UPDATE: These images were used to announce the and American Under Siege the Against All Odds Mission. Thanks to Leonard Wong for pointing this out. My bad...if there weren't 20 million Missions maybe I would have remembered seeing these.

When we learned of plans for Cuba, Moscow and Bangkok to shut down, most of us were shocked. Many have asked if Las Vegas and New York would shut down as well. We were told that probably wouldn't happen but some successful Zynga Server snooping says otherwise. Teq found the following images in the Zynga Servers here and here. This makes you wonder where they are planning to take the Neo-Imperium story line next. In the past there have been many images found in the servers that were never used so this doesn't really mean a whole lot, it's just interesting.
Thanks to Teq Hutchinson for posting these images on the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page.

New York is pretty foundational so I don't understand how the game would work without it, however I can see them shutting Vegas down.
ReplyDeleteNY has the buildable items with skill points. If they close that down then they would have a boycott on their hands at best. Plus you have important finishing bonuses like double energy points in NY that would set any new players way back if they could not get
ReplyDeleteZynga has gotten away from the being a higher level, now with the way things are, everyone gets the same thing so there is no difference between a level 3000 and a 500 anymore. Get it back to the way it was....
ReplyDeletehmmm should be interesting
ReplyDeleteIf New York shuts down, I will quite Mafia Wars and give everything I have away and say the hell with Zynga's Mafia Wars!!!
ReplyDeleteI think these were mission we have done the vegas one used in "Against All Odds" mission same date same city and the ney york "America Under Seige" mission.

The created this beast - now they want it to be all nicey nicey .... Strip us of NY and who has the resources to fight loot and plunder?? LOL - Maybe we should all sit down and have tea parties on the weekends instead of mocks?
ReplyDeletethe neo emporium sees that the game is taking a dive and why not shut down the other two cities and keep one or two open lmao. less upkeep for zynga especially when they are ready to dump the game
ReplyDeletethose are both Old post from when the Brazil bosses and missions were added(March 17th 2011 the date on the USA newspaper) and the Against All Odds mission was rolled out(Apirl 20th 2011 on the Vegas newspaper)....the dates on the newpapers are right before each of these roll outs......just saying the date on the Cuba Newspaper was August 30th 2011
ReplyDeleteaaaargh - hope not - think maybe not NY as they have just upgraded the loot from property collections in there - and its got a bronze star so implies they are planning to upgrade further at some point. But its Zynga so who knows.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a pressing need for anyone to get their panties in a bunch. While the game is based on many attributes achieved in New York, the City itself is not indispensable. However since the game is based on programming code, I suspect New York may be removed and Chicago will take it's place and the same or revamped attributes will be generated to be achieved by all Players all over again. Also most probably there will be a Secret District in Italy, Vegas & Moscow before they are also closed down.
ReplyDeleteAfter hitting that low of below 1 Million, the writing is on the wall for Zynga. It will be minimal Cities in the future and Servers will also be cut down. No need to waste resources on a game, which incidentally Zynga themselves killed.
Next, you have to look at Zynga precisely as they are now ... a Large American Corporation with their own IPO, massive Credit Advances from Banks and aggressive buying of gaming and content-related companies. And we all know what large American corporations are ... they don't give a F**k about anything except themselves. Even if some players get together and file a class action law suit for damages incurred in any sense, they will just buy Republican Lobbysists and possibly even Sarah Palin to help them out.
Wakazawaka
I wouldn't lose any sleep if they shut Vegas down.
