You can't even go off line for a day without missing all kinds of things in Mafia Wars. I was checking out the official Mafia Wars Blog and saw a interesting and shockingly useful post. Zynga is asking the community to help them identify all of their bugs in a post titled "What's Missing from our Known Issues Lists?". I was happy to see plans to improve the Known Issues thread. It's a great concept but will only work if it's maintained and updated on a regular basis. Don Perogi, Community Manager, posted a Known Issues thread for the week. This hasn't been done in a while so it's nice to see it return (1).

Issue: Some players report that their "Draw" button goes missing. Others report that, even after understanding that we consider the Ace the highest card, not the lowest, they will sometimes lose with a winning hand, such as two pairs vs. the dealer having just one.
Status: We have determined that most, if not all, of these issues are the result of playing Mafia Wars 1) in multiple tabs/windows, 2) with scripts, and/or 3) while you have Greasemonkey activated in Firefox, even if you are playing Mafia Wars in a different browser. Please try deactivating Greasemonkey in Firefox (if you use it), disabling scripts (if you use any), and playing the game in only one tab/window at a time. If you still experience any issues with Mafia Poker after taking these measures, please add your details to this Bug Report.

The known issue: "Feed Permissions Not Being Honored" ....am I reading it correct that they recommend us to shift to the timeline???? I won't shift to timeline until I quit MW...if I ever will!
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this system is that it's so complicated and convoluted most people won't bother to use it at all, much less properly.
DeleteWith bug reports in one place, suggested workarounds in another, and resolved problems in yet another it's a royal pain to try to find something much less what its status is. It's made even worse when some bug topics are created as subtopics below other topics, and especially when the information is allowed to become outdated to the point that "workarounds" for an older bug that's been resolved now appear to be applicable to a new bug that's cropped up.
There's a lot of known issues there, so why release new events? To be honest it's so they can increase the amount of clicks and improve on their app data. A list that long speaks volumes about the inability to repair a simple java based game.

Since players are doing the developers' jobs by debugging their features, there should be some compensation.
