Farewell To Kingpin Trading Market

Share:

It's very sad to report that one of the longest and most established trading sites is shutting their doors on their 2 year anniversary which is December 28th. David Reedy made the somber post below this weekend (1). The Kingpin Trading Market was the first trading site I ever used and I learned a lot about Mafia Wars. Trading used to be a lot of fun and I was obsessed with it. Unfortunately Zynga destroyed the trading market and many of the trading sites aren't getting any action. Back in the day when Zynga cared about the players, David Reedy sand many others pent many hours talking to them and much was promised but very little was delivered.
If you never trade you may not care but many players who were probably in your mafia have quit the game. Without a trading market, an important and large portion of the community will die. As more and more players quit, the game isn't as much fun for those left behind.
Without players, there won't be many live targets on the fightlist. Those who complain about fighting scripts, should be happy they exist because they provide more targets. Of the 710,00 daily players left in the game, I wonder how many of those are secondary accounts? Those who complain about script users need to consider the fact that a large chuck of that number are using scripts. Go to the Spockholm Mafia Tools Fan Page and see how many fans they have. Keep in mind that many players who use scripts are too afraid to "Like" this page because they are worried Zynga will ban their account. These numbers don't lie and Zynga should really look into keeping the balance of the traders, fighters and scripters in the game.

  1. I could not agree more with this post. I am a daily player that is more of a fight based account. If it wasn't for the trading sites earlier I would of gotten smoked on the weapons. I wish I had gotten involved earlier.

  2. Suggesting Elite Traders for replacement - very trustworthy and prompt action by admins on ripoff attempts.

  4. Miguel Mendes says....
I've often wondered how long the game will last.
I feel that Zynga started to scare people away when there was way too much spamming on the walls and when they started to overcharge for everything. By the time they fixed the issue, people started to leave by the boat-full..!!
I lost many good players but retained them as friends.

  5. Jen, The problem is, what would you trade? When I started playing almost 3 years ago the Vaulting stuff was the big trade hit. Then, once Energy accounts built up high end loot (E.G. cannonoza - lol) it moved onto that. The Red coats were worth a fortune. But the fighters complained and Zynga introduced FHEL...now anyone with a half decent account can max out a week after new FHEL is introduced. To have a trading market there needs to be a happy balance in 'drop rates' for JOB loot and FHEL that is giftable - and it has to worth gifting.

  6. We had a good run, made a lot of friends and had a ton of fun during KTM's existence. Long gone are the glory days of Mafia Wars and the golden era of Moscow. THOSE were some great times!

To all of the wonderful people who traded at KTM, YOU were what really made this game fun!
We really enjoyed taking a noob trader by the hand and walking them through their first few trades and to see them turn into trading GIANTS in a few short weeks/months. These were some of my best times in Mafia Wars.

Thanks to all of our supporters for being a part of KTM and what it represented.

  7. Some people are missing the point. Zynga is killing the trade market. There is no long term replacement.
