Brazil 3X Mastery: Strategy & Drop Rates

Share:

3X mastery in Brazil is in full swing. If you follow this blog, you knew it was coming even before Zynga told us about it last week (1). Zynga's original announcement contained an error but it was later updated (1). From now until 11:59pm PST on December 20th, all jobs in Brazil will offer 3X the mastery.
Unlike Italy, there are many more players who have not fully mastered Brazil due to the ridiculous energy requirements in the later districts. This event is great news.  Here is how it works...If you do a job, you get the original mastery of the job plus an additional bonus of 2X the mastery. For example, the District 5 job "Smuggle Weapons Down the River to a Recife Port" offers 6% mastery. With 3X Mastery available, you will get an additional 2 rounds of mastery for every click.
After doing the job one time, I got 18% mastery instead of the 6% I normally would have gotten.
2X Mastery Boosts will add an additional round so you can get 4X Mastery per click. In the example below, I have 10 2X Mastery Boosts. The District 3 job "Blackmail a City Official" normally offers 12% mastery.
After 1 click (using a 2X Mastery Boost), I got 48% mastery. The original 12%, plus 24% for the 3X mastery and another 12% for the 2X Mastery Boost.  2X Mastery Boosts are only consumed on the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. If you're already on the Ruby level, they won't help you.
The Strategist Bonus is useful on all levels of mastery and will add another round of mastery to each job. You can activate this bonus once every 8 hours and it is good for 20 jobs.
If you really want to have fun, activate your Strategist Bonus while you have a 2X Mastery Boost in your Inventory.  In the example below, I did the District 4 job "Move to a Sao Paolo Safe House". The baseline mastery for this job is 8%.
With the 3X Mastery Bonus plus a 2X Mastery Boost, I got 32% mastery for one job which is 4X mastery.
I activated the Strategist Bonus and gained 40% mastery (72-32) for one job which is 5X Mastery.
If you are fully mastered in Brazil, there is still reason to do jobs. The standing Jet Ski will drop randomly from all jobs in Brazil.
The Standing Jet Ski is a great defensive vehicle and will be active for most players. The only bad thing about this item is it replaced one of the new fight loot items we got yesterday (1). It's pretty sad when new fight loot becomes obsolete in one day! Especially when only two of the four items were useful to most.
The drop rates for Standing Jet Skies are better than the other loot drops in Brazil.  I did 2 runs using the lowest and highest energy jobs to compare the difference. In the first run, I did the first job in District 1 which costs 54 energy 1,000 times. I spent 54,000 energy and got 22 Standing Set Skies.
I did the same run but use the last job in District 8. I spent 810,000 energy this time and got 437 Standing Jet Skies. This comes out to about 1,853 energy per Standing Jet Ski. On the cheaper job, the energy cost per Standing Jet Ski is 2,454. There are many variables and this was just a one time test but it looks like you will spend about the same amount of energy regardless of which job you do. It's safe to say that Standing Jet Skies drop more frequently on jobs that cost more energy.
Activating your Lockpick bonus which offers 2X the loot for 20 jobs sounds like a good idea.
Unfortunately it doesn't matter because it doesn't apply to Standing Jet Skies. I activated my Lockpick and a Standing Jet Ski dropped. There was no green border.
I double checked by doing a different job and took before and after images of my inventory. The image shown below is highlighted in green because I have the Spockholm Toolbar activated which highlights the jobs with the best experience/energy ratios.

  1. What this also tells us is that doing the secret district is a waste except for picking up extra skill points for finishing jobs, but for inventory improvement your energy is better spent mining for the 3x XP event loot item.
