Operation Update Needed

On October 4th of last year, Social Missions (aka Operations) were introduced into the game. In December of the same year the name was officially changed to Operations because they wanted to name another new feature Missions. Since their introduction, there have been 3 generations of Operations. We often see features added to the game that eventually become underutilized because Zynga stops updating them. It looks like Operations are heading down this road.

1st Generation

On June 28th, Operations got their third update. It's been close to 6 months and the loot is now obsolete to most players. Below are the rare loot items from the latest 6 Operations. Rare items are in fact rare when it comes to getting one as a reward. More often than not, you get common and uncommon items. You are also limited to 10 rare items a day so players who want many rare loot items have to do a ton of Operations everyday.

The Monofin is probably the last one standing that will increase most players equipment scores. When you consider the fact that it's attack score is tied with Goth Boots from the Fight Club, it's not very exciting to get one.

According to my inventory, all 26 of my Monofins are active but I own 209 Gothic Boots of which only 24 are used. I could go out and get more Monofins and it would do nothing to improve my score.

Because Operations loot no longer helps many players, people have stopped doing them. While doing jobs, you get game interrupting (and annoying) Operation popups.

If you choose to accept them, you have to leave the Job Page and that is a pain in the ass. Most choose to close them out and deal with the extra click of removing them rather than the redirect to the Operations Page.

It's sad that Zynga hasn't updated Operations because they were popular. Many players enjoyed them and it created a social aspect to the game. Many group pages were created so we could all help each other finish them. It seems the only use for Operations these days is the fact that you can get 4 Helper Points for Family Progression. Those who don't get a lot of gifts find Operations can be very helpful. The problem now is finding them. I don't see as many in my news feeds as I used to. The most popular group page is Finish My Operations. You should still be able to find plenty of Operations there but I noticed the page is not as active and fast paced as it has been in the past. This can all be attributed to Zynga slowly making Operations useless. They either need to update this feature or remove it like they did with the Crime Spree.
