We Don't Need No Stinking Badges!

When Family Battles were introduced to the game on September 16th, most players were confused. Zynga provided no explanation on how battle scores are calculated and there wasn't any incentive to utilize the feature.

We are still confused about the scoring and leaderboards but loot rewards were added and many families started to participate. Initially, battle rewards were for a limited time. As soon as they were pulled, most families stopped doing them.

Our latest "limited time" battle rewards seem to be permanent. The banner stating they are available for a limited time was pulled and we have had battle rewards since November 18th. My family really likes Boss Fight loot so everyone got on board and doing as many battles as possible became a goal. They wanted the loot but I really wanted the highest level badge. There are 15 Levels of Battle Mastery and you get a new Battle Badge with each level. Unfortunately these badges don't come with any perks so most don't really care about them.

The {ASS} Family got their Level 15 Badge and I felt it was a cool accomplishment. Nobody else seemed to care. I was curious to see what happens when you get there. The Battle Mastery progress bar is automatically filled to 100% and the Battle Badge experience is over.

I wish Zynga would offer something for progression through the levels but they don't. You get nothing but a badge and this has most in the Mafia Wars community singing "We Don't Need No Stinking Badges".
