The Official Mafia Wars Blog has announced that the Daily Chance feature will be removed from the game tomorrow. I don't know which surprises me more, that they are removing a useless feature or that they told us ahead of time!
Mobsters,
As we work on improving Mafia Wars for you, we constantly monitor various aspects of the game to understand what engages you the most & what doesn’t. Based on usage statistics, we have decided to do away with Daily Chance to make space for new features and/or improve the game performance. As of tomorrow, you will no longer be able to submit a ticket in Daily Chance. The prizes & rare items that were previously available through this feature will now be available through other existing & new game features, so rest assured that you will still have the same opportunities to win freebies!
Thanks,
The Mafia Wars Team
We are assured that the "rare items" will be available in the game by other means. Thanks to the loot cloning scripts that destroyed the trading community, they are already available to the masses. Ironically those that were able to create and utilize these scripts ruined it for themselves as well. Loot sellers were the main target when Zynga changed the gifting system to what it is today. Loot cloning scripts still work today and until Zynga can figure out how to combat them, we probably won't see decent loot made available for gifting (1). If you don't have all the Daily Chance collection pieces, ask around. I know people have trouble giving them away!
Zynga didn't update the Daily Chance Page to warn players about the removal. Those who don't see their blog post will be contacting Customer Support tomorrow. They really need to adjust this to avoid player confusion. It false advertising if they don't.
You can only submit 50 tickets a week so many will have unused tickets that will vanish into the Zynga Black Hole. You will get an error code if you try to submit more.
I have 105 unused tickets! I'm not too upset about it because I don't use the feature.
I'm sure they will forget to update Mystery Bags in the same manner as they have done with Thai Bhat. I'm still getting that from opening present day Mystery Bags!

I honestly don't believe anyone ever won the 1,000 Reward Points. Zynga killed the daily chance, when they moved it into the marketplace. When it was on the main screen, people played it everyday, even after vaulting the collection.
ReplyDeletefew days ago 4 match ball reward = 238 RP
ReplyDeleteThey can't at least end it after this week's drawing?
ReplyDeleteI vaulted the 'Daily Chance' collection long ago and really saw no gain from it. I'm guessing the increased drop rate it gave was only in NY???
ReplyDeleteomg! what about us who completed the collection???? i got mine completed by trading high end loots...something about 10% more chance of job loot drops? will that be gone too????
ReplyDeleteI have been playing the daily chance religiously for YEARS and have NONE of the daily chance collection. And now I find out if you know the right people you can just have them given to you?
ReplyDeleteWhat a shit game. I'm just so fed up with this...
I need to find out who to talk to to get a few lotto collection to help out me and a few friends...or learn how to use this cloning script? any info or help would be nice... thanks
ReplyDeleteOutside of a few 50 rp wins, the bulk was nothing more than outdated building supplies
ReplyDeleteZ says " you had a chance, translates into, No way is this ever going to happen. Besides 10% of nothing is still nothing. I see this as nothing more than an early attempt to weasel money from the user base. I suppose I should not get too mad at them, after all, they are in the business to make money
Steve 06-10 and still not banned
john thompson, read up! we don't want people using clone scripts and ruining the game for everyone else.
ReplyDeletei have last year (after 2 years mw)one time 166 rp won. 4 matchballs
ReplyDeleteThe drop rate is equal to nule...Firstly 10% is nothing and i didn't see any difference...
ReplyDeleteinstead of throwing daily chance pieces as waste in ny jobs they could have added them to their other wasteful event of daily take with very less drop rate. seems finally zynga wants us to quit mafia wars... RIP Mafia Wars.

this wording gave the impression that the ability to SUBMIT a ticket would be withdrawn from 24th. Many people, including myself, used up any tickets they could before the deadline, but we now find that the daily chance feature is missing completely.
What is happening to the tickets we submitted - ie Will there be a draw at the end of the week and the prizes awarded?
If there is to be not draw and the submitted tickets are just cancelled, why did the feature continue to run for a day after the announcement and why was this not made clear in the original blog post?
Zynga support answer
I will do my best to answer to any question that you have with the Daily Chance feature. As you know this feature was removed from all the accounts, and since this was removed the tickets that you submitted in the feature will not count and will be cancelled, because the feature doesn't exist anymore. You don't have to worry because there will be more features that you will enjoy.
