A popular question on the fan page today is "What is Union Hall?". I reviewed the feature
here when it was released on August 11th and went into more details and issues with it
here. Union Hall is calling this feature which is located on your Build My Empire Home Page Module. It's not labeled as such in the game so many players are confused by the term. Sorry Zynga but not all players read your blog, fan page or Customer Support documents. There are two module pages devoted to Union Hall.
The concept of Union Hall is to make things easier and save clicks because everything is located on one page. Functionally, Union Hall is a big fail for 3 reasons. One, there is no option to purchase your Italy Port item. You still need to travel to Italy, go to your Village, click on the Port, scroll through the items and finally make the purchase.
Two, you can't activate your Brazil Crew Position so you need to travel to Brazil, go to the Job, Fight or Property Page and activate the Task Master. There is no option in Union Hall to do this. If you collect before activating, you will miss out on double the energy and/or stamina.
The third reason that Union Hall doesn't save you time or clicks is there is no memory of what items you prefer to craft in New York. To craft the item you want, you need to open up each Buildable Property Page and scroll to find the item you want.
The only and major benefit of Union Hall is that you can collect from your Refinery and Barracks individually and this reduces the your odd of wasting energy or stamina and can help you level up twice instead of once every 8 hours.
According to Zynga, 95% of all players should now have this feature. Based on the many comments it seems like it's more than that but should be at 100% by next week.

ReplyDelete95%? No way. Out of me and my closest 4 friends, 3/5 DON'T have this and 4/5 DON'T have Power Packs.
ReplyDeleteI personally think its great, if its such a toil to build your items just use crafty lil' helper like you probably already do!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad of it and appreciate their efforts. Things like buying from the port and activating Brail Crew positions might be something they just couldn't work the bugs out of yet, but Zynga decided to release what functionality they could. Hooray! I think a lot of people don't understand that programming is HARD, and trying to get so many releases to work together is very complicated. I.e.: the code for NY and Cuba is old and different than what came later for Brazil, and even LV and Italy. Some parts work well together easily, some parts don't and it's a real challenge to figure out why and write a fix without breaking something else. That's one of the hardest things about fixing bugs: making sure your fix doesn't break something somewhere else in the system, especially when dealing with old and new code working together. So, Union Hall is a great addition, imo, and I think calling is "a big fail" is too harsh. I didn't know that I could use it to collect from my Refinery and Barracks separately; kudos to Zynga for listening to our complaints and giving us a solution. And, of course, thanks MW Loot Lady for this helpful site and all the terrific info.

Put me in that 5% as well. I've never seen the Union Hall. Or Power Packs.
ReplyDeleteHowever, as the Loot Lady has reported, Property Manager has been doing the things the Union Hall does (and more) for quite awhile now. AND it does it much, MUCH better (including all of the things that Union Hall fails on).
In Spockholm's Checklist, there is an option to collect separately Brazil Energy AND Stamina, so even folks like me that don't have Union Hall, can take advantage of it's one fantastic feature. Just remember to activate your Taskmaster first! (if needed)
And the fourth reason Union Hall is a big fail, which nobody seems to talk about (at least here) is that there's no option to bank your money. You still have to travel to each city to do it - obviously you can't in Vegas if your bank is at capacity (lame) and you wouldn't in NY if you're working on the achievements, but why is banking not a part of this? Is Zynga actually acknowleding the long know fact that money is worthless in Mafia Wars???

how to upgrade the items???...it says updgade now, but dont know how...any suggestions
