Forbes Interviews A Mafia Wars Player

Share:

Five days ago, I posted an article from the Forbes website which showed compelling evidence that Zynga doesn't have much regard for their existing players (1). John Sweeney made a excellent comment on this article and gave the Forbes readers a little inside information from the player base side of the house (1).

The author, Paul Tassi, must have taken notice because he asked John for an interview. Today the interview was published and this article can be added to the growing list of evidence that investors should be concerned about the Zynga IPO. I don't think the publicity Zynga has gotten out of the Alec Baldwin incident distracts investors from the big picture (1). Potential investors are the target audience of Forbes, not the players.  If John was more satisfied with the way he and other players were treated by Zynga, this article wouldn't cast a shadow of doubt with investors. To read what John had to say, go here.

"One longtime fan I found stood out in particular as being very knowledgeable about the brand, and I decided to give him a forum to voice his complaints about Zynga, and what he says is representative of a host of veteran players dissatisfied with the company, and the explanation for why the company is bleeding users, and fails to retain players past a certain point, something that’s a bit unsettling for investors ahead of their upcoming IPO."/Paul Tassi for Forbes

  1. Everyone should go to the Forbes article and comment. Let investors know how the players feel about this company.

  2. LOL John
now this part of interview is funny :v

Well, maybe I will buy a single share just so I can go to the shareholder meetings to demand change, but then again Pincus doesn’t care anyway, so I guess I will just buy a value meal at McDonalds and call it a day.

  3. As I wrote yesterday and will write every day I think they stink. They are bleeding the players, putting impossible tasks on us and giving a very unfair advantage to the larger clans. They are essentially killing off the small clans. With this new robbing crap small clans are dead. I personally am sick of this game and I know many others who feel the same. Don't know how much longer I'll be in this game. Would prefer to go back to yahoo games.

  4. Accurate view of the state of the nation from our point of view. Wonder what will happen to Zynga in 3 mths time, will they be in the current form, or death by a thousand cuts?

  5. I've had John in my friends before, not my recent account. As a player since the early days of MW, he's by far one of the best people to speak on behalf of the customer base for sure. Great article and much respect to John Sweeney. One of the all time great MW players for sure. Tells it how it is and a salute to Jen for posting this.

  6. This company has gone to dogs..it's so true...reading those articles makes us feel we are conned in a superb way...Zynga can take all the money and shove it up their ass...if app metrics is anything to go by then this game is heading towards a Destination called Disaster...
