the player gets the win. Abhinav Gandhi encountered this rare occurrence and won the hand. This was a cool move by Zynga unless you encounter the Mafia Poker Bug (1).
