Clams is the new currency in Chicago. Overall it appears you can easily make enough by repeating a few jobs to buy the equipment required for jobs. Once there are more people on the fightlist, fighting will be a great way to get as many as you need. In case you are wondering where in the heck the term Clams came from, they are dollars. In the 1920s, Clams was a popular slang term used to describe a dollar. Today 100 bills rule and we slang for those too.
So far I've encountered one glitch in Chicago and it involves clams. I deposited 1,341 Clams into the Chicago Bank.
I received the Big Al's Vault achievement as soon as I performed the action.
If you read the fine print, this achievement is earned by having 1 million Clams in the bank.
The payouts for doing jobs and fights is so low. The first job in District 1 pays out 3 Clams on the Bronze Level. The equipment costs are not very high so getting enough Clams shouldn't pose too much of a challenge.
You can get Clams for fighting as well (and soon from robbing). To get them, both players have to be in Chicago. Since only Platinum and Diamond players are in Chicago, it's very hard to find someone who is alive, in Chicago, has unbanked Clams and is beatable. Mike Nestor can do that so I do have a screen shot. The amount of Clams you get depends on how many unbanked Clams your opponent has. Mike got 34 from the single attack shown below. I don't know what the maximum number of Clams you can get per attack is yet.
You can give and receive Clams as free gifts. If your account has Chicago, you will see Clams on the Free Gift Page.
You don't get much and of course there is a limit. You can open up 10 Chicago Cash Gifts a day.
If you don't have Chicago you will still get these gifts but they will convert to New York cash. It's kind of like those Power Packs that so many players still don't have!
Clams are also available from your Truck Shop which unlocks once you master the first job in Chicago.
On Level 1, you can collect 5 Clams every 8 hours.
Clams are also given as rewards from the Chicago Missions. I don't know how many of these Missions there will be but I do remember there were 65 of them in Brazil (1). I will try to find out how many there are for Chicago. I won't be posting detailed walk throughs for these but will list them as soon as I find the information.

ReplyDeleteTell us more about that glitch you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteThe glitch still exists. I banked 10 clams (from the truck shop) to get a total of 1672 clams in the bank when it popped up for me.
