Continuous Play Warning Message: It's Back

Share:

Players have been posting throughout the day that the continuous play warning message is back. Those who have are stating that they had just logged on or weren't playing for very long.
This warning message first appeared on November 17th (1). Zynga then notified us via the forums that it was designed to flag accounts that were playing for more than 20 hours without a 4 hour break.

Accounts that log actions for 20 or more continuous hours without a minimum of 4 hours in between are flagged and will receive this message. If this is not the case and you are seeing this message, please submit a ticket to Customer Support for investigation.

On November 20th, it was shut off and called an experiment (1). As to why it's back is not clear. The problem is that player who leave their accounts open in a window they aren't using are at risk. This is a common practice, even from players who don't use scripts.

This experiment has been turned off while we investigate other reasons players may be seeing it.

I didn't see an update on the forum thread about it so I asked if the "experiment" was back. Maybe it's no longer an experiment and Zynga is going to punish all of their addicts. This should help to keep the DAU numbers on the downward slope. From what I hear the warning has returned.

Is this back?

Cerulean Master responded and indeed the experiment was turned back on and being monitored for accuracy. If you go by the comments players who are getting this warning are making, accuracy is still an issue.

This experiment has been turned back on and is being closely monitored for accuracy.

There was a second reply with more information. Leaving tabs open and having the Zynga Toolbar installed should not be causes for getting the warning. Something else is causing false positives and hopefully Zynga can isolate it. I've been told that getting this message multiple times can lead to temporary suspensions so those who are getting it in error have some cause for concern and should fill out the a bug report linked below.

The above still stands true for the reason anyone should be receiving the warning.

The following has been confirmed to not interfere with this update:
  • The Zynga Toolbar.
  • Leaving game open w/o logging actions.

  2. Since when does a company find that if someone is using their product 24/7, it's a bad thing? I thought that was the goal. If bots/scripts are their problem, then they should state it in the warning, instead of dancing around what they really mean. Douchebags.

  3. I've got a question, When you say 'log off for 4 hours' do you mean log off of facebook or just leaving the mafia wars game play page? Just to clarify.

  4. There are ways around it, i haven't had this new one yet. Heard some players only been on for a hr a day & received this message.
Does removing the app & re adding still work when they flag your account?

  7. i'm 24/7 ing and i didn't receive it yet... I randomly restart my pc 2-3 hours a day, so there are interruptions, but i didn't get this yet... What exactly does the Flagging involve?

  8. They know if you allow them to access your data even when you are not using the application, hence the reason I deny them this access. NO application gets to access my account when I'm not using the application and I want to know why Zynga or MW need access to my Facebook Chat and my Inbox(needless to say these are denied the same as the access my data at anytime)

  9. I just took a crap and it is already making much more sense than the idiots at Zynga!

  10. Okay, an open tab and the toolbar don't count against the timer ... what about falling asleep at the keyboard? That's the one I have to worry about!

  11. Good one about falling asleep at the keyboard! That's ME!.. lol.. I'm wondering if logging off then on again helps Zynga's application daily used metric. Perhaps being on 24/7 does not collect new data for the next day? I do like the other comment about IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!

  12. I received on of these today,I think I have been logged in since May 2010, and I still can't find a log-out button. Anyone know where to find one. I have just about had enough. This is the only game/Company that I know of that likes to put its customers' shorts in a wad every chance it gets. Napoleon Complex??? Maybe.

  14. It is not about the money. I have purchased over 8k RP's in the past 30 days, as I have been doing a lot of fighting. I still got this message when I logged in this morning. I emailed Zynga support to complain.
I have a lot of holiday time coming up soon, and it would be absolutely ridiculous if my account was suspended because I was paying to play.
    This is just unbelievable.

  15. I received this response from Zynga Customer Support today:

My name is Marco and it is my pleasure to address your concern.

I want to inform you that message is part of a new security system that will protect our player's account and their health. Since mafia wars is not a game designed to be run more than 24 hours this protection system will avoid our players damage their accounts. Besides, this feature has also been designed to reduce cheating in the game since there are many players that keep running bots in their accounts to improve their stats. I suggest you to log out after five or six  hours of playing your game to avoid this kind of warning messages in your account and you can log in as many times you want and right away after you log out if you want it.

  16. How hard can it be to figure out that somebody with 25k stamina fighting 3-4 different players at the same time, is running a bot??
Not to mention that they level 100 times a day.
Or what about the ones that reach level 15,000 in 3 weeks? Probably running a bot.
Fighting, Jobbing and collecting from news feed at the same time. Probably a bot.
From what I read here and in the forums, if you are just logged on and not doing anything, no problem. If you get flagged by mistake, report the mistake.
As usual, the loudest complainers are probably running some kind of a bot.
Personally, I would love to see more of the bots out of MW. How annoying is it to log on and be killed immediately by the bots that don't care about how many levels above you they are or how many hits it takes.
Well done Zynga, work out the bugs and get them all out of the game. Maybe then it will get back to the game we all use to love.

  17. I got one of these messages and I was not running a bot. I was actually playing the game and had been for like 5 hours at the time because I am an insomniac and I got the message. I WAS PISSED! I got the other messages about clicking too often when I was pushing too fast and furiously in fighting...so hard to find one to fight I couldn't let them get away...and they sent me a message and I laughed because I was clicking faster than the bots LOL
