The Official Mafia Wars Blog reprinted their post about the gifting update from July 7th. The did add a new paragraph so I'll just post that one as I've already outlined the details of the Gift Request changed here. To entire "new" post can be found here. Looks like gifts from the Facebook Request Page will be a "thing of the past" once you clear out your old requests. If you want to clear them out all at once (as most of them don't work), block the Mafia Wars Application and then re-add it.
A Note About Mafia Wars Requests on the Facebook Game Requests Page
The enhancements above were made possible by shifting the handling of Mafia Wars requests to be entirely in-game. Another change that results from this is in the behavior of Mafia Wars requests on the Facebook Game Requests page. Before, you were able to accept Mafia Wars requests on that page. Now, the "Accept" buttons bring you into the game, where you can accept all gifts, etc. in the ZMC. Also of note, handling requests entirely in our system means the error codes KE-29, AF-77, and MC-24 sometimes encountered when accepting gifts through the Facebook Game Request page will cease to be problem! These error messages will become a thing of the past once all old requests are cleared out, which should happen within approximately 30 days.
Overall players don't like the new change but then again nobody ever likes change when it first happens. We don't really have a choice so my advice is to get used to it. I use the Link-a-Nator and Gift-a-Nator to accept my gifts so none of this really matters to me. The Link-a-Nator is up and running now and Team Spockholm thanks you for your patience and Brandon Venery for the fix. Now go populate the news feeds with Spock

ReplyDeleteHow is this better? If you didn't want to do gift doubling all you had to do was click 'ignore all' on the facebook gift page every now and again. For those of us "little players" who really relied on the gift doubling, this is terrible news. This is a nerf of gift doubling, and it sucks massively.

and to add to the good news- theres no change to some gifts not appearing in mw but only on the FB page - so those ones cannot be opened at all now.
ReplyDeleteThe double gift was a glitch (in a way) their other games dont allow it so though its kinda sad its also not unexpected - after all if we cant collect twice they must hope we will waste rw points, and possibly even real cash now.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with that comment.
I also get a lot of gifts that just appear on the FB page and don't show up inside the game. I would say easily one third to one half of my gifts on any given day only appear as FB requests. It would make more sense for Zynga to make all gifts come through inside the game, before depriving us of the ability to accept them from the FB page.
