The Turkey Racket

Share:

Yesterday I made a few posts about the emails Zynga sent out to players warning them that their accounts were going to be rolled back. This was due to flaw that allowed players to collect more than one Butler during the Save Dons Diner Event.
I don't think it's a coincidence that these emails were sent out on the same day that Part 2 of Save Don's Dinner expired. In case you didn't notice the Save Don't Dinner Is Over Home Page banner that lingered for 7 days, let me refresh your memory. The fine print stated "But you still have 7 days to purchase and redeem Thanksgiving Turkey's to collect the Butler. Hurry before time runs out.".
It's obvious that Zynga waited for the purchase phase to expire before notifying players that extra Butlers would be taken away. It makes me wonder if the "design flaw" was intentional so that players would purchase more Turkey's. What a great business concept...Let the players think they are getting away with something so they spend money doing it.  The problem with rollbacks is players who didn't do anything wrong will end up losing legitimate Butlers.
The Butler rollback will probably do more harm than good to Zynga. It demonstrates sleazy business practices and turns players who do spend money off. If you weren't thinking about joining the 25 million players who quit Mafia Wars, the past few weeks gave you many reasons to jump ship. In addition to the Ruby Butler rollback, free gift, property part and Mission Crew links were intentionally broken, the continuous play warning notification returned and we got slammed with events requiring resources beyond what many players have. I'm starting to think that the entire game is no longer worth wasting money and I'm shopping for a new addiction.

Thanks to Eike for pointing out that rollback emails were sent on the same day as Turkey purchases were no longer available.

  5. what Anonymous # 3 said ... it seems to be a deliberate tactic now ... they are not fixing anything and breaking everything that does work ... besides if they pull mw .. they will get slammed with law suits .. but if players leave themselves its not their problem ... easier to just make the game so hard to play to do anything then to just pull the plug

  6. Thanks to Zynga my decision is now easier for me.
Mafia Wars is BLOKED after more than 2 years of playing.
This showed me that I would not play any of their game, hope that you all see also how much they care of us!
Good Luck to all players who have stayed and spent their time and money on nothing...

  7. People are still playing Mafia Wars? How, there are only 24 hours in a day?

Loot Lady..I quit a few months ago, my wrist couldn't take the strain and if I want another job, it will be one that pays. Zynga jumped the shark again

  9. Just quit playing, or at the very least, stop buying reward points. Some good news: Mafia Wars 2 was a huge fail and soon will have less daily players than Mafia Wars 1.

  10. People taking advantage of exploits get zero sympathy from me. On the other hand, I agree they should just let this be. It's just not that big a deal. They've left alone much bigger problems that this... it just feels petty.

What astonishes me is that they forgot to cover off the multi-click thing. How does this happen over, and over, and over...
