With about an hour left until Family Progression reset, the {ASS} Family got quite an unpleasant surprise. Our {ASS} vanished into thin air. Suddenly there are 101 players without a family. The first obvious change to our game is Family Progression is gone. There is no icon on the Mission Bar and those who hadn't collected their bonuses for the day missed out on additional experience.
The {ASS} Family Page has changed into the Create Your Family Page.
The "Bosses" tab has changed to "Operations" and the Boss Fights we were working on disappeared. We consistently reset our Family Boss Fights so Zynga is missing out on some Reward Points!
Yesterday we upgraded our Artillery Station to Level 8. Today it no longer exists.
From the Family Property Home Page Module, clicking on the "Build Now" buttons brings us to a blank page or it says that "You need to be in a Family to be able to build Family properties".
We can't even collect Artillery Shells from the news feeds. When I tried, I was told "Sorry, you've already collected the maximum number of gifts from these requests today" and directed to the Family Page asking me to "Join A Mafia Family". I attempted this well after the reset and simply can not collect any parts from the news feeds.
What really sucks about this is the 8,000 bonus points to our attack scores as well as the +1000Attack/+1000Defense from Family Progression Perks 2 and 6 (+500 each) were removed.
We were also in a Family Battle and that vanished. The Family Requests section of the ZMC is no longer there.
The Family Battle we were participating in vanished. Yesterday our family was #38 on the leaderboard for Skirmishes. Today we are no longer there.
The Gift Send Pages no longer has the Family category which made sending gifts easier.
Instead of Assassin-a-Nators it says Suggested Friends.
Initially our Family Tag remained but several hours later it vanished as well. This was a devastating blow to any hopes that this wasn't a serious problem.
As of yesterday we were well on our way to Level 10 of Family Progression. We can only hope that Zynga didn't lose our data but we have it captured as well as our other statistics.
To rub salt in our wounds, we are all greeted with an additional popup when we first go to our Mafia Wars game. I'm not amused!
As far as I know this is an isolated incident and other families are not having this problem (1). This is causing emotional stress in our family because many players think they were booted without warning. I don't know how a family can just vanish into thin air and we aren't very confident that Zynga will help us. We were told by Customer Support that it was a display error. A lot of work (and Reward Points) has gone into getting to where we are today. It's scary to not have any support from Zynga and not know what the future holds. Today is a official day of rest for the {ASS} Family and we can only hope things are restored in a timely fashion.
Usually when I say "I lost my ass" it's in reference to a bad gambling session or a good diet. I never knew it would have another meaning. There are now 101 players without an {ASS} and I hope we find it soon.
I could imagine why it was happening....i dont know what u got, but maybe your family was "too" lucky with the good(200 stats) items from boss fights...which were obviously hacked....could be kinda a punishment :P. If thats not the case...Zynga did it again :D
If I remember right; did this not happen before?Some idiot will have complained about the {ASS} tag.... If so can you follow up with the same course of action that you did before?

Seriously darjan? One guy get one item after we'e done thousands of boss fights (most of which we paid for) and you think he was a hack? If that were the case we would all have a bunch like some families who did use a glitch.
@anonymous, the tag was removed because haters said they were offended. Zynga uses the term Ass in game so they decided to restore the tag. This is something more serious and if it can happen to us it can happen to any family.

I was lucky enough to be in the Ass family from the start and had a great time with you guys. I hope you get this sorted and {ASS} gets reinstated. You have my support 100%
I personally will stop playing MW as well until you get your {ASS} back in the proper and even improved state. I will not act as a party to {ASS} but will cite them, amongst other things. I have an extensive law background and had to already contact my attorney for previous matters. The end story, it is not considerrd a game under law since they sell additional services for there main defective service, their gqme. Zynga can write whatever they want in their T.O.S.,it is not binding by Federal or state law. They are wide open for a class action suit, but doesn't occur bc people keep on playing. I will update you as I have another servvice issue that I paid fot and didn't recieve. We'll get your ASS back I guarantee, and my attorney, now a congressman I'm sure would agree. All in polite, factual, statute jargon.
I think it's safe to {ass}ume Zynga does not like the tag. Even though we all know it's more than a derogatory term for our posterior, they may seem a little more conservative which doesn't make sense because they're in a very liberal state.
Sorry this happened to all of you. I have fond memories of being in the ASS family for the first family event, still have the originals as my friends, and hope this is just a glitch that will be restored! Part of me though suspects this is just another way Zynga has devised to get veteran players to quit the game before they shut it down.

i've been having family issues since 26th december.. zyngas emailed (as no live support) reply? its with our developers!! my name is on the family roster yet i have no red tag before my name, no family prograssion on mission bar, i cant help build, nothing!! when i click to join a boss fight from an invite it says something about error response 500 - never closed.. hope you guys get it sorted soon!
That is total BS. I always love when they say the "zynga programmers are working on the problem". Has anyone ever heard from these so called "programmers"? Zynga broke their own Live Chat and can't fix, and now this? I think they need to change the name Zynga to ASS, would fit so much better. Good luck with getting it all back. Please post an update of what is happening so that if it happens to anyone else, they will know what to do and how to do it.
My mini account has had the exact same thing happen to it. We did not have an offensive name in any way shape or form as we were known as "Reckd THEM" so I do not believe that is is associated with being offensive. Zynga apparently has some very major issues. Sorry for your troubles and hope you get a full restoration.
My group got its name taken away for a while. They gave us some weird name, but we kept the family and all the family bonus's we had bullt up. But. We appealed, got the family name back, and that is when our family stats went back to 0. The thing is, someone probably turned the name in as being offensive.

I think everyone should be doing screen shots of there family events, this is terrible what has happened to you, all your hard work , time, and growing of friendships and to have it just vanish. Best wishes of getting everything back , i have it posted on my wall hoping it will be shared among all families.

The name is not offensive as it is commonly used in the farming communities. Should Zynga make this claim, refer them to a dictionary. I'm sorry to read this about your family. :-(
A while back another clan faced the same problem, everything just vanished never to be seen again, Zynga couldn't find any record of the clan, a whole family wiped out just like that! Zynga only offered 50 rp's for the GF to buy a red tag but as he was already "tagged as the gf of the original tag" it couldn't be done. In the end the GF had to buy a new red tag and start all over from the begining.... I hope Zynga doesn't let you down the way they left this clan out to dry! Good luck!
That's really awful! I hope Zynga fixed this soon, reward the ASS family properly & prevent this from ever happening to any family in the future. About the name, if that's the case, Zynga should have contacted/ warn/ etc the admin/s 1st b4 doing such a harsh punishment on so many good, hardworking players. Good luck to ya all.
Trust Zynga they couldnt get a beer in brewery with out spilling it. Still amazes me the amount of people who use there credit card on this game then they complain cause it didnt work the way they wanted. Everybody knows this game has so many issues so what do u expect untill people stop spending on it zynga will never fix it there laughing all the way to the bank

Wow if it happen because of the name I don't understand I see character and family names all day long that are so much worse. I remember at one time the community policed itself if the name was racist or derogatory or just plain offensive. I don't see that happening anymore at all
Funny how all the lazy players who utilize scripts claim to know about scripts but then they are the weakest players in the game! Guess the 2 dollars they spent on RP's would have been more use in Farmville!
1st I could say Someone outside could find a way to hack a family and Disable it. Can be a member of your own family. I Know some guys who can realy done.. DONT BLAME ZYNGA.. After reading these comments I have the feeling that the world is coming to an end, it is just a silly flash game on facebook, nothing more. Don't let it take over your lifes completely, there are far more important things than Mafia Wars. The game is ending anyway, all non-paying players quit because they can't win anything anymore, the gap between paying and free players is just too big. Paying players all have about the same strenght, so not much of a challenge there.
Anyway, I can imagine it sucks because of all the money you've spend on it, full compensation for lost money whould be appropriate.

Well Unfortunately this is now NOT an 'isolated' incidence as my family 'Hells Soldiers' have now also 'disappeared' EXACTLY as the ASS family. This happened about 4 hours ago, Zynga support has been less than useless, for now we still have our red tag, but i hope it doesnt disappear altogether :(

I started to take screenshots of our family progresses, if this would happen to us too.. If those help or not - zynga has a mind of its own :(
